Behind the Steel Curtain Best offense in NFL, well at least on paper.

Hey guys, I know we are putting a lot of faith on some rookies, but WOW, how good is to be a Steeler in April. KC did it again. Really, he makes most of the GMs look like Lady Gaga picking players after a night of alcohol. David de Castro and Mike Adams in the same draft. REALLY! We all knew the missing link on our offense was the OL. And overnight it becomes a strenght. I really think at least on paper, we have the best offense of 2012, the most balanced. We have some move the chains players like Redman, Miller, Cotchery and the playmakers such as Antonio Brown, Mike Wallace and Sanders. WOW, our offense seems scary. Now imagine these fast WRs with more than 3 seconds to do their routes. OUCH. And imagine our running game making their DB honest. Really, this year could be one for the ages. But, this is on paper. Lets hope Pouncey and Colon stay 100% and we have a heck of an offense.

Behind the Steel Curtain Larry Grant, ILB, 49ers for a 7th rounder

With the cut of Farrior and Foote declining, what do you feel about getting Larry Grant, ILB, who played great against us last year, for just a 7th round. I think he is talented and could start on lots of teams but he plays behind the machine Willis. I dont wanna lose a 1st round on a ILB. We have so many holes, like OT,G,CB,S,RB,NT, so we need to find some diamonds on the rough A.S.A.P

Behind the Steel Curtain We had great coaching in 2010, but in 2011...

Came back again. I regret for the post I made about the Broncos and how we were underrating them, cos I think we lacked heart on that game. Heart wins game.

Anyways, I hated the coaching in 2011 for most part of the season. The decision of playing Ben against the 49ers until the last drive was the most stupid thing I ever saw, and maybe cost our wildcard win, we will never know.

But Tomlin and CO made some huge mistakes, like getting older on defense and dont have good backups, specially at LB. Our OL was ridiculous, and they insisted on J.Scott, Kemoeatu. They cant play at NFL.

They lack heart, determination. I played the OL position and can tell. Essex, Foster and j. Scott are lazy. Is not just technique, islazyness. About Kemoeatu, you cant play OL without a brain. Is possible to play OL without an arm, but not with a 50 IQ.

Also, we lacked experience on offense. We put our money on young receivers, overnight Ward became the 5th receiver. I think he could at least bring heat to this soft offense with those big hits. Our offense was so soft and inconsistent. An experienced and hardreceiver would be welcomed.

Well, I hope things start getting better in April.

Behind the Steel Curtain We are underrating the power of heart, work ethic and willingness!

Hey guys, I am kinda busy with my work as a lawyer here, but playoff time is time to take a break. We all know how better is our team comparing to the Broncos, but they are in playoffs for some good reasons and we have to worry about them.

The defense is playing lights out. Every guy on this team is putting his heart and blood on the field. Is a good time to root for the Broncos, they must be proud.

Tebow may not be a good QB, but he is a baller and a great athlete, with a huge heart. He inspires his teammates, just like the great QB Cutler uninspires them.

Id rather play against a great QB with no heart in the playoffs than playing against Tebow with his impressive work ethic.

We are underrating the intangibles of this average team, lets hope we can beat them showing our heart, ethic, teamwork and our superior talent in their house.

Behind the Steel Curtain 7 reasons to believe on our 7th ring

After a tought loss against our great rivalry, we dont have reasons to be worried. I listed 5 reasons to believe we will be back in February to another Super Bowl.

1 - Max Starks - He is playing the best football of his career. Has become the missing link we need to our OL. OL is much improved, thanks to Big Max.

2 - WR corp - Our young WR corp is amazing. Even without Manny and Ward, Antonio Brown played great again and Wallace is so clutch. It would be a great winning TD he stole from Brown.

3 - Special teams and 35-yard kicking rule - There was no changing rule better for us than the kickoff at the 35. We solved half of our ST problems with that. And the coaching and signings of ST aces helped too.

