Ashlee Palmer?
What are your guys' thoughts on him?
I myself really like him. I remember him coming out of college and watching him at the combine. He's very talented and as of lately has been making plays everywhere. He hits hard and gets good pursuit to the ball. Earlier this year during Training Camp I happened to catch him after practice and get his glove with an autograph. He seemed like a very good guy and I honestly believe he should get a chance at starting next season next to levy and hopefully someone by the name of travis lewis or bruce carter.
I guess I'm just curious on what your guys' thoughts on him are?.. oh and not to mention he is a very good special teams player that forced a few fumbles and racked up a 1 sack and quite a tackles in the backfield.
Lots of News
So even though most of us know that Stafford will start throwing this week, i read an article on pro sports daily that he has not ruled out missing Sundays game. However, this could just be the determination he has, but more of an unrealistic goal. I don't see him playing Sunday, but I'm okay with that because I think that Shaun Hill can get the job done.
Also, Burleson expects to play and Levy should be back as well. Burleson is saying he feels good coming out of his routes, and running strong. With him and Calvin in the game, I don't see where the Rams can stop us. And Levy will help a lot due to the fact out linebackers our horrible minus the exception of Peterson.
I really would like to see the first win of the season and celebrate with the whole damn world.
Lions love off of nfl.com
So I was just roaming around the website and it caught my eye that on the main page is a debate for the top 5 contenders in the next decade. Shocking enough our lovely lions happened to fall third on the list. Damn I can't help but think this is our year, not to make the playoffs or win our division, but to prove to people we're contenders and not the team to that you could play games with last year.

Back from Taining Camp
Wow it was really interesting tuesday morning. many of our players such as levy, wade, and some other sat out. but during the second practive they played. everyone looked good including eric fowler. He really stood out making some professional grabs and just overall nice plays. Calvin looked like Calvin and Stafford was throwin darts. Cornerbacks looked a little rough but at times showed their abilities to make nice plays. As for right now I really see Houston being the number 1 cb... Any questions from yahh guys lemme kno!!!
The Lions
the lions are is desperate need for a FEW starting cb's. I really hope we can get a steal in free agency, bc if not look for them to be taking one in the 2nd and the 3rd round. Hell, for all we know they might even draft berry and play him at cb. he has all the physical tools, and has played cb in recent years. I am really hoping the lions can make a move for someone who is physical and can really help our team in defending the passing game.
Im not sure who all is still out there as far as cb's go, but i do know a few. marshal from the panthers would be nice, and i tihnk i would be willing to give up our second for him. he is a proven cb and can be our #1 guy. Another option would me jackson if he got healthy enough and was ready to come back home. There are some guys out there that we "need" to land. if we don't sign any cb's in free agency, be ready to take some in the draft.

Will Corey Williams Start?
From looking at his stats over the past couple years, theyre better than grady's. If we take neither Suh or Mccoy, Berry will be the pick, leaving us with a more solid line and a much improved backfield... Think of this line, (It actaully is realistic, and has nothin to do with kool-aid:P)
vanden bosch- hill- williams- hunter/avril, this is a lot better than
white (always hurt) or bryan- hill- jackson- hunter/avril
and if we do go Suh think of him instead of Williams.
Thoughts... , and on a side note hopefully the lions go get a cb or rb!!

Chester Taylor
I would love to bring him back into his hometime and let us see what he has in the tank... and im thinkin he has a lot left even though he is 30. If you look at his stats, before peterson came in and ran minnesota, it was taylor's throne. He avarages anywhere from 800 to 1200 rushing yards a year. pretty good numbers considering none of our back in a while have even reached 800 yards other the k.smith, who is not lookin so good right now. He also caught for about 300 yards a season, which is about the same that heller caught for last year. Not to mention while peterson is the starter is receiving yards boosted to about 400 yards... equal to pettigrew.
please lions, bring in chester taylor.

No Lito Sheppard
There are many other guys out there i would much rather have over old man sheppard. he has lost his touch and wouldnt do enough to help our team out....
By the end of the day i want to see one of these guys signed, even if it means overpaying a bit
Dunta Robinson- hes going to test and see what happens, hopefully we happen.
Leigh Bodden- bring him back, and actually give him a chance to succeed this time.
Ryan Clark- hes a hard hitter who could play with delmas, and let us take suh or mccoy.
Marlin Jackson- maybe he can get healthy? if so he can be a really good cb.
Obviously this is out of the cb and s class. There are many others very good , but unrealistic.

