Will Keane Ruptures his Cruciate Knee Ligament
What a bitter blow this is for the young lad. After bagging a shed load of goals for the reserves this past season,Will Keane will now sit out at least a large portion of the next season due to an injury he sustained during England U19's 1-0 victory over their Swiss counterparts. The same injury that Nemanja Vidic sustained in November
This will be more of a blow to Keane, as Sir Alex told ManUnited.com "He was in the first team for next season."
Now he will have a grueling season, where he will have to endure many months of rehab to battle back. Even when he does, there may be question marks as too if he could fulfill his potential. It is the one injury that footballers fear, because it is career threatening. Thankfully, he is at the right club, as our medical team, headed by Rob Swires, will give him the best possible guidance.
Lets all wish the promising striker a speedy recovery. Lets hope he bangs in the goals on his return
Ferguson sends video message to season ticket holders
"When you are buying your season ticket you are guaranteed:
1) A possible heart attack"
Good job Ferguson made it as a football manager, because he would have made a piss poor salesman!
Tomasz Kuszczak Departs
Nobody should be suprised with this news, as Manchester United have neglected to extend Tomasz Kuszczak's contract. The Pole In Goal (P.I.G) was initially signed on loan in 2006 from West Bromwich Albion, before we turned it permanent the following year. He played 61 games for the club in that period.
Brought in as a number two for Edwin Van Der Sar, he done his job during his time at the club. He recognised he was not going to be number one I think, and knew his place. When he did have to fill in, he was solid. What you need for a number two. I feel we are blessed at the moment as we have two very good keepers in David De Gea and Anders Lindegaard, along with Ben Amos, who signed a new three year deal this week. While being on the clubs books, last year he did not make a single appearance for the club, and I only remember one time when he was on the bench. That was when Ben Amos made his single Premier League appearance against Stoke when the number one and two was ruled out with injury. He spent a small period of time at Watford at the end of the season on loan.
The Busby Babe wishes Tomasz the bets of luck at his new club. (Provided he does not join Liverpool). P.I.G joins Micheal Owen, who was the other member of the first team to be released.
United head to China for Pre-Season
It was always thought that Manchester United would head to Aisa this pre-season. This is confirmation of that plan. Manchester United will play Shanghai Shenhua in the Chevrolet China Cup.
Manchester United edge closer to Shinji Kagawa
It seems as if it is only a matter of time now before Manchester United announce the signing of Shinji Kagawa. It has been widely reported that we are interested in him, and now that Eden Hazard has decided he wants to play under 4 different managers next season at Chelsea, surely Kagawa will become a Red Devil sooner rather than later.
The price will be a good one from our prospective. £7M is probably a little shy, but I think you can expect something in the region of £13M-£17M. However the chances are that when the move is confirmed, the clubs won't disclose the transfer fee. Rather, we will have to rely on various sources.
The more this "saga" has gone n, the more I like this. He is a versatile player. Seems to be a very decent finisher. Lots of pace. Hopefully he can ignite the kind of counter attacks that our play was missing at the back end of the season. I think he and Rooney will get on like a house on fire on the pitch.
With many outlets reporting that deal is ever so close to being made, here are some links, the first of which is Gene's excellent analysis from a few weeks ago

Manchester United the best supported club on the planet
From the official site, along with a nice propaganda video saying how we are meeting targets blah blah blah
Anyway, a survey has shown we are the best supported club in the world with a whopping 659 Million supporters.
Eden Hazard to join Chelsea
Well that is depressing! Manchester United target Eden Hazard has announced on twitter that he will join Chelsea. It has been reported that Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea were fighting tooth and nail to sign the wonderkid, but it is the European Champions that have won the battle.
It is not all doom and gloom, as United have some very good wingers on their books, so there was a question's as to if we really needed him. And his vast transfer fee and wages would have seriously dented our funds. Yet as he is, or will be, world class I feel that as he was available, it is still a bitter loss. For Chelsea, this is a seriously good move. They have not had a truly world class winger since Arjen Robben left them, and Hazard has the potential to be even better than the Dutch flyer.