4 - James Harrison - What a beast . Maybe someone disagree with me, but I think he is the most complete 3-4 OLB to ever play the game. ( I am not telling he is the best rusher, just the best linebacker, he stops the run, covers a little bit and is so hard to stop on passing plays, except holding him)

5 - Big Ben - I wouldnt want any QB wearing the #7 black and gold. Despite a horrible interception, he came through and played well on the TD drive. He is so clutch, erases his mistakes easily to keep on going.

6 - Defensive backs - Well, Gay played awfully yesterday, but I think he will adjust to that. Troy isnt flying, but I hope he gets ready to playoffs. But two guys are playing pretty well for us. Ryan Mundy and Keenan Lewis. On a passing happy league, we will need them in January.

7 - Coaching - Arians, the hated coach is finally making it. Our playcall is finally consistent. Just hope it continues.

Get ready!! Our 7th ring is coming...

Behind the Steel Curtain The 2004 OL X 2011 OL

Hey guys, after a post discussing about our OL, I came on a conclusion to our protection problem. I really dont think our OL is the real problem, but the lack of games together and Ben holding the ball too long. Imagining the best OL we could have.

Scott - Kemo - Pouncey - Foster - Colon

and Comparing to our best OL in years

Smith - Faneca - Hartings - Simmons - Starks

Well, we cant discuss the 2004 OL was way better, but I really think they were better not because they thrived on pass protection, but because of two things. We ran the ball beastly and Ben was just a manager QB. Nods to the OL who was great in run block, but not that great in pass block.

Smith and Faneca were great on the running games, but  they didnt become famous because of the pass protection. Faneca always had problems with big and fast DTs, and Smith with small and fast rushers. But the main reason they were really good is that they knew their flaws and one helped the other. A OL is a big wall. One broken brick can ruin everything.

Just remember, in the SB the OL played really well, SO I have big hopes. Lets just pray they can keep health.

Behind the Steel Curtain Sean Kugler, the OL Magician

Hey guys, after a tough loss, is hard to find any good thing on our great season. But I am so proud of the Steelers, I had to post this.

The best offseason move we made was to hire Sean Kugler. We all know our OL wasnt good at all last year, and in 2008 when we won the SB despite the OL.

But in one year, everything changed. Sean Kugler turned a dismantled and fragile unit into magic. A hard fought, with the heart of the world unit. I AM SO PROUD OF MY OL.

Ya, its not the best OL we ever had, not even close. No all-pro in the team, except for Pouncey. But I fell in love with them. They are the true STEELER spirit.

And all of this bravery they displayed yesterday has the finger of one guy. SEAN KUGLER.

We lost our LT, our RT and our all-pro C, but even with those loss, we played greatly yesterday. The Hotel shutdown the GREATEST LB EVER!!!!! Matthews.  Pickett and Jenkins didnt dismantle our unit. and BJ Raji or the 95 were suppose to kill our Legursky.

Oh, what a match by Legs. Those who didnt believe him, just show now. He played with his whole heart, a true warrior.

Next year, we will have a great OL, can bet my house on it.

Starks- Kemo-Pouncey- Colon- Flozell . That could be a dominant unit. And with a great coach to be, we just have to be happy, even on a really sad day for the Steeler Nation.

Behind the Steel Curtain NFL.com overrating the JETS

I know they are a very good team, with a stout defense, a great OL and a shutdown corner, but,

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81dc574f/article/jets-have-confidence-talent-to-give-steelers-cause-for-concern?module=HP_spotlight

They are really that better?

I think its bullshit, specially the RBs, since Mendy got more yards than both with a poor OL.

And about the coaching, everyone is raving Ryan. Really, with all that attitude, lack of discipline. I think the Pats lost to themselves, dropping passes, Brady having a low game. The only thing I agree is the secondary, that is playing great.

Behind the Steel Curtain Brady, an overrated playoff QB.

Well, every Pats fan tell us they have the clutchest QB on the league and blah blah, how great he is in Playoffs. Is it really the truth?

Behind the Steel Curtain What was the crazyest thing you ever did for (because of) the Steelers?

