Broncos want first rounder for Mashall
With all the talk of Seattle offering less than a first rounder in a trade for Marshall, Michael Lombardi gives us comfort by saying it's a first rounder or bust.
MHR Season MVP and Awards
Alright folks, there's been a lot of arguments lately, people too positive, people too negative, you're a troll, you're a kool-aidacholic. I figured why not write a post that forces people to be both positive and negative. I'm sure there will be arguments but this is for fun. LET'S HAVE SOME FUN PEOPLE.

Who do you hate?
Alright so seeing as it's Chargers week again, I figured there's no better time than now to talk about teams we hate. I'll be honest, I know we're supposed to hate divisional rivals and I do, but I really can't say I hate the Raiders. They're a joke. My mother always told me "it's not nice to pick on people less fortunate than you" and I can't think of anyone less fortunate than Raiders fans. And besides how can you hate someone that provides you with hours of comedic relief.
I personally hate the Steelers the most. I hate the way they play, I hate their uniforms, I can't stand Jerome Bettis and how he'd fall forward for a 3 yard gain and the commentators would gush over how he's so great. I just flat our hate the Steelers. What about you guys? Who do you hate and why? Let's talk some smack but keep it clean. Let's have a laugh we could all use one at this point.
Gentleman (and ladies) start your hatin'

Broncos vs Cowboys Highlights
Alright my Orange and Blue friends, if you didn't catch my last post, I directed you to milehighfootball on Youtube where you can catch extended Broncos highlights of the previous games. Again for those of you who didn't see the post, this guy does a killer job making these and I get pretty pumped everytime I see them, so I think they're must see stuff for us here at MHR. Anyways here's the link for this week, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmXDIMOcVWM
Enjoy.
In need of highlights????
I was bored and in need of some highlights of the Broncos vs Browns game last week. But not just any highlights. I often find the ones on NFL network and the Broncos website too short. I wanted more. So I scoured Youtube and found this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkMxNbG1w98.....(these are the Oakland highlights by the way. But the point is if you're like me and you want extended highlights, subscribe to this dude on Youtube. He's done the 3 games so far this year and he does a great job. I sent this to SinDoner and he used it to make that GIF of Dawkins. People who followed the link seemed to like it so I thought I'd pass it on to the rest of you. Enjoy.

Dawkins and "The Presser"
2 posts in two days for me....I must be excited about this team...
For those of you who were luck enough to see today's pressers from Orton Dawkins and McD, you had to be impressed. For those of you who weren't so lucky, make sure you check those out later.
I want to talk specifically about Dawkins. I've been nothing short of amazed ever since we signed this guy. Watching him play every Sunday is a privilege and we as Bronco fans should enjoy it while we can and feel lucky to have this guy. His presser today has to be the single most impressive presser I've ever seen. One exchange with a reporter in particular struck me. The reporter asked him if as a defense they feel like they're there yet. He replied there where? We've played 3 games. I'm paraphasing of course but he goes on to say they're not hanging thier hat on anything because there's still a lot of improving to do and as a unit they're far from satisfied. He goes on to praise the secondary especially Hill. He also gives us a little insight into how they all interact with eachother. These are guys that are playing for eachother. There are no individuals on this unit. They play for the guy next to them and they play to win. Dawkins is a ferocious man with a passion to play and win. If you happen to be in the same locker room as this guy, is there any possibility you're not going to give 100% effort. You can tell during this presser that he is really enjoying himself and that these guys are a proud and hungry defense.
McD also said a few impressive things. One, that it's his players that give him confidence and two, when asked if he's worried about injuries he responded he's never worried. This is a guy that knows himself and is comfortable with himself and his team. With him and Dawkins around, as a fan I'm confident that win or lose we will never show a lack of effort and we will always be prepared. These are two guys that are demanding accountabilty and it seems have the complete respect of the team as a whole. If you guys saw or get to see these pressers let me know your thoughts. Were you as impressed as I was?
Thoughts on Broncos vs Cowboys
I have to be honest, this game worries me quite a bit. We have yet to play a team as talented as the Cowboys. If they click on all cylinders then I'm worried. However they have not displayed an ability to put it all together thus far. I understand people saying they are overrated but I am of the opinion that talent wise they are amongst the leagues best and their coaching is what is holding them back.
Their running attack is formidable. They routinely open gaping holes in the defensive fronts of opponents and the combination of Barber and Jones is among the best in the league (if healthy). Fortunately for the Broncos, the playcalling for Dallas has been suspect and it usually is. If I were Dallas I would be running the ball down peoples throats all game and using timely play action to achieve huge gains. However they tend to drift from the running game and continue to air the ball out.
Our coaching advantage has to be on display this week. That is where we will win this game. We must play mistake free again, no turnovers, few penalties, no special teams mistakes. The odds of us not turning the ball over are diminishing. One thing I do fear is that it's only a matter of time before we have "one of those games". Everybody has one and hopefully ours isn't this week.
One point to consider is that as the weeks go on, we lose our surprise element. By that I mean teams will have much more game tape to study to break down our scheme and tendencies. That could be worrying but and something worth looking out for. That being said I have this sneaking suspicion that McD hasn't shown us anything yet. I think he's withheld a lot of what he wants to do so far. I don't believe he's shown his full hand yet, and as the weeks progress we'll see more and more.
We must avoid the shootout. Our D has yet to play an offense like this. Cincy is a good team and their offense is dangerous and our D shut them down. But I'm unsure of how well the Cincy O was executing being the first game of the season. If our D is unable to stop Dallas consistently and we are forced into a shootout, the chances of us winning is unlikely.
On offense we must exploit the seams. I've noticed thus far that you can pass the ball on Dallas between the safeties. We have too many weapons on offense for them to cover at the same time. Clady will nullify Ware. Their pass rush leaves them exploitable on the edges. McD will gameplan to exploit these weaknesses.
My confidence in this game stems from our coaching. McD and Nolan have displayed an ability to exploit weakness and play to our strengths. I have no doubt we will be prepared with a gameplan that will allow us to win if executed. But the players are the ones on the field and this game more than any other we've played to date will rely heavily on that execution. We have little room for error this week.
I have no stats and nothing to back up this article other than what I've watched thus far in the season and my gut feelings and they remain my opinion. Can we win this game? Heck yeah we can! But so can Dallas, and that's more than I could have said about Cleveland and Oakland. I had no questions about winning those games.
I don't care about what people say about who we've played. We're 3-0 and we've looked pretty darn good in those games. We've done what we've needed to do thus far and there should be no apologizing for that. What are your thoughts? What do the Broncos need to do to win this game? Predictions anyone?
Alphonso Smith...Denver's top rookie?
As I made my daily rounds, I came across a story on Espn here. It refers to an article on whatifsports.com where the topic revolvs around 2009 impact rookies. I'm not sure what to make of it but it has Alphonso Smith ranked #11 (Denver's top performer) for 2009. Looking at their past predictions they've been fairly accurate at predicting these kinds of things. If you have time you should definitely take a look at it here. If they're right, those questions about the trade should dissappear. What do you guys think about it?
An alternate viewpoint on "THE TRADE"
The way I'm looking at it is probably different than most people are. Agree or not I believe it's a legitimate viewpoint.
Everybody knows the scenario, we traded a 2010 first round pick for the 37th pick in 2009. The way I'm looking at and the way I believe McD is looking at it is this. After the trade we essentially had 3 first rounders this year and 1 next year. I say 3 first rounders this year because McD is on record as saying they had Smith as their top DB and see him as first round talent. So they didn’t trade a first next year for a second this year, they basically drafted Smith as their third first round pick. This fundamentally changes the debate. It goes from "How could we trade a first rounder for a second rounder?" To "How could we draft Alphonso Smith with a first round pick?" If you look at it like that, the debate isn’t about the trade but whether or not Smith is a first round talent. We may not think so, McD does. Some experts love Smith others don't. Somebody will turn out to be right. If Smiths great…no harm done, if he bombs…waste of a first round pick.