Lets hope that United can re-group, and snap up the signing of Shinji Kagawa and a truly world class centre midfielder. Luka Modric or Javi Martinez would be golden if you are reading David Gill!

Whelan claims Fergie may retire next year after health scare!
Well this is interesting, and heart wrenching in equal measure ....
ESPN has a story with quotes from Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan, claiming that Sir Alex Ferguson has had a health scare within the last week or so, and that he is now considering retiring next year.
"After next season, Sir Alex will call it a day. The pressure is telling, especially when you are at the top for so long.
"The older you get the harder it is to cope with all that pressure, and eventually it will affect you. Sir Alex is resilient and I know he will want to carry on until he drops, and I respect what he has achieved as everyone does.
"I am sure his intention was to carry on for two or three, maybe even more years, but he has had a little scare in the last week or so and that tells me he will think very hard, and realise there is no point trying to carry on for another five years and take the risk."
Dave Whelan
Well, what do we make of this....
The two are close friends, so it is not as though the source is unnamed and unreliable. It does beg the question why Whelan has came out with these quotes. Is it his right to talk about Fergie's health in public, when Fergie himself hasn't spoke about it in the press?
As for the club, this would be a bitter blow. Things like this make me dread the day when Fergie is no longer our manager. He is the most important man at the club, and will be until he steps down. I fear that his replacement will not be capable. I fear we will no longer challenge for silverware on a regular basis.
Most important however, is the man himself. Lets hope that Whelan has somehow got his facts wrong, and Fergie is in fine form and good health. Healthy enough to manage this great club for another 20 years (We wish!)
Reds Rule over London
In a story over at the official site, Ryan Giggs reflects on how Manchester United performed against the London teams last season. Manchester United ventured into the capital five times in the league, dropping only two points in the fantastic game at newly crowned European Champions Chelsea. At Old Trafford, United did not drop a single point in the league against the London clubs. Giggsy highlights the 8-2 thrashing of Arsenal at home as particulary pleasurable.
"As a team performance you’ve got to look at the Arsenal game when you’re talking about highlights. To score eight goals against a team that has been one of our biggest rivals for so many years is something special. Our form in London – I think we won nearly every game there apart from Chelsea – was very pleasing
Source: ManUnited.com
The full list of results can be found on the link. The other noteable results from my veiwpoint were against the big teams. The visit to Spurs later on in the season should have been a massive result (It later paled into insignificance with our inability to see out a result against a certain Liverpudlian team). The win against Old Trafford at the start of the season was impressive too!
The article on the official site points out that London has not been a great location for United to travel in recent seasons. We havn't won at Stamford Bridge in the league since before the Mourinho years for instance. So for United to only drop two points against London clubs was a nice change to the trend that has developed.
United will also have one more London club to face next season, as none were relegated and West Ham United returned after their playoff win against Blackpool on Saturday. Lets hope we have another productive season next year in the capital, with a trip or two to Wembeley to boot. (Or three, isn't the Champions League final being played there again next season?)
Four clubs in for Hazard: Sky sources say Eden wants United move
This link suggests that four clubs are in for the wonderkid. Chelsea have joined the race along with an unnamed club. However Sky Sports News (The channel) have said that Sky sources believes the player wants a move to United!
Oh how they tease us.....
The Busby Babe awards: Vote for your Most Improved Manchester United Player of the Year
The final Bubsy Babe award is "Most Improved" player of the year. I have whittled it down to four candidates for you to choose from.
Jonny Evans - After an abysmal year last season, where he was forever getting bullied in the air, leading him to drop behind new arrival Chris Smalling in the pecking order, the Northern Irishman bounced back with a big bang. WIth Vidic out injured for most of the season, Evans stepped up to the plate and performed remarkably. It has been said before on many a time on this site. Let me say it again. He was our finest defender this season. Able to turn his weaknesses into strengths. Strong in the air, hard in the tackle and he reads the game so well. Also started to ignite many attack with some good surging runs come the end of the season. He featured in 39 games this season. Scored one and layed on three more.