Hey guys, it was a great night. Unbelievable game after such a 1st half nightmare. But today I did something for the Steelers that just show how fanatic I am, and how fanatic most of you are.

Well, knowing that the game was today two weeks ago, I couldnt go to the wedding.of my girlfriend's best friend. I thought about it several days, felt sorry about it. But, as a great argentinian movie says( EL SECRETO DE SUS OJOS, oscar winner of 2010), passion is passion. You dont forget passion. You cant change passion. (No se puede cambiar la passion.)

Luckily, we won. Great game, and The Steelers deserve all my love.

PS. My girl is very mad about it. she cant understand. but The Steeler Nation does.

PS2. I did another crazy thing, betting a car, after the Larry Fitzgerald TD in 2008, against some bull shit guys, that wanted the underdog victory.

What was the crazyest thing you ever did ?

Behind the Steel Curtain Aaron Smith, a great player, an even better person

How great is Aa. Smith in the trenches. The most underrated and arguably the better DL of the decade. A great team and family guy. I think most of you saw this video, but is AMAZING, a little bit of history of our beloved DE #91

I love him even more! Please come back to playoffs Aa.  We need you badly!

Behind the Steel Curtain The day the STEELER NATION thought the Rooneys got crazy

I remember clearly that day. After a SB hangover we lost our beloved mad coach Bill Cowher. There were some coaches available such as Cam Ca moron, Ron Rivera(my favorite) and Ken Whiz, our beloved OC and the Steeler Nation favorite. Well, going against the odds, The Rooneys chose a young guy from Minnesota Vikings. Tomlin became the sixteenth Steelers head coach on January 22, 2007, when he was hired to replace Bill Cowher, who resigned after spending 15 years with the team.

On one move we lost our OC and our great OL coach. What a mess was showing. I was afraid. Most analysts told Tomlin would put his 4-3 tampa defense on table.  Ouch, for a moment I thought our great franchise had a dark future.

I was completely wrong. I  will never doubt the Rooneys again. We got arguably the best HC of NFL and a young one, blue collar one. Not that Bill Belicheat or a fat Ryan guy. We got our smooth, soft spoken, but energic guy, and what a great guy.

I couldnt be happier with our destiny on the hands of Mike Tomlin.

What were your thoughts when we hired him?

Behind the Steel Curtain Mike Wallace, pro bowler?

5 Mike Wallace PIT WR 57 1,152 20.2 76.8 53T 9

He has 9 TDs, 1152 y as a number 2 WR. Didnt have BB for 4 weeks and 3 weeks he was injured. Everytime he touches the ball, something good will come. Probably the most explosive WR in the league. A poor Desean Jackson that is proving to be better or in the same level.

Does he deserve a place in Hawaii? I think so. Andre Johnson has good stats, but dropped some passes this year. Brandon Lloyd should be in Pro Bowl. I dont think Reggie Wayne deserves a spot. Dropped passes, Collie and Garcon outshadowing him.

I dont see any discussion about Mike getting the nod, maybe another underrated Steeler player in the league? What do you think

Behind the Steel Curtain Hard fought, hard loss

I dont remember the last time I was so mad and so glad on a Steelers Loss. On the Pats game we didnt have a chance, and played one of the worst games of Tomlin era ( with that Eagles FG shootout and Jax).

But this sunday, the clutchest team won. That 4th down fake was huge, one of the best plays I ve seen. We cant blame our defense. The only thing we can blame is the kick return TD, that was bullshit.

But we lost for a good team that played their best. And on a day that our OL played great. Kemoeatu probably had his best game, and should be in talks to get a nod in Hawaii.

But ya, we are a different D# without the Samoan Safety. We are a very good defense, but ya, We miss him a lot. We didnt have that fake blitz presence that aterrorize most of the qbs, I think Timmons isnt 100% yet.

But, no times for worries, we didnt have Aa. Smith and Polamalu. 2 or 3 years ago this would mean 6-10, 7-9, but we have a great depth, probably the best on NFL, and thats why we will put a ring on the 7th thumb on Feb.

