Hogs Haven Should the Shanaplan include Jacoby Jones??

Obviously Kyle Shanahan is familiar with Jacoby Jones and at some point must have believed in his talents as a receiver. Still young at 27 years old, with 5 years in the league, his primary strength has been returning punts (which adds to his overall value).

In my opinion, increased competition at the wide receiver position is important in camp to determine which receiver develops the trust and confidence of not only the Shanahans but also the new franchise quarterback (RG!!!).

Bullets Forever It is official.. 2nd best chance to draft the Unibrow

Now we can all officially cheer for every win. And no worse than the 5th pick.... This alone is worth a celebration!!

Before our recent run of wins, I did not think 2nd position was in doubt. Although finishing strong has been discussed, and it is not known about how this will carry over into next season.. I would like to give credit to Jordan Crawford for stating that he wanted to get to 20 wins. Here's hoping that comes true.

Bullets Forever Summer of 2011 --- Free Agent Targets??

Obviously, team needs will become clearer in the coming months.

March Madness provides a great look at how well future NBA draft picks will perform on a big stage and ping pong balls will bounce (Irene Pollin - One More Time!!!).  But the available free agents (both restricted and unrestricted) SHOULD be included in team plans PRIOR to the draft.

Note:  Get Nick Young re-signed early to move on to other objectives.

Thoughts... Suggestions... Discussion...

Bullets Forever If the Wizards lose to the Cavaliers on Sunday...

As embarrassing as the Cavaliers losing drought is (Especially to Dan Gilbert.. who prior to the start of the season pronounced that even without Le Crab Dribble, his Cavs would make the playoffs), I contend that DC's road losing streak is far worse.

Recently, Mike Prada posted the reasons a middle-of-the-season firing would not be beneficial, but just like JaVale gets benched for his dribbling exhibitions, at some point the coach must be held accountable.

Keep this simple... If the Wizards lose to the Cavaliers Sunday then:
Flip Saunders should be fired immediately

Bullets Forever How disappointed should DC fans be...

after Carmelo Anthony is traded to the New Jersey Nets??

Obviously the topic of trying to acquire Carmelo Anthony has been discussed here.  When first reported that Denver was considering a trade - a slim majority (56% of 182 BF poll voters) agreed "to do whatever it takes (excluding John Wall)" to get Carmelo Anthony.

Soon after, it was reported (Michael Lee) that DC "made an obligatory call to the Denver Nuggets to check on the availability of all-star forward Carmelo Anthony. The league source added that the Wizards were simply doing their due diligence and that the same phone call was made by "29 teams. Carmelo is pretty good."

The realistic likelihood of DC trading for Carmelo Anthony was dismissed as a "Pipe Dream" and it was pointed out (Mike Prada) that it is not feasible with our assets (players, recent/future draft picks, expiring contracts) to "have the right combination of contracts to make salaries work unless Denver takes on Hinrich, which is almost certainly not happening."

However, how disappointed should DC basketball fans be after the addition of Carmelo Anthony will immediately place the lowly, last-place New Jersey Nets firmly in the playoff conversation??

(Off Topic:  How disappointed should Redskins fans be if Vincent Jackson gets traded to the Vikings??)

Very!! Our front office needs to "think outside the box -- sitting back and praying young players are going to develop is a long shot!" (Killa_Kev)

Bullets Forever Off to see the Wizards.... Carmelo Anthony???

With confirmed reports that Carmelo Anthony wants out of Denver (possibly prior to the upcoming season)... which trade scenarios would realistically make sense for Denver?

Personally, I feel that J Wall is the only player off the table (Even A Blatche would have to be expendable).

Although, this trade would go against Management's plan of staying young and building through the draft, bringing in a top-5 NBA player, and local hero (Baltimore) HAS to be the top priority.

Poll
With Carmelo Anthony possibly available, Management should....
Do whatever it takes to get Carmelo Anthony (excluding J Wall)

Stay the course and let young players develop

Bullets Forever Go and Get the Top-Five Draft Pick From...

Philadelphia.... if the front office believes that either Favors, Turner, or Cousins is a potential franchise type star, then acquiring the #2 Pick is mandatory.  However, Blatche has shown enough to make himself "untouchable", and should not be included to make the deal work.  Every other asset should be made available, even future protected #1s.

DC is currently NOT attractive to any Max Free Agents, so if Ted believes that another franchise type player is available at #2, then taking the number two pick with Brands contract off the books in 2013 is the right move.. In three years when Wall and the 2nd pick (Favors / Cousins / Turner) are more seasoned, DC has cap room and only a year to go with Arenas. Then with a core of three good young starters (Wall/ #2 Draft Pick / Blatche) that have grown together and become more comfortable in Flip's system... DC becomes attractive to a max level free agent to complete the formula for a Championship..

On Draft Day....
Get #2 Pick and Brand's contract from Philadelphia

Bullets Forever Free-Agents Want Championships

No one believes that the Wizards will make a run at any "top level" free-agent this year... Mainly, because we are not viewed by outsiders as an attractive enough organization.  In order to get a "top-level" free-agent this year or any other year, the Wizards must be considered a championship contender.  Carmelo Anthony, considered by many to be the most coveted free-agent available next year will be 27 and will most likely sign his last max contract next year.  The BOYD strategy has been discussed in length, however; the strategy of acquiring young "unproven" talent to become a contender is a gamble, especially when there are proven players available via trade or free agency.  I sincerely hope that "John Wall Mania" will immediately legitimize this franchise and help to entice free agents to DC.

Instead of more draft picks, an additional Top-5 draft pick should be the main objective (Much higher chance of developing into a starter)... Am I alone in wanting proven NBA talent, instead of more draft picks that never become legitimate starters in the league???
