Penn State Wrestling - How many Huskers does it take to change a lightbulb

in Rec Hall? Trick question, they don't change the bulbs, they just count the lights. Open thread for the PSU/Nebraska wrestling match today. Few quick updates: Nico will be receiving a...

Who's up for some more wrestling? Penn State taking on Purdue.

So after a solid outing against Wisconsin, Cael & Co. are on their way to Purdue. Per bscaff's preview, the probable matchups are: 125: #2 Nico vs. #17 (RSJR) Camden Eppert 133: UR Jordan...

Eagles to Interview O'Brien

Of note from the article: The Eagles, Cardinals and Browns all intend to interview O'Brien. The Patriot News reports that Penn State is preparing an offer to keep O'Brien in Happy Valley, perhaps in the form of a salary increase.

Nittany Lion Open Recap

Penn State have 5 champions and posted a combined 97 - 34 record with 23 pins. On a side note, did anybody see MRob's hit on Chicago's Jennings yesterday? I've been looking for video of it all morning but haven't found it.

Penn State vs. Lehigh Wrestling Thread

Since we don't have full wrestling coverage on BSD for this match, I figured I'd post this thread and update the matches as they're going on. Feel free to follow along, join in, or do a better job...

How to Judge the BCS

I know the end of the BCS is coming, and that we're not even eligible for it anyway. But as a change of pace and topic, I figured what the hell. There's a lot of talk right now about Kansas...

I'm tired of being exploited.

With the latest news of Spanier being charged for perjury and obstruction of justice making waves across the MSM in spite of apparently no additional evidence or information, it leads me to the...

Ode to O'Brien

After a wonderful win against Iowa, it got me reflecting and trying to measure exactly what we have with O'Brien. While it's still too early to really gauge O'Brien's tenure, the signs are pointing...

NW to have Naptime before Nebraska game.

Fitzgerald almost could not believe he agreed to it. "Unbelievable," he said. "This is what I get paid to do. Seriously. Create nap time. It's pathetic." A snooze-in at the team hotel six hours before kickoff? Quarterback Kain Colter loves the idea. "We'll wake up, have our pregame meal, do our mental things and then have a mandatory nap," he said. "Those hotel beds are really comfortable and the pillows are soft. … (Then) we'll come down refreshed and ready to kick some butt." This is NOT an Onion article.

Something Worth Watching From the BTN

Thank you to all who have served. I know there's quite a few on this site, and you don't hear it enough.

Observations from Saturday

I know that there will be a lot of excellent front page posts this week from the staff of this site about the Temple game. They'll undoubtedly dive deeper into analysis and statistics than I can...

I have a confession.

This morning on my way to work, I listened to Mike & Mike on ESPN radio. It wasn't intentional. I was listening to a show co-hosted by Charles Barkley on my way home from work yesterday (and he...

The Moving On Fallacy

There's a lot of talk about our community "moving on". The start of the football season is supposed to be the next step in whatever our healing process is supposed to be which will help us to...

Where I'm At.

So based on the events that have transpired over the final few weeks, here's where I'm at and where I think we're headed. Feel free to agree, disagree or shoot me. I'm sick and it's a Monday. The...

OT: Olympic Open Thread

I'm pretty warn out by all the Penn State speculation and coverage. We can't even move the Paterno statue without it being front page news. So let's take our minds off it a bit and hopefully let...

To those who claim we still don't get it...

I've considered several different ways of saying this. It started out as defensive and sarcastic, but that would have only interfered with the message. I thought about sounding repentant, but...

Open Address to the BoT

I have no intentions of this post or the conversation that ensues to discuss the Freeh report or our opinions and condemnation of those involved. This is just something that I feel needs to be...

Putting THON into perspective.

We all know how successful THON is, and considering that it's run by students makes it all the more amazing. This week is Jimmy V Week at ESPN, and my personal feelings aside, they do an amazing...

Playoffs, we're talking about playoffs!

We will have a 4 team playoff starting in 2014. A lot of details need to be worked out, and it still needs final approval from the BCS officials, but it seems like it's going to happen. Not quite...

Peetz Addresses Faculty Senate

Per this article from ESPN in her meeting with the faculty senate: Penn State's trustees are considering structural changes to improve transparency including the addition of an outreach...

NCAA Proposed Kickoff Rule Changes

From the article: The committee voted to move the kickoff to the 35-yard line (currently set at the 30-yard line), and to require that kicking team players must be no closer than five yards from the 35 at the kick, which is intended to limit the running start kicking teams have during the play. The committee also voted to move the touchback distance on free kicks to the 25-yard line instead of the 20-yard line to encourage more touchbacks. NCAA data indicates injuries during kickoffs occur more often than in other phases of the game. There are some other proposed changes in the article as well, but the kickoff changes seem to be the most significant and similar to what the NFL has changed. I'm fairly certain these were the similar proposals the NFL made before settling on moving the kickoff up to the 35 yard line and cutting the rest. Either way, looks like some changes might be in store.

Tressel Hired by Akron as Administrator.

The former Ohio State coach, who resigned in disgrace last May amid a cash-for-tattoos scandal at the football powerhouse, was hired by Akron on Thursday as vice president of strategic engagement,—a position newly created for him.

My Shot at the Truth

Based on some conversations within other FanPosts, I wanted to take a shot at assembling a possible explanation of events regarding the whole Sandusky situation. Please keep in mind that I am...

The Human Condition

Based on the response that I've seen in the days after the scandal as well as the way people continue to react, it's really made me ponder the human condition. I'll spare the trouble of reading...