Lille to talk to both Manchester clubs next week over sale of Eden Hazard
Lille are yet to complete their league season. But when they do at the weekend, they will then sound out the two Manchester clubs that want their star player Eden Hazard. Both teams have made contact, yet no official bids have been made. While interest has been high all over Europe's top leagues, Manchester City and Manchester United remain the only two suiters that have a realistic chance of signing the Belgian sensation, according to BBC Sport
It seems as though Lille want to start a bidding war over the young star, who has 17 goals and 16 assists this season, and that will obviously favour Manchester CIty. Yet everybody knows what we as a club can offer. The chance to play at Old Trafford week in week out, for a fantastic club with an unmatched history. He will be given the chance to grow as a player, given the chance to realize his massive potential, instead of just being another star in a squad full of ego's at City. The chance to play under one of the best managers in history
Maybe, just maybe, Sir Alex and David Gill can turn Eden Hazard's head away from the promise of riches in the blue half of Manchester.
For further reading check out TBB's scouting report of Eden Hazard. This will give you a realistic idea if how he may fit in, if Hazard chooses the path of the light, instead of the road to evil....
Michael Carrick ruled himself out of the Euro's
Roy Hodgson and the FA have confirmed that Michael Carrick had ruled himself out of the England squad. Roy Hodgson stated that the Manchester United man did not want to go as a backup at this stage of his career. Forever under rated, The Frank Lampard's and Steven Gerrard's of this world have always been prefered, despite their continual failure at international tournaments while Carrick rots on the bench.
"We were advised a few months ago that because of where he was in his career, that he wanted to step back from being called up and sitting on the subs bench. He will help in extreme situations,"
Adrian Bevington - FA
"I wouldn't dream of putting Michael Carrick on a standby list after he's made it clear in the past he doesn't want to be involved like that. I'd have to be convinced he was better than the four [central midfielders] I've selected, and that he'd be happy to come out of retirement."
Roy Hodgson
What could be England's misfortune, will most certainly be Manchester United's gain. Carrick has played a key role, not missing a Premier League game since before Christmas. He is so quietly efficient, and his partnership with Paul Scholes was fantastic in the first three or four months of 2012. This means he will be rested and will not have to suffer the dissappointment of another failure with the England side.
Go get em next season Carrick
Young Red Devils join Leicester City
Matty James and Ritchie Da Laet have joined Leicester City on three year deals. James, a midfielder has recently returned from a long term injury. Da Laet, joined form Stoke a couple of years back never really had a chance in the first team, but on the occaision that he did, he impressed me. Still, good moves for all party's involved.
Michael Owen Departs Old Trafford
It is three and out for former England striker Micheal Owen, as the injury plagued poacher will leave after not being offered a new contract. Sir Alex Ferguson informed him of the clubs decision after Harry Gregg's testimonial match on Tuesday, where a United team defeated a The League of Ireland's all star 11. Here is what Owen had to say.
"The Manager informed me after our testimonial match on Tuesday that the club would not be offering me a new contract. I have loved every minute of the three years I have spent at such a fantastic club. I would like to thank the players, staff and fans for their support and wish them well for the future.I now plan to have a short holiday during which I will contemplate my next move."
Source - Manchester United official
The gaffer added his thoughts about his departing striker
"It is a pleasure to have had Michael at Manchester United. Michael is a consummate professional and was an influential figure in our dressing room. Unfortunately he had no luck with his injury this season. Michael’s record of goals per game is exceptional and we wish him all the best for the future."

Roy Hodgson names England Squad: No Rio Ferdinand!
Roy Hodgson has named his England squad and the big news is that Rio Ferdinand is out but John Terry has made it. Here is the squad in full.