Suh and Berry
im not sure if all us lions fans are on the same page. but if suh is taken by the rams which seems like its becoming more unlikely, we would all want berry if we cant trade down?... if the front office sticks to its gameplan and suh is gone, i tihnk that berry should be the pick. it would be awesome to watch him and delams in action. mccoy would he okay but numbers werent great at the combine and dont even compare to suh's. im not saying go draft berry, but i am saying if suh is gone than berry should be our pick at #2.
GO LIONS!!!! can't wait for tomorrow

One last mock for me... 5 rounds
This is my last mock... Personally i dont think anyone's mock can come close to the real draft until free agency has ended, but its fun to predict. Im just gonna pick by what are picks are now and not going to try and say if we trade down....etc. so here we go
1st- Suh, if rams go qb here, which they should, id take suh over mccoy all day
2nd- Graham, he is one of the best, but teams "will" overlook him just bc of his accident at the combine, and Wilson will be gone unfortunately, lets face facts
3rd- Warren, he had a great junior year and has very good skills. since we lost out on wilson we recover here and look forward to him helping us out a lot. Although he had somewhat of a slow 40 4.59 he would be a steal and is solid in every way he can be.
4th- Calloway, he has had some problems with one DUI but it was for a stupid reason, he has always been solid and has earned All-BIg Honorable Mention, Iowa has also produced great Offensive Tackles in the Past
5th- Starks, he put up good numbers at the combine and imoroved his stocka little, i know he missed the entire season with a shoulder injury but he looked very healthy and put up great numbers the year before.. 1333 yards and 16 touchdowns rushing. He also had 53 catches out of the backfield.
5th- Barnes, he did play for bowling green, however sometimes numbers are more important and he put up some ridiculous numbers.. 155 receptions, 1,770 yards and 19 touchdowns. Even though were takin him in the 5th i tihnk if we dont go out into free agency and land a wr he could very well be the number two or number 3 if the coaches see it.
From here on out I expect the front office to do some good pickin!!!
GO LIONS!!!!

I Dont Understand
I would love if we took Best in the 2nd round. He has all the tools, and there is nothing wrong with him. He may be a little small but I dont see why no one can overlook that as they did with jones-drew, d.williams, and other 5'10 rb's. He can always put on weight if thats the issue. Yes, he had a bad concussion at the end of last year but most, im not saying everyone, but most people overcome concussions. I cant beleive some people are trying to compare him to aaron brown. aaron brown didnt even put up close to the stats that Best did. He could help sooo much. I just dont see us going out into free agency and getting a playmaker rb, or having kevin smith come back and rush for a 1000+. Personally I dont really like Smith. He can't stay on his feet, which is a problem....
If Best is there in the 2nd i would love it if we took him, no doubt.

Derrick Morgan, Jahvid Best
Morgan is an extremely productive defensive end with a good combination of size and speed who fits in a 4-3. Shows great range in run pursuit. He has a variety of moves to get to the quarerback and produce pressure. I know some people may think it is not the right choice here, but I believe the problem other teams run games were so well against us is because they sat in the pocket all day to throw, therefor we had to drop back in coverage more. Morgan also kept a positive status after the combine, doing nothing harmful but nothing great to his stock.
Best has really great awareness, quickness, speed, and burst. He is just what the lions are looking for, more of a homerun threat type of guy. He may not be huge like most of the class, however he fights for his yards. He is kind of like a Reggie Bush jst an inch shorter and a couple pounds lighter, but he can always put on punds if needed.
Obviously these would be our first two picks, and from there on I'm beleiving in the Lions front office to chose by talent, but also look at posititon of need and not drafting TE's or QB's....

