"When your team has been clearly out of the playoff race since the All Star Break you tend to find things to do at games to entertain yourself. Welcome to Section 149 in the RF Bleachers."
"I think I've had 12, maybe 13 two-goal games, and it always sits in the back of your mind. But it feels good to get the first one," Setoguchi said of the accomplishment that came in his 246th NHL game.

X-Sharks prospect Matt Jones waived by Thunder
Jones, 24, suited up for the Thunder in one game during the regular season on Oct. 15 vs. Ontario. He was originally signed by Stockton as a free agent on Sept. 21, 2010.
SJS player info
History: Jones went undrafted, signed a pro-contract with the Sharks in 3/08 and opted to forego his final two years of college eligibility at Merrimack. 6/10, he was not qualified by SJS and therefore became an FA on 7/1/10.

Good luck Matt

Guardians to be revealed at All*Star game
"On Jan. 30th, 2011, at the NHL All-Star Game, we are going to unveil 30 of the most incredible superheroes the world has ever seen, with an incredible live-event show that everyone should tune in for," he said.
Added Lee: "I just have a feeling that 'The Guardians' are going to be the next big thing in entertainment."

This news is slightly dated, but I wanted to get Sharkscentric views on the pros/cons of Lee creating comic book characters that represent all 30 NHL teams, aka 'The Guardians'. Personally, I find it incredibly awesome. Lee is nearly 90 and still young at heart. I highly anticipate the end result and hope it proves to be a success.
Cheechoo headed to Worcester
"He’s a good guy — a real quality person," Sommer said. "This is something that has two positives. He gets a second chance, and our younger guys get to be around someone who’s been a 50-goal guy in the NHL."
SJS goalie Tyson Sexsmith assigned to Stockton
Sexsmith, selected by San Jose in the third round (91st overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and a Memorial Cup champion goaltender with the Vancouver Giants in 2006-07, is the first contracted goaltender to join the Thunder roster.

Thunder sign free agent RW Matt Jones
Originally signed by the Sharks as a free agent on Mar. 28, 2008, Jones has skated in 102 career games as a professional in the ECHL with Kalamazoo and Phoenix and in the AHL with Worcester, scoring 44 points (24g-20a) and collecting 59 penalty minutes....
Jones joins the Thunder as the second player to have previously played in the Sharks organization under an NHL contract, joining center and captain Craig Valette.

WHY IS IT SO HOT!? I'm ready for some hockey, just so I can sit near the ice.
The informal skates with the players at Sharks Ice are starting to look more and more like an assembly of NHLers as additional Sharks have made their way to the Bay Area.
For a couple of participants, it made for an introductory session as both Antero Niittymaki and Jamal Mayers have found their way to San Jose. Counting the two newbies, there are more than Sharks 10 regulars already in town.

Tikhonov returns, trade interest
Coyotes prospect Viktor Tikhonov (RFA next year) will return to the NHL this season. He did, however, ask for a trade....15 teams are interested. -Dmitry Chesnokov, Twitter
Reports out of Phoenix state Viktor is looking forward to rejoining the Yotes - however, he did inquire about trade possibilities given the number of teams interested.
And as a general FYI: Viktor grew up in Los Gatos before moving to Kentucky in '94 while his father Vasily worked as the goalie coach for the Sharks AHL affiliate Kentucky Thoroughblades. Viktor also spends a lot of time in the area during the off-season (like Nolan and Korolyuk)
I'd love for the Sharks to be one of the teams hoping to make a deal.
Thunder now official 'AA' affiliate of Oilers AND Sharks
The Stockton Thunder, Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks are scheduled to host a news conference on MONDAY, AUGUST 2, 2010 AT 11:00am PT to make a significant hockey announcement at Stockton Arena.
The news conference is open to the media and public.