Goalkeepers - Joe Hart, Rob Green, John Ruddy
Defenders - Jolean Lescott, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Leighton Baines, Ashley Cole, Phil Jones, Glen Johnson
Midfielders - Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry, Ashley Young, James Milner, Scott Parker
Strikers - Jermaine Defoe, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Andy Carroll
There is also a list of 5 standby players
Adam johnson, Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge, Phil Jagielka, Jack Butland (GK)
Manchester United players included
Defender - Phil Jones
Midfielder - Ashley Young
Strikers - Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck
Paul Scholes to prolong his playing career
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Paul Scholes will continue his playing career into next season. The Manchester United legend made a comeback in January, mere minutes before the two Manchester clubs took to the field before their 3rd round FA Cup clash. Ever since, he has wowed supporters with brilliant displays of passing, regularly topping 90% in pass completion.
This no doubt will be a boost for the club. A day after United conceded the title to their neighbours, one of the most decorated players ever to have come out of England will help try and reclaim the title. It has been noted that United will delve into the market, but the names that have been linked (Gaitan, Hazard, Kagawa) are nowhere near in the mould of Paul Scholes and what he brings to the table, despite his advancing years.
I am very happy with this news. Sure, he isn't the answer for the long term. But after the amount of masterful performances that the Ginger Ninja has put in from his deep lying play maker role, he most definitely will have a part to play. He will have to be used sparingly, yet when he will be used, you can bet your bottom dollar he will deliver the goods.
Here's hoping we see more pinpoint cross field passes placed on a dime, a 30 yard pile driver and maybe even a rash challenge or two.
Here's to you. Paul Scholes!
Post Match Reaction: Sunderland 0 - 1 Manchester United
Broken hearted. Anger. Happiness. Joy. Laughter. And more Broken hearts.
Just some of the feelings I felt over the last 90 minutes of football to be played in the Premier League this season. Manchester United done their job against Sunderland thanks to a first half goal from Wayne Rooney. However the real drama came in Manchester as Manchester City somehow stole a win with two goals deep into injury time.
QPR were almost heroic with their efforts today. Their Captain sent off due to a stupid off the ball foul. They went ahead 2-1 soon after and hung on until past the 90 minute mark. Manchester City are Premier League champuons for the first time.
This is all I have got right now. I am far too mentally drained. Vent your anger and sadness in here. Tell us what your poison will be to drown your sorrows. Do tell what would be a suitable punishment for one Joey Barton....
Manchester United set to be questioned by police over Bebe transfer
Portugese police are set to question Manchester United regarding the transfer of Bebe in August 2010, according to a report from BBC Sport. Super agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Cristiano Ronaldo, appears to have gained, with his company claiming £3M of the transfer fee which was in excess of £7M.
The review of the Bebe deal is part of a wider police probe into the finances of Guimaraes, who announced profits of £16.5m last year.
United have not been contacted by investigators at this stage and a spokesman stressed that "nobody is suggesting that we have done anything wrong".
BBC Sport
Im no expert on these kind of things, but it looks as though that the club has done nothing wrong, and are only going to be questioned to gather information in this particular case.
Bebe himself, who has spent the season on loan at Beskitas (He tore his ACL early on so has hardly played), has made no positive impact at Manchester United and I expect him to be offloaded in the summer. What a waste of £7M
PLAYER RATINGS: Manchester United 2 - 0 Swansea City
With the title all but conceded after Manchester CIty beat Newcastle United 2-0, Manchester United needed goals against Swansea City. However they only managed two. Lets all hope QPR pull off a massive upset next week. In the meantime, indulge yourself in these ratings for the Swansea game.
A score of 1 being the lowest (Fernando Torres standard.... Oh wait, what has the world come too, I can't even use Torres for a guidline of 1 - standard), 10 being the highest (Messi like) A score of 6 will be standard, 7 is solid, a very good game will get an 8, 9 is good for outstanding and 10 is unplayable. 10's will be very rare. Not only will they have to play the game of their life, but it will usually come against a team of good quality or in a big match (Finals, championship deciding game's etc.)