I am so proud of this team today, even on a very hard to swallow loss.

Behind the Steel Curtain Analyzing the Offensive line

Hey guys, since we couldnt get it along last night, I started to watch our weak link, since I play on offensive line and coached my team in Brazil. PS. The level of football here is low hehe.

Tray Essex

I never liked Tray Essex, not as a soft LT, but as a RG he is even worse. The RG position needs to be filled by a mauler, mean streak guy, like Leonard Davis, Jahri Evans, Chris Snee.

Tray Essex is LAZY, soft, his footwork is HORRIBLE, really he is one of the worst offensive lineman I ve ever seen. He got pushed several times by that DE I never heard the name, who by the way, doesnt look strong at all.

Legursky was injured? Cos he is way better than Essex.

The front seven of the Patriots isnt that good, but we made them look like the best in the league.

Jonathan Scott - He was ok last night, I think we can invest on him. He has light feet, played well, yes, made some mistakes like the Tully sack, and that illegal formation, but was his first game as a starter and with a new LG.

Maurkice Pouncey - Not his best game, but we know what he can do. I think he missed some assignments and some double teams. But did a nice job containing the mammoth Wilfork.

Ramon Foster- I hope when Kemoeatu comes back, he goes to the Left side. He isnt the brilliant guy we hope for, but man, he is relentless. I like his attitude.

Flozell Adams- Since his injury, he isnt playing that well, the running game isnt consistent anymore at his side.

I think Jonathan can be our LT, but we need to pick a free agent, probably a mauler G and a LT would help too.

What do you think?

Behind the Steel Curtain Ridiculously outcoached

Seriously, sometimes I think our OC is a 6-year old boy whoe doesnt have a clue about football.

3 passes from the 33 yards and then a 51 FG?  That was an absurd. We should have run at least once to make the kick easier. And then he calls a pass on a 4th &4 .

Our coach put Brees on the game.  Must be really frustrating for Dick and the defense to play with such a moron coach.

We made the Saints DEFENSE look like a STEELERS DEFENSE

Behind the Steel Curtain Big Ben - The Steel Man

Hey guys, after just 2 games(and preseason) we lost 2 quarterbacks due to injuries.  I think this just confirm what we already knew. Big Ben is a freak! His nickname should be the Steel Man.

Come on,, 47 sacks in one year, lots of hits. he played since the 2nd game of 2004. Losing just some games and we know he wanted to go, specially on that Ravens game. That is a guy who sometimes is careless, but he is a MAN. not that sissy QBs we see. Just notice the referees flagging for roughing the passer, late hits.

When they see is #7 wearing black and gold they dont throw any flag, maybe they know what we know, this guy is made of steel. Hope he comes back in shape and get us our 7th. ( I think we will need a 3rd hand with him at QB)

Thoughts?

Behind the Steel Curtain Pro Football Focus- Great statistical site

I believe most of you already know this site. I find it a great resource for statistics and to avaliate our OL.

Hartwig and Essex played really badly, specially on the running game. So, Maurkice Pouncey will help right away. This site seems very accurate.

Any thoughts?

This also shows only 6 sacks for Colon, I thought he conceded 8 sacks..

Behind the Steel Curtain 6 weeks without Ben

Well, If this is true, I think our season is probably over. 4 first games were the easier ones, a 3-1, 4-0 was a reality, but without BB, I think we will go 1-3.

 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5132735

2-4 at best on our 6 first games. Ben would have to take us to a 9-1 season. Kinda impossible. Well, Goodell killed us. Did he suspend Marshall for 6 games? Tone? Travis henry?

This was ridiculous. If Rooney suspended for 6 games, I would approve it. But not Goodell, the MR. God of NFL.

Behind the Steel Curtain Another Petition? But this one to get Paul Tagliabue back.

I am tired of Roger Goodell since he appeared as the comissioner of NFL. He has good ideals, but he somehow wants to do the job of the DA. Is he a vilain or the hero? I think Tagliabue was more discret, dealed way better with players issues.

