Crosby Neck Injury Revealed
Vaccaro determined an MRI and CAT scan indicated no evidence of a fracture in Crosby's neck - as had been rumored during All-Star weekend - instead confirming a California doctor's diagnosis that Crosby is dealing with a soft-tissue injury.
Sidney Crosby resumes skating
For whatever that is worth
Should Crosby Give Up His C?
Okay just hear me out before you push me off the ledge... First, I'm not saying that Crosby should do it because I don't think he'll be back again(although I am in the crowd that doubts he'll play again this season). But really the concussion and injuries and missed games has little to do with my main reason for even thinking about this. And trust me... it's just a thought, I'm not even sure if I think it would be a good idea.
NHL All Star Voting
What do you put the chances of Sid making the team? I would put the Over/Under at like 99% :)

Kennedy hopes to re-sign with Penguins
But Kennedy says he isn't really interested in testing the free-agent market. His agent has been in discussions with the Pens and Kennedy is optimistic an agreement can be reached before the noon deadline on Friday.
"We're talking, so hopefully we can get a deal done before then," Kennedy said on Tuesday.
He would prefer to remain in Pittsburgh, but there are no guarantees, he said.
"You never know, it's hockey. I'm not really sure what's going to happen," he said. "I enjoy Pittsburgh. I have a lot of good friends there. I think we have a good team, and obviously I want to try to win a Cup again. There's a good opportunity there to try to do that again."

I guess our PP will suck again next year as well...
Horton to miss remainder of Playoffs
Bad hit, Rome should miss the rest of the playoffs and maybe some games next season for this hit.
After Worlds, Jagr ponders his hockey future
"Jagr was invited by the organization to a summer golf event that will reunite the members of the Penguins' first Cup-winning team, but he declined the invitation on the basis that he does not enjoy golfing. "
Shero addresses Jagr, Crosby issues
"We were able to get that invitation to him, and we'd like to acknowledge his involvement with the organization," Shero said, adding that he has not spoken with Jagr's agents. "That's really all there was to it."
Reports: Penguins want to renew ties with Jagr

Concussion’s dark days prompt Kristina Groves to post ‘Dear Sid’ letter
"I read in the paper last week that you’ve encountered a setback on the road to recovery from your concussion. I knew that you’d been back on the ice with your teammates and that things were going pretty well. Then one day you pushed it a little too hard and unfortunately slid back into ‘symptom-land’. I felt really bad for you when I read the article because it seemed like you were getting there and it’s really hard to accept that you’re not. I feel your pain, believe me. I’ve been a regular visitor to the mysterious and unpredictable ‘symptom-land’ recently. I’m surprised I haven’t seen you there, as we have tended to arrive at the same time. Maybe you’re staying at a different hotel!
We’ve never met, you and I, although I feel like I know you because, well, you’re a famous Canadian hockey star. And I watched with pure joy as you scored the OT winner at the Olympics in Vancouver, which instantly and forever connected you with every beating Canadian heart alive at that moment. Thank you for that goal!
We did cross paths once though, quite literally in fact, after the closing ceremonies in Vancouver in the Athletes Village. I was walking to the food tent, you were walking back. Me, gushing in whispers to my BF. that it was you. You, simply walking by nonchalantly with one of your teammates. Our jacket sleeves almost touched. Sorry if that sounded creepy."

