Predicting the Score by the Numbers

I wanted to create an unbiased prediction of the score for this week’s game, but being a lifelong Charger fan I found that to be rather though.  My solution was to turn to stats, if I could look at and compare each team’s average points for and against points per game totals I thought might somehow be able to predict the score without bias.  Click below to see what I came up with.

Power Rankings from Around the Web (Week 8)

After two straight wins Chargers have squeaked back into the top half of the experts rankings at number 16.  The Eagles look to be the big winners this week moving up four sports and getting back in the top ten while the Giants look to be the big losers falling all the way down to number 12.  For the rest of the power rankings please click below.

Power Rankings from Around the Web (Week 7)

The Chargers only jump up one spot to number 17 this week, which I guess is understandable after beating the mighty Chiefs.  The Cowboys seem to be the big winners this week moving up 5 spots to crack the top 10, while the Falcons seem to be the big losers dropping 7 spots to number 14.  To see the full power rankings please click below.

Power Rankings from Around the Web (Week 6)

Almost all of the experts agree that the Saints are the best team in the NFL, while no experts can agree on where to rank the Chargers. The Chargers moved up 2 spots to number 14 in the ESPN power rankings and fell all the way down to number 21 in the pro football talk power rankings, in the end they average out to number 18 overall. Power Rankings from Around the Web (Week 5)

As would be expected the Chargers stayed stagnate at number 16 during their bye week.  The Broncos however have shot up to number 5 after their win over the Patriots.  If the Chargers take care of business Monday night they may be able to crack the top ten again.  Click below to see the full power rankings.