I think the policy of drugs, behaviours should come from the Teams, not the NFL, if Pitt wants to punish his QB, its ok. Because the damage caused is directly to the Franchise, not the NFL. Hines Ward should be happy without Goodell, and richer.

Behind the Steel Curtain OUCH!! Steelers willing to trade Big Ben

What was just a speculation, is getting stronger. The Rooneys are willing to trade BB, and they are looking for the 1st pick of this draft to get Sam Bradford, whom they are in love.

I have never seen so many problems in one year. MADDEN CURSE is picking all SteelerNation. 1st Polamalu, then Aa Smith, Tone, BB, who is the next?

If we trade him, I think we have to REFORMULATE ALL OUR TEAM, we cant win without BB, I wouldnt trade him for Brady or Manning with our OL. If we get two 1st round picks for him, (maybe two seahawks) we should go after Clausen and Trent Williams, but we are losing anyway)

Ben is a one in a lifetime draft pick! Just ask the Bears.

Behind the Steel Curtain Trade Down, a huge possibility?

I was thinking about a possible trade down with some teams, and my guess would be that Eagles and Cowboys could pull the trigger. They are aggressive teams, NFC.

Steelers 18th pick - 900 points

Eagles 24th pick - 740 points

Cowboys - 27th pick - 680 points

Steelers X Eagles - 18th pick x 24th pick + 3rd round(87th)

Scenario - They would get Earl Thomas or Kyle Wilson, and we could get Maurkice Pouncey or Mike Iupati plus an extra pick. If we go for a OL.

Steelers X Cowboys - 18th pick x 27th pick + 3r round (90th) + 4th round.,

Scenario- They would go after Iupati and we could get Pouncey or Kyle Wilson.

I do think a trade down would be great, with an extra 3rd we could get players like Navorro Bowman, a great CB like Donovan Warren, maybe Vladimir Ducasse.

I really like Iupati, but he has serious issues as a pass blocker, he is worse than Kemo, imagine our OL with them. He has a long learning curve, and we cant wait for it.

Kyle Wilson would be a good choice, but I think picking him at 18th is a reach, so, why dont trade down. Same thing for Maurkice Pouncey.

Any thoughts?

Behind the Steel Curtain Atogwe at FS?

Since is looking that 25 is not coming back this year, we will need to replace him with a draft pick or free agency.

I think we have some positions that need desperate upgrades, specially G, CB, FS, and DE/LB.

If we draft a FS in the 1st round we lose a lot of money to a player with no positional value. I think we should go after Atogwe or renew Clark for a home-discount contract.

The Rams put the lowest tender on a good FS. I think he could make a great duo with Troy and we wouldnt give any draft pick.

We should at least get in touch with him.

Any thoughts?

Behind the Steel Curtain Great News!!! Urlacher OUT!

Brian Urlacher needs surgery for a dislocated right wrist and Pisa Tinoisamoa has a sprained PCL ligament. The White Shark might be out of season. They will not play against us.

I think Heath Miller will have a great game against them. Their linebacker corp is dismantled.

Lawrence Timmons will be back and I think he can handle Matt Forte and help Tyrone against Greg Olsen. Tyrone is my only fear. I think we should play Ryan Mundy, he did ok on his first game late against Tennessee.

Well, hope Urlacher gets better and be ready to play on a high level next year, he is one of my favorite.

I think you didnt see the point, I will never be happy about a out of season kind of injury, but this will make Steelers life easier.

Or anyone here wasnt kinda reliefed about the out of season injury of Tom Brady? We were sad that a great QB wouldnt play that year, but for our team was great, maybe our 6th ring wouldnt come.  This is just an interpretation.

Any thoughts?

PS. If they dont keep holding Deebo(or the judges see the holdings), I think he can get a 2-sack game.

