Well, this is very upsetting. New he was suffering from cancer but still horrible to see this.

Report on ESPN about Arroyo and the supplements he takes regularly.

My question is, how bad would his numbers look if here weren't taking unapproved supplements?

Holy crap...really didn't see that coming, even without Iniesta.

Lone Star Ball OT: Champions League (spoilers)

It's here, ladies and gentlemen.   The knockout round (first) is here and in a little less than an hour, some very nice match-ups kick off.  First legs are today and tomorrow.  I will be recording and watching later this evening so, after the matches start, I will not be following up on this site (just in case).  I did tag it with 'spoiler' because someone may want to discuss the matches as they are played.  I know that we have several people on the site that are fans of football so I have to ask:  Who ya got?

Tuesday:

Arsenal v. Roma

Lyon v. Barcelona

Atletico v. Porto

Internazionale v. Manchester United

Wednesday:

Chelsea v. Juventus

Villareal v. Panathinaikos

Real Madrid v. Liverpool

Sporting Lisbon v. Bayern Munich

Hope everyone enjoys!

Lone Star Ball OT: Michael Crichton

This will probably cause some arguements because of some of his beliefs regarding global warming but I thought I would post this story.  Michael Crichton has died at the age of 66 from a "short" battle with cancer.  Not sure how long "short" is suppose to be but he was apparently keeping it private.  Really enjoyed his books but, unfortunately, they were all turned into horrible movies, in my humble opinion.

Lone Star Ball Very OT: Fantasy Football

I know that I have seen a couple of posts about this recently.  Anyone getting a league together with a live draft?  Two people interested if anyone is setting one up or is still waiting to fill one up.

I am currently in a baseball league with LSB'ers and like the fact that everyone seems to stay interested in the league for the entire season.

Lone Star Ball ESPN Debate

Stark reviews the seasons of Hamilton and Quentin.  Didn't see this anywhere else so if it has already been link'd, my apologies for the redundancy.  Several questions from people about Hamilton/Quentin and the affect they have on their respective teams.  Interesting discussion, I thought, since I actually agree with Stark for a change.  As much as I love Hamilton, I think Quentin is the MVP so far this season.

Lone Star Ball Gagne A Brewer

According to ESPNEWS.

One-line diaries are prohibited on Lone Star Ball. Give your diary a bit more thought, then give it another shot. If you have nothing to add to your proposed diary, then it probably belongs as a comment under another appropriate thread.

The minimum is 300 characters.

Lone Star Ball Cordero

Well, I planned on continuing to back Cordero until he actually cost the Rangers a win. That day has come and I am at the breaking point. As much as I like what Cordero has done in the past and as much as I expect him to overcome this and excel again, I think a move needs to be made now before the clubhouse is affected any more than it may have already been. Otsuka...Alfonseca (shiver)...Benoit...whoever the Rangers feel most comfortable with but just not Cordero right now. I hate to say this because it is sad but Cordero reminds me of Foulke last year (was that too harsh?).

Lone Star Ball Soriano traded?

Anyone seen the details? ESPNEWS reporting as Breaking News of Soriano for Wilkerson and Terrmel Sledge and minor leaguer to be named later. Anyone interested? Anyone think this frees up Nix for trade with Sledge headed this way. Or maybe Mench in a deal for Zito? There has to be a pitching trade upcoming, right?