David De Gea - Done what he had too. A little shaky on a shot from Gylfi Sigurdsson in the second half, where the ball bounced awkwardly. Not tested with any high balls into the box, and distributed the ball nicely.6.5/10
Phil Jones - Decent game. Got forward well and done his job on defense. Very able with short passing, but he really needs to work on his crossing which at times can be woeful. 6.5/10
Chris Smalling - The only thing he has done wrong in 180 minutes of football was not mark his man well at a corner. Very good game. Reads the game well and can command his area. 7.5/10
Rio Ferdinand - Distributed the ball very well and pressed high up the pitch when we needed goals. Would like to see him do more of that actually. He usually is the deepest defender when we have possession so the midfield and wide defenders have an outlet. Would prefer him to just step up just a tad more and use his fantastic talent on the ball. 7/10
Patrice Evra - Still gets skinned too often one on one. Yet he and Young links up very well down the left. Evra's ability going forward has never been in doubt, even when his defensive qualities have been lacking this season. 7/10
POST MATCH REACTION: Manchester United 2 - 0 Swansea City
It is not often that you come away from a victory with an empty feeling inside of you. However that is what every United fan feels like. With Manchester City beating Newcastle by two goals to nil earlier in the day courtesy of a brace from Yaya Toure, Manchester United needed a minor miracle to stop the Premier League trophy heading across the city. Either a humongous goal swing or QPR holding City at the Ethiad next week. Lets be honest, the chances of that is very very slim.
Goals from Paul Scholes and Ashley Young meant United stay level on points with their neighbours, but if we had burried all of our chances, maybe the goal difference would have been a lot slimmer. Because believe it or not, we could have won this game by a big margin. Seven or eight. However poor finishing cost us today. Chief suspect being Chicarito, who hasn't performed anywhere near his best this season. Rooney too was guilty in the second half. His touch and build up play was alot better than it has been in recent games, yet he squandered a very easy chance by his standards in the second half as he pulled his shot wide.
United started brightly, pressing Swansea high up the pitch, who missed Leon Britton in the first half. And the goal came just before the half hour. Antonio Valencia beat his man on the right, teed up Micheal Carrick who shot goal wards. Paul Scholes flicked the ball home with his heel. He did not celebrate. Rightfully so, because lets be honest, unless City screw up in a big way, the goal hardly matters.
Player of the Month: April Edition
Manchester United endured mixed fortunes in the month of April. A win at Blakburn Rovers and two home victories at home to Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers helped our title charge. But a draw at home to Everton and losses at Wigan Athletic and Manchester City seemd to have derailed it.
This led to some very good individual performances that may have been forgotton amid the dissapointments. So let me try and rejog your memory and celebrate those players that did themselves proud in the month of April
Wayne Rooney - Has not been at his best, yet has continued to score a lot of goals. Five of them in six games. So despite his poor touch that he has been showing, the fact that he did not shy away and still bagged what matters most impressed me.
Ashley Young - Recieved a lot of flack for winning two penalties against QPR and Villa. Scored once but put in some very decent displays
Danny Welbeck - His performances against Villa and Everton alone means he is a must for this list. The goal he scored against Everton was stunning. His fantastic partnership with Rooney was on show for the world to see that day too, as Rooney's second goal brough back memories of Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole.
Antonio Valencia - The way he ripped through Blackburn to score the opener was wonderful. A really rip roaring goal. Maybe not quite as good as previous months, yet he is so consistant with his service from wide right. Should count himself as a little unfortunate to be dropped for the derby.
Paul Scholes - Put in a couple of really great displays against QPR (A game he scored in) and Villa. The latter of which came after he was dropped for the Wigan loss where we dearly missed him.
There you go. Who do you think deserves the nod? More importantly, who do you believe I have missed out, if any?