Behind the Steel Curtain FOOTBALL IN BRAZIL? NOW A REALITY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFWAQn7JwFU

This is the 1st game of the National Championship here ! Rio de Janeiro(BLUE X SAO PAULO(BLACK)

Rio lost , 29x28, I played as LG this game and this is our last drive trying to kick a field goal!

Well, just to see how we are playing here, well, we are not in the same level of College, maybe not even the Highest rated HS, but we are working on, we are trying to arrange some matches against Mexico and Japan, lets see it!

Pedro #92  OL- Rio de Janeiro

Let me know what you think about the level of the game!

Behind the Steel Curtain KWII CONTRACT X Heath Miller Free-agent?

Hey guys, I am really worried about the Kellen Winslow's, Jr. Contract. He will be the highest paid TE m and he didnt do nothing to earn that!

Miller will be a free-agent next year, I think we would have problem renewing his contract! He is so valuable to our offense, but we cant pay him like this crazy Franchises!

Well, I think we are gonna draft a TE in the mid-rounds, what do you think, just for an insurance? Not Pettigrew(that topic was just for discussion, was not a real possibility)!

Let me know what you guys think.

Behind the Steel Curtain What if Josh McDaniels were hired in 2007?

Well, guys! Every Steeler Fan is glad because we chose the right guy! I can describe lots of qualities about him, but really? Did you think this would work out! I remember shouting about this hire! I wanted Russ Grimm badly(Whiz was already hired)!  I was very worried about the Steeler future, and Ben came after his worse year and was banged! Well, but ThE ROONEYS know what they do, and got the perfect coach for our blue-collar team!

But if we got J McD ?  I do think he would probably do the same thing! New regimes almost ever mean NEW QBs! He would want a guy of his own, Cassell was just a backup, but imagine if he had played the whole 2006 with MOss, Welker...!

1st- Patriots would let the world KNOW, maybe put on the website that the always hated STEELERS Wanted his QB! ( They did that on Cutlers case, showing how classy they are)

2nd- Ben would feel hurt about this situation, who doesnt? Really, all those journalists telling Cutler is a cry baby, bla bla bla? Comparing about his job, but if you were the MAN OF THE YEAR on your company, and somebody intended to hire someone to replace you, you wouldnt be hurt? a Organization should have faith on THE QB, the master piece of a NFL team! Thats what Lovie Smith showed to Grossman! Ya Grossman, Thats what the Giants did,

They protected QBs that ALL THE MEDIA wanted out, or was calling a bust! But Cutler was a probowler! So, who is wrong?? Really, I think J MCD should be fired the next day!

3rd. I think Ben wouldnt be the drama queen, but that would break all the relationship on the locker room! Maybe Ben would be traded, so JMCD could get his own locker room atmosphere

4th! What would be the value of our Great QB? Maybe 3 1st rounders, and a very good OL? and even though we would be losing on this trade! FOR SURE, just like the Broncos, a almost playoff team, losed!

Any thoughts!

OUCH! I Didnt imagine it!

Terms of the deal are disclosed in the BEARS SB BLOG

They got a great QB , but for a high cost as showed below

Imagine Cutler with that defense against the Colts in SB XLI!

Now this defense is old, and not as great as it was!

 www.nfl.com

Broncos Get:

- Kyle Orton

- Two 1st round picks (2009 and 2010)

Behind the Steel Curtain Brandon Pettigrew?? A good draft choice!

Guys, I was thinking about this guy! He for sure is a beast as a blocker, and possibly would become the BEST blocker TE on the league, and also is a good short route catcher! Has good hands, but is not a fast TE! Why I think would be a good idea drafting him IF we cant get the top OTs, Mack or Vontae Davis,Butler or Alphonso Smith! Maybe he could be gone before but we never know!

1- He would help our running game at day one , also would help to protect our QB and be a good weapon

2- We could let Miller Free this time, and he could become our Jason Witten

3- We would have a better situation to negotiate Miller next year!

4- We would b great in Arians preferred formation- 2-TE, Single-back

5- Willie Parker would be great with 2 great TEs blocking for him in the outside!

Any thoughts?
