A Sea Of Blue Grinch-like NCAA Stomps on Kids' Dreams

I typically don't fall into the NCAA is an evil Illuminated organization created by the Rothchilds, the Gettys, the Vatican, the Queen and Col. Sanders that exists for the twin goals of the subjugation of mankind and to stick it to the University of Kentucky.

A Sea Of Blue ESPN 3 Technical Help Open Thread

Some of us are more technologically inclined than others, but since the Cats are only going to be shown live on the internet channel ESPN3, I figured there might be several Luddites that could use some advice before tomorrow.

So i created this post to serve as an open thread for people to ask questions on getting ESPN3 working, ported to their TVs, etc.

Lexington will be home to a reinstated sidewalk rivalry with UK and Transy playing each other for the first time in 100 years.

Personally, I wish they would play the game in Memorial. It would be nice if one game a season could be played in the old gym and this series would be a perfect fit.

A Sea Of Blue UK Hoops playing for SEC Championship...RIGHT NOW!!!

The women have not held a SEC title since 1982.  Not only would ending the drought be great, but it would won by the BBN defeating the Volunteers twice in one day.   In their own house.

ESPN 2 and ESPN 3

Cheer the women as they hopefully bring home the SEC title to Lexington.

I will take the liberty of declaring this an open game thread.

And not how the Cardinal Chronicle is usually funny. I couldn't resist adding my own comments and observations.

A Sea Of Blue A Non-Zero Sum Game

I am considering a revolutionary change in our household.

Cancelling the cable.

The vast majority of the shows we watch are available for free streaming on Netflix or Hulu and the ones that we must watch NOW (I am looking at you Lost), can be purchased on iTunes for only a couple of bucks an episode.  Add it up and it results in a substantial savings when the cable bill is $100+ each month.

There is a catch.  UK basketball and football games.

I am serious when I say that UK games are the only thing holding us back from cuting the cable and relying on a strictly internet based television system.

I can subscribe to ESPN360 and watch the games on the computer but that doesn't really work well.  I haven't figured out a way to get it on the TV and even if I could, the resolution is crappy.  I know that there are some fellow ASOBers out there that are watching games via the internet, and was hoping that this wonderful community could offer a little advice.

As anyone found a high resolution internet based system to watch UK games on the TV?  Am I crazy for considering such a system?  As anyone else made the jump to IP based TV?

A Sea Of Blue A Dilemma to Ponder

In less than a week, I fly to South Dakota to spend Christmas with my wife's family.  The question becomes, where do I watch the Drexel game and UK's potential 2000th win?

My in-laws' TV is a 20" circa 1982 with a color pallet resembling a box of crayons left on the pavement in the middle of July.

My brother in-laws' TV is a 58" 1081p monster but he hates Kentucky and his wife's enthusiasm during the game will resemble a wet blanket left in the washer for a month.

The closest bar showing the game will be an hour drive (at best) and would necessitate I drag my 3 year old into a smoke filled bar.

What to do, what to do.

So Big Blue Nation, if you were in my shoes, where would you watch this (possibly) historic game?

A Sea Of Blue Response to a Hoya

(This was written as a comment to a post on a Casual Hoya, but it became too long for a comment, hence the FanPost).

I apologize for not writing a more timely follow-up to your post, but I passed a couple of full length mirrors and became distracted.

As an official representative of the People’s Mepublic of Big Bluistan, I would like to take this opportunity to express our extreme pleasure in your public acknowledgement of hating all things Kentucky.  It is our policy to further advance animosity between our beloved Wildcats and other fans around the nation.

Poor inter-collegiate relations is an important component in the world realizing that the University of Kentucky possesses the most awesomely awesome basketball program in the entire galaxy.  You question the need for our Big Blue Madness to be translated into 7 languages, but what you don’t understand is that it is for the betterment of mankind.  Obviously, Wildcat basketball would be the primary reason alien intelligent life would visit our planet, and as such, probability states that the televised broadcast of Big Blue Madness would be the alien’s Rosetta Stone for understanding our languages.

In my anti-diplomatic role, allow me to provide you with a few more reasons to hate on Kentucky.

1.      Our cheerleading squad has won the Division 1 National Championship, 13 out of the last 15 years.  Not only are the extremely good at what they do, but they are awful purty doing it.

2.       We get to drink bourbon as part of the eating locally movement.

3.       Wind power is going to bring great wealth to our state because of the high wind speeds due to the fact that Ohio sucks and Tennessee blows.

4.       We don’t have to live in such close proximity to Congress.

In closing, I would like thank you for hating Kentucky and look forward to fostering our status as enemies in the future.