It's time to rally behind our team
My fellow Bronco fans. I was here with you all weekend, enjoying the work of our esteemed administrators here on MHR when I began to notice something that bothered me. During the draft, flipping between ESPN and NFLNT, our Broncos were under constant attack.
BShrout posted a quote by Sam Wyche here that struck me as interesting. Particularly the part where he said:
"The new leadership in Denver has invited cynicism and now they have to prove that the new way is the right way."
I realized something after reading this. The way McD has gone about reshaping our team has put a target squarely on McD’s back. The MSM already hates the Cutler move, and now the talking heads have panned our draft and are bewildered by the strategy. (Except for a few astute observers) When things started to turn, I found myself being resistant as well. But after looking at the situation thouroughly I've decided to carry the POV that things are going to be fine. Obviously not everybody will see things the same way but what I ask of you is to give things a chance before we execute our coach. There are those that constantly disagree no matter what evidence is presented to them and no matter the lack of evidence they present their casses with.
This got me thinking about the general human condition. Why are people being so negative when we haven't even hit the field yet? Whenever something happens that changes the status quo there will always be those that refuse to accept it. He came into a situation that mirrors that of any QB we’ve had since Elway. It’s almost impossible to follow what Shanny did and there will be those who always hold the fact that he’s not Shanny against him. He will be challenged at every step. McD isn’t just another face, he’s a complete change. System, personality, ideology etc. He represents a generational change. The true end to an era. Kudos to him for having the stones to shake things up. I hope to God it works out. If he just came in here and let us continue on our mediocre path and didn’t really change anything he could have spared himself some criticism but he stayed true to what he believes and did things his way. I hope he’s successful because he deserves a legitimate shot.
Like it or not McD will have to battle the Cutler situation until he wins, or gets fired. I have listened to many posts and I have some cautious optimism that we will be fine, but we are alone on this. The MSM will constantly be circling waiting to pounce on every misstep. I've decided to defend my team. Maybe it's just me but I'm tired of getting bashed in the media. If they're not going to believe in us...It's time we do.

Trade Up for Arron Curry?
Cheifs host Maualuga Thursday, Could trade down
In what can only be considered a move before the Kansas City Chiefs trade down in the NFL Draft, the team will host USC linebacker Ray Maualuga Thursday, according to Profootballtalk.com. The report quoted a an unnamed league source.
Maualuga is regarded as one of the top prospects at inside linebacker, but it would be a major surprise if he were a top five (or even a top ten) selection.
Maualuga's other visits include trips to see the Browns, Dolphins, Chargers, Titans, Falcons, Saints, 49ers, and Rams.

So the question is do we trade up for Arron Curry? I happen to believe he might be one of the only can't miss prospects in this years draft. What do we give up? Is it worth it? Will he command too much money? Your thoughts....
