I'm celebrating 40 years of sportswriting experience. (OK, wise guys, yes, I started before computers, when we used manual typewriters and carbon paper! You might even find some of my cave scratchings at the University of Tennessee.) I've written for The Indianapolis Star, Seattle Times, Newark Star-Ledger, Chicago Tribune, and the Ontario-San Bernardino newspaper group. My specialty has been drag racing for 16 years. Regular contributor to National Speed Sport News (NHRA and NASCAR) for about 14 years and Competition Plus e-zine for about 10 years. Founded 1320 TV (2006-2009), the first and only all-video, all-drag racing website. Recipient of 2008 Russ Catlin Award and $1,000 scholarship donated to Indiana University. Won a total of $1,800 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for writing awards through the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association (AARWBA). Was AARWBA national vice-president. Was beat writer for motorsports, baseball, hockey, and soccer but have covered just about every sport (including curling and rodeo). Was sports editor 150 years ago for the UT Daily Beacon. No favorite teams or drivers -- I cheer for my story lines, leads, and deadlines.