PLAYER RATINGS: Manchester City 1 - 0 Manchester United
Really do not want to do this. Doubt very much anyone wants to read it either. But if you really want to punish yourself, here are the ratings for Monday nights loss to City
David De Gea - A little tentative with crosses and corners. Nothing he could do with the goal. The only other save he had to make was from Clichy, which he dealt with well. 5.5/10
Phil Jones - Played some woeful crosses, but I thought he defended well. Made a very decent clearance from an early cross that stands out. 6.5/10
Chris Smalling - I thought he was magnificent, save from what proved to be the one mistake that proved crucial. And in a match of this magnitude, that crucial mistake may have cost us the title. 6/10
Rio Ferdinand - Gave the ball away a couple of times on halfway which led to some nervous moments as City drove forward. Other than that, defended solidly. 6.5/10
Patrice Evra - Certainly had no help from Giggs, as the majority of City's attack's came from the left. Got skinned one on one once or twice, but no real drama. 6/10
POST MATCH REACTION: Manchester City 1 - 0 Manchester United
First off, you have to offer congratulations to City. They dominated the match, so much that we did not even have a shot on target.
Sir Alex Ferguson certainly raised eyebrows with his selections. He clearly went with experience instead of Ashley Young and Danny Welbeck. Ryan Giggs and Ji Sung Park, along with Nani on the right were chosen over Antonio Valencia. 4-5-1 it was
The opening 10 minutes were promising yet yielded nothing. And after that, City took over. But Manchester United's defense stood firm. City were able to get the ball out wide, yet their small attackers could do nothing with the lofted balls played in.
Yet Vincent Kompany most definitely could. The corner was played in at the stroke of half time, Chris Smalling, who otherwise had a very solid game, lost his man and Kompany gave David De Gea no chance. Probably the worst time the goal could have been scored.
Transfer Rumors: Have Manchester United made their move for Shinji Kagawa?
Lots of rumours floating about today about Borussia Dortmund's Japanese star Shinji Kagawa. German media outlet Bild report that Dortmund have given the attacking midfielder a deadline (Monday) to sign a new deal with the club. His contract is up next summer, which means he might well move this summer in a cut price deal. Here are some quotes from the newly crowned Bundesliga Champions president, Reinhard Rauball.
"The fact is that he has had an offer put in front of him long ago, which raises a few doubts because up until now he hasn't reacted,"
It is a good offer. He won't be getting peanuts at Dortmund.
"There still hasn't been contact from another club. As far as I am concerned, nothing has been decided, although I now have a slight tendency towards scepticism."
Talksport claim Manchester United are set to offer the player a three year deal. There is no doubt that United need reinforcements during the summer, especially in midfield. United certainly lack a creative spark that can ignite an attack through the centre, so these rumours certainly interest me. If these rumours persist and gather more steam, you can look forward to a scouting report from Gene on Kagawa.
Liverpool or Manchester City? Who are Manchester United's main rivals?
"We have to get used to playing City in important games. The financial support they have means we'll meet them in a lot of big games. Therefore, if we're going to be contesting with them for the league title it will become almost as important as the Liverpool derbies. In fact, this supercedes Liverpool at the moment because they're our direct opponents. We have to focus on the team who can affect our progress in terms of winning the league.
Rewind to the end of the 07/08 season. Manchester United had just edged past Chelsea on penalties to lift the Champions League trophy. We had superstars such as Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez spear heading our attack on way to our 2nd Premier League title in a row, which would be followed by a 3rd a year later. Many casual observers of football would be forgiven for thinking that their was only one team in Manchester.
Manchester City however did exist before they were taken over by super duper rich Sheikh Mansour. He vowed to make Manchester City the biggest club in England. A huge task considering they were a mid table team at the very best. However, climbed the table they have, and now they are three wins away form claiming their first Premier League title, after signing some of the biggest names in football.
Each year the Manchester derby has taken on more importance. Who can forget the brilliant 4-3 win at Old Trafford at the spring of the 09/10 season. Micheal Owen scored the winner in injury Fergie time to mark his first Manchester United goal. And last season, Wayne Rooney lit up the famous ground with his overhead kick to nick a 2-1 win. But not before City had beat us on the way to the FA Cup. And who can forget our first league meeting of this season. As much as I would like to, the feelings I felt as we succumbed to a 6-1 loss on our own patch will live with me forever. Our own FA cup win in the 3rd round did little for revenge. Only a favourable result this coming Monday, will mean revenge in my eyes. They may have won the first battle, but we would have won the war.