Defense Positioning
There has been talk about Dorsey and some talk about Vanden Bosch. If the Lions went out and acquired these two, our line could be something dangerous. I know neither one of them are any a Julius Pepper, or Ray Edwards, but they could both really help us. This is how I look at it....
Dline
Vanden Bosch-Dorsey-Hill-Avril..... id be ok with that
Linebacker
levy-foote-peterson,.... im thinking mayb we trade sims for a 3rd or so, id be ok with this
seondary
buchanon-henry-delmas-berry,.... assuming we draft berry, id be ok with this
Im sure others will be drafted or signed and could compete for starting jobs, but this is how I look at it for now
Kyle Vanden Bosch
Sources say that him and the titans are not close to a deal, and it looks as if he is going to be dealt to another team. I know a lot of fans think he is asking for too much money for his age and isnt worth it. However, I think if we can sign him to a 2 year deal he could really help out our line, he has many tools that most of the guys on our line don't have. Plus he has worked with Schwartz and he did have good years with him and they have chemistry. So I think he could be a could pick up for a couple seasons or so
.....Comments? Thanks
Yes, its an unoffical mock again
I really would love if this mock would work out the way i plan it too. just want some thoughts!!!?
1st- Suh, im not gnna say if hes not there then iw ould take....no im takin suh
2nd- wilson, might fall to us? you never know
3rd- OT or OG BPA we really need one and their are several lineman that could help us here
4th- Joique bell, maybe a little early but i really do like him!
5- Barnes, could extremely help us in the passing game
THE REST DEFENSE!!!!!!!
comment, please. thanks POD
Joique Bell
I am in love with him. Yes, he may play D2 but so have many other great nfl stars. He has great size and has good speed. He knows how to protect the ball, and run with power. He has a great stiff arm and can stay on his feet. If he is there in the 4th round or later no doubt in my mind should we take him!!!!!
Check his videos out on youtube or somewhere else, he could be a star.
Thoughts?
2010 Mock...
1st round- Suh, this is if the rams draft qb or someone else... if not than I would like to see Berry drafted
2nd round- Graham, I know his stock has rose tremendously but I do think we could get snag him
3rd round- Gilyard, can make plays and help out both Stafford and Johnson. I know he is small and slender but he has lots of skill and can make a lot of plays....look at jones-drew.
4th round- Velheer (OT) he only played Division II but he was an all-america first teamer. Hes a giant and has lots of hype.
5th round- Sam Young- Hes a little underweight but has lots of size and played quite well in the Senior Bowl.
5th round- Ryan Matthews- had a great senior campaign and led the nation with 50+ yard runs. Can change gams and is a home-run hitter, has good size and strength.
6th round- Bradon Sharpe- projected more toward the 5th but could slip...you never know in the draft. Had a huge senior campaign with 18tfl and 15 sacks.
Let the comments begin
First 3 rounds
I know that everyone thinks that we are not going to get someone to bid on a trade offer to get out of the #2 spot, and this is even if we would want to trade down. however, this is how i would LOVE it to go.
Trade the #2 too someone for an extra 2nd rounder... unless Suh is for some reason still there
In the 2nd round draft Iupati and Graham. We would have 2 great starters that could help us tremendously.
In the 3rd round draft McCluster. I know that hes not the ideal running back for some people and even the lions, however I think he is starting to impress the coaching staff and is showing his abilities. If he puts on 20 lbs or so he would be a great pick for us. he can go out for passes and be really effective in the running game.
I would also like to maybe see us trade our #2 for a lower pick like the 7th or 8th spot and get Morgan. Hes a total beast and is lifting the lions coaching staffs eyebrows. than i would take Iupati or Dan Williams.
Possibly later in the round gilyard if we lose on mccluster....... Opinions!?
Why we should draft him
Eric Berry... this video shows it all. he has everything we need in a db. big hits and picks. ive watched highlights of mccoy too, but i wasnt as impressed as i was with berry. and if u havent noticed, i havent included suh cause im already ruling him out. however is for some magical reason hes there, i wud take him over both of the, but im comparing these two.... so give me you thoughts
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-PG04d4-sI
opinions?
Anybody hear anything?
I have been trying to find out what the lions are looking to do this off-season. i know we need to look for a #1 rb, mayhew said it himself, and we need someone good on defense. also im wondering if their are any recent rumors about anyone "decent" coming to detroit. anyone have anything to say?
id also like to say i would prefer berry over mccoy, he has an instinct for being around the all, reading plays, and making turnovers, him and delmas in the backfield could be phenom. i think that mccoy would be a good pick too, just the only problem is, is that he doesnt put up the numbers neeed to go #2 in the draft... thougts?
thanks
2010 Mock
1st round- Suh.. rams have to go with a qb knowing they have NOTHING
2nd round- Greg Hardy..great at getting ro the qb, can develp into something amazing
3rd round- Jonothan Dwyer.. strong and fast we need a rb, bc smith wont b 100% and can't stay on his feet when he is, also morris is getting old and cant take every carry
4th round- akwasi owusu-ansah.. good height and great coverage..also effective on special teams, 5+ tds
5th round- Myron Rolle.. mayb have abonded team for scholarship but doesnt effect his game, great size and great player
5th round- Brandon Sharpe.. having a monster year w/ 11+ tfl and 10+ sacks in only eight games
6th roound- Dennis Landolt.. all big ten honorable mention.. very good pick in 7th
Let me know wht you think. I know their is only one ol, but i think our line will improve next year seeing how they improved this year from last year.