NHL just making injuries worse
The NHL feels it is doing what it can to prevent such injuries from happening, but Flyers senior vice president Bob Clarke believes the league's approach is all wrong.
In Clarke's opinion, suspensions and fines aren't the answer. Hockey once was policed by the players, and that was the only deterrent needed. But with the instigator rule, players are reluctant to retaliate for a questionable hit, so it's become the Wild West out there.
"These players now have no fear of what they do on the ice, because their opponents can't get even," Clarke said the other day. "(NHL vice president) Colin Campbell is the judge, jury and executioner. And it's not working. It's a total failure what Colie is trying to do.
"(Vancouver's) Raffi Torres gets suspended for four games (for injuring Edmonton's Jordan Eberle) and he comes back and the first thing he says is, 'I'm not changing my game.' So he goes out and tries to hurt (Chicago's Keith) Seabrook.
Penguins pest Matt Cooke: I want to come back
Great article
Talking like a team player -- which at his best he is -- Cooke blamed himself for the Penguins' first-round departure.
"Maybe even if I was playing it wouldn't have made a difference, but I would way rather be out there helping and going to battle with my teammates," Cooke told the Post-Gazette.
Neal to Play for Canada at World Championships
Penguins winger James Neal has been added to Team Canada’s roster for the 2011 IIHF World Hockey Championships, taking place April 29 to May 15 in Kosice, Slovakia.
"I’m excited," Neal said. "Any time you can play for your country it’s an exciting experience. I’m looking forward to getting over there and having some fun and keep the season going. To keep playing is good."
Neal left Friday afternoon for Europe to join his Team Canada teammates in Slovakia. He’s using the international competition as a way to keep himself on the ice.
"It’s a chance to keep going, keep playing, keep competing," Neal said.
International competition is not new to Neal. He won a gold medal with Canada in the 2007 World Junior Championships in Sweden, and represented his country in the 2005 U-18 World Juniors and ’09 World Championships.
"It’s another chance to put on the Team Canada jersey," Neal said. "To represent your country is an exciting experience. Any time you’re chosen for Team Canada you want to be a part of it.
Crosby: Symptoms recurred during comeback try
From NHL.com:
PITTSBURGH -- Penguins star Sidney Crosby is optimistic about returning fully healthy for next season, but acknowledges he recently had a setback in his recovery from a concussion.
Crosby, who didn’t play this season after Jan. 5, stopped skating with his teammates during off-day practices and morning skates midway through the Penguins’ seven-game playoff series loss to Tampa Bay because he began experiencing concussion-related symptoms.
Previously, Crosby said those included headaches that made it impossible to take part in any physical activity.
Crosby still has not resumed working out and intends to remain sidelined for an indefinite period.
"I was working out and skating, but had a little bit of symptoms so I had to take a step back," Crosby said Friday, two days after the Penguins' season ended. "All the stuff that comes with it. Up to that point the progression had gone pretty well, but at the same time I still wasn't ready.
"(It's) frustrating. My expectation was that I wouldn't play, but I was trying to make sure that if there was any chance and it was possible to come back, that I was ready and did everything I could to be ready for that. It's frustrating and disappointing. You can't really control any of that. All I can control is what I was doing off the ice and trying to rehab. Unfortunately it didn't work out."

Penguins' current power play plan isn't working
Understatement of the year????
The Penguins score power-play goals about as often as coach Dan Bylsma tips his hand regarding lineup changes.
Bylsma did, however, suggest that a lineup change was possible following Game 6. Does this mean that Eric Tangradi, who has been influential in the team's past two power-play goals, will play in Game 7 tonight against the Lightning?
"That's a maybe," Bylsma said.
Tangradi played in Game 4 because of left wing Chris Kunitz's one-game suspension. Tyler Kennedy's power-play goal happened largely because of Tangradi's ability to screen Tampa Bay goaltender Dwayne Roloson.
In the regular season finale, another Tangradi screen helped Kennedy score a power-play goal at Atlanta.
NHL Playoffs 2011: 3 Changes Needed for Pittsburgh Penguins to Win Game
Not a huge fan of bleacher report as anyone can create a blog and post there and get picked up by Google news... but this guy agrees with me so I'm posting it ;)
Basically replace Niskanen with Engelland, Replace Connor with Tangradi and Shake up the Powerplay by inserting more of Rupp & Asham to stir it up in front of the net.
Talbot had me cracking up on Orpik
More on 'coach' Crosby
Looks must be deceiving because Crosby certainly looked 10 shades of intense watching the game, but Granato said Crosby's comments were fairly few and far between and relatively light.
"He mostly said things like, 'Tell the guys great job,' 'Tell the guys to keep 'er going,' 'Tell someone great play along the boards,' 'Tell someone great net-front presence,'" Granato said. "It was always positive."
