As per Nick Kypreos tweet:
I'm told clubs have been notified they are out of Mitchell race. Look for LA Kings to announce Willie Mitchell soon on a multi year deal.
Join me in a collective "eff".
Here is what Matthew Wuest (who runs capgeek.com and also contributes to the local paper here in Halifax as a QMJHL reporter) had to say about Konrad Abeltshauser at this point of the pre-season:
Konrad Abeltshauser is quietly playing well. Scouts have their concerns with him, but if he isn’t playing in the NHL six years from now, I’ll be shocked. He’s big enough, mobile enough and smart enough to be effective at the next level, like a Jonathan Ericsson in Detroit.
Definitely great news for Sharks fans. No doubt he's more of a long-term project but in the Sharks organization, who isn't?
First look at Konrad Abeltshauser this season
I just got home from Intra-squad game #3 at the Halifax Mooseheads training camp where I got to take a look at Konrad Abeltshauser for the first time this season.
I uploaded a couple videos, forgive the quality. They were recorded on my Blackberry with a low battery but they give an idea of what type of player Konrad is. He is the monster #8 in green, can't really miss him.
Video 1: A few nice breakout passes (creates quality scoring chance at end)

3 reasons the Q league is a must-follow for Sharks fans this season
Being a Sharks fan in Atlantic Canada is tough. Not only am I 6,000 km away from the team and most media covering it, but watching a Sharks game requires me to buy NHL GameCenter and stay up until 2-2:30AM. The CBC only broadcasts 2-3 Sharks games per season when they happen to play in Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton on a Saturday night. I've only seen a Sharks game in person once in my life and I had to pay a lot of money to fly to Toronto to do it. Sharks highlights are rarely shown on busy sports nights and if they are, it's usually just a quick game summary. Most of the attention the NHL gets around here is focused on the Leafs, Habs and Sidney Crosby (I live ten minutes from where he grew up).
Yet, it's all worth it.
