I need your help deciding who should be my annual jersey purchase for the season. I already have a retro Sheets and white Hart. I love Prince, but he's a little too obvious. I'm considering Braun, but he almost goes in that category too. The problem is that I'm just not seeing the diamond in the rough like there was with Hart last year. If you could guarantee me Suppan would have a good year, I would get that. If we had Gagne another year, I'd get that. And, a Turnbow would be a fun thing to light on fire mid-to-late-July. Please feel free to provide suggestions.

I almost didn't post this, but I figured somebody would eventually do it anyway, so here it is:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3266177&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines

No real new information to any of us, I just wanted to point out how badly I feel for Prince every time the subject comes up. He's clearly expressed that this is a personal matter and something he doesn't want to discuss publicly. Very understandably so in my opinion. Yet, the subject always seems to come up a couple times a year and I suspect it will only continue to do so as the Brewers raise in prominence nationally. Too bad.

To ESPN's credit, they don't appear at any point in the article to have attempted to approach Prince about the story, but he will undoubtedly continue to face questions about it from others nonetheless. I'm just glad the Milwaukee media seems to treat him with some respect when it comes to his personal life. Whether that out of respect or just because they consider it an old story I'm not sure, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

when will the Brewers announce their promotional schedule. have they already done this? I'm really curious which bobbleheads I need to make room for on my bookshelf. Assuming they stick with their usual 4, my guess is they do JJ, Corey, Suppan and Gagne. Possibly a former player in place of Gagne. (Kieschnick?) My guess is they hold off on Braun for another season.

Here's something I hadn't considered.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2007/11/brewers-padres.html

I haven't really put much thought into this yet, but I 'd like to know people's thoughts on this. I doubt we'll sign the guy, but if we did, where would he play, As the article points out, there are basically two options:

A.) He plays 3B, moving Braun to the OF, or
B.) We play him at 2B and move Weeks to CF

The thought of Iguchi on out team is intriguing, but I feel like there are better options out there. I'd rather see the money spent on good bullpen help or a true LFer. (How about a home town discount, Geoff Jenkins?) Maybe he's part of the package that will bring Carl Crawford to town.

I almost wrote this Tues. night, and it's probably a good thing I didn't. The venom flowing through my veins at the time I'm sure would have resulted in a very profanity-laced, vile and offense post about everybody's favorite, Ned Yost. That said, I am no more optimistic today as I was that night. I could go on about the number of horrible decisions that were made, but you all saw them. Tues. night was undoubtedly the worst. Starting with the premature yanking of Jeff Suppan, there were about 10 decisions/non-decisions that were (or were not) made - and I absolutely disagreed with every single one of them. My plea to Melvin is this - don't even wait until the end of the season, fire Ned now. I know you're probably thinking that no matter whom you bring in (or more likely, who you promote in the interim), at this point in the season, they could not do a better job than Ned. He knows the players better than anyone and all that noise, but the fact remains that this team is going absolutely nowhere with him at the helm. I'm just glad I was able to attend it first hand and not witness it on the FSN or WGN feed. I am absolutely sick of seeing him sit in the dugout all content while the crew blow one of their numerous leads on the season. I've had enough of that smug look he has on his face while our team is falling apart. Does he even care? This was suppose to be the year we came together as a team, did things that haven't been done in Milwaukee since the early '80 and given the city it's first playoff race in recent memory. We didn't even ask to make the playoffs; we just wanted to be in it at the end when things were decided. You can sit there and say that we're only 2 1/2 back with a month to go and I'm over-reacting. The fact is though, the way things have been going since mid-May, there's no reason to think we can suddenly turn this thing around. Statistically, we are still in the hunt. But, after blowing a 13 game lead on the division, forgive me if I can't be too excited about that. I remember sitting in a bar with a friend on opening day and joking about how, no matter what, the Brewers this year could not be any more disappointing than the Badgers' basketball team and how glad we were to have that whole debacle behind us. I was wrong. By the time the initial disappointment of blowing our division lead had worn off, the wild card chase had come and gone without us being able to enjoy any of it. Yes, there's still a month to go and plenty of time to come back and win the division; but having followed every pitch of the team since April 2, I can't even muster up the hope. Our outlook for next year still looks bright - Gallardo will be another year older and I still have faith in Suppan. All we need is another starter or two and a replacement for Cordero once he bolts (moving Braun to the OF wouldn't hurt either). As for this season, I've already written it off. Thanks, Ned - and thank god you don't coach college football. Does anybody know a good Badgers blog?
