Revenge of the Birds Is it too early to think about our 53-man roster?

I saw AZCardinals480 put up a post yesterday about which five players would be released as the Cards sign the rest of their draft picks.  I was surprised when I looked at the current roster that some very good players might not even make it to training camp, given the depth of talent Whiz and Co have put together.  Which, again, got me to thinking who are the best 53?  And who gets let go before week 1?

Considering it is only July, there are some guesses, hunches and a couple of reaches here, but here is my 53 right now...

Special Teams (3)

Kicker (1)- Jay Feely

Punter (1)- Ben Graham

Long Snapper (1)- Mike Leach

The three easiest roster spots to predict barring injury.  Three solid players with no competition going into camp in each spot.

Revenge of the Birds azcardinals.com reports Garvin out with torn meniscus

After a great opening preseason game it is a shame that, ROTB favorite, MRG will be having surgery to repair a torn meniscus.  This could be a 10 week or so recovery time, but I am betting he is headed for IR.  With Breaston hurting, who will get the kick and punt returns this week?  I am assuming that Rolle will get more looks at punts while LSH gets a shot at kickoff returns.  I think someone here posted that Urban was getting reps on kick return too, with such a tight competition for wide receiver roster spots, you know Urban would jump at that opportunity.

I hope Whis realizes the danger he is putting Breaston in by having him so involved on special teams.  Maybe the silver lining here is that the coaching staff will work harder to find other players to fill the punt and kick return roles.  Thoughts??

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -The Arizona Cardinals signed free agent defensive end Alex Field to a one-year contract Thursday and put defensive end Jason Banks on injured reserve because of a knee injury.

The 6-foot-7 Field was originally signed by the New York Giants in April as an undrafted rookie free agent but was released June 29.

Field had 71 tackles, two fumble recoveries and 7.5 sacks in his four-year career at Virginia.