But has this now become our biggest derby. Has this now eclipsed the importance of the games against Liverpool?

What is Squeaky Bum Time?
As one of the biggest Premier League games is approaching fast, it is time to start looking at certain factors that will affect the match. Whilst others will delve into the line ups, formations and tactics, I will take a look at the most important factor of all. One that can't be quantified. One that is hard to explain. One that was brilliantly brought to the public attention by Sir Alex Ferguson Back in 2003.
"They [Arsenal] have a replay against Chelsea and if they win it they would face a semi-final three days before playing us in the league. But then they did say they were going to win the Treble, didn't they? It's squeaky bum time and we've got the experience now to cope."
So. What the hell does it actually mean? The English Oxford dictionary had it as follows....
"The tense final stages of a league competition, especially from the point of view of the leaders"
PLAYER RATINGS: Manchester United 4 - 4 Everton
What must have been a fantastic match for the neutral, was a horror show for any Manchester United fan. The way we let our two goal lead slip was pathetic. The defending was atrocious. Do not expect the majority of these to be pretty.
A score of 1 being the lowest (Liam Miller standard), 10 being the highest (Messi like) A score of 6 will be standard, 7 is solid, a very good game will get an 8, 9 is good for outstanding and 10 is unplayable. 10's will be very rare. Not only will they have to play the game of their life, but it will usually come against a team of good quality or in a big match (Finals, championship deciding game's etc.)
David De Gea - Let in four goals, but really couldn't do alot about them. Maybe could have stopped Felliani's volley. But that would have been outstanding. Flapped at corner early on though. 5.5/10
Rafael - No. Not what we needed. DIdn't get tight to his man on the first goal. Jelavic peeled off him. If he had jumped with him, I doubt the header is able to be scored. The fourth goal was terrible. Let Felliani bully him and turn him to tee up Steven Pienaar. Can't afford to allow attackers that much room, especially in our own box. 1.5/10
Jonny Evans - Looked a shadow of form this season. Jelavic's clever movement caused him problems and Felliani's ariel ability seemed to get the better of him. Did make some decent blocks. He is willing to put his body on the line and I do like that. However he and Rio climbed for the same ball for the 3rd. A lack of communication? A lack of.... Well, just lacking 3.5/10
Rio Ferdinand - He is the man in the back four. He is the man that should be the boss. He should be organising. But there was everything but organisation in the defense today. Almost grabbed a stunning equaliser, but Tim Howard would have been dismayed had he let in the left footed strike. 4/10
Patrice Evra - It is games like these when we need an inspiring captain. Do you feel Keane would have let this happen. Or our currant skipper, the injured Nemanja Vidic? Patrice Evra was not the figure we needed him to be. Outshone his other fullback, but a black hole would have been brighter than Rafael today 5/10
POST MATCH REACTION: Manchester United 4 - 4 Everton
Yep. You read that title right. Four goals apiece.
You would think that after a game like that, I would know what to say. Wrong. Manchester United were 3-1 up, and then 4-2 up. And we went to sleep both times thinking the game was won. It should have been. But it wasn't. Lets give credit to Everton, because after last weeks cup disappointment, who would have thought they would have had that fighting spirit in them.
Im at a loss. With proven winners in this team, we managed to throw that one away. Players like Rio Ferdinand. Paul Scholes. Micheal Carrick. Patrice Evra. Wayne Rooney. These players should have the experience to close a game like that out. Youth players may be forgiven for being so naive. Not players of Manchester United. Title number 20 hangs on results like this. Have we just chucked away all the hard work we have done from January onwards.
Anyway. Everton went ahead early on. The good movement of Jelavic had already caused us problems, and he peeled of Rafael to head home a Tony Hibbert cross. The angle was tight and there was no way he could have scored. Wrong again. The header and just the right amount of loft to give David De Gea no chance.
