Tomahawk Nation 2010 Season Predictions: Basketball Edition

There seems to be a lot of conflicting opinions about the quality and potential of the 2009-10 Seminole men's basketball team. They currently have posted a record of 14-4 overall and are 2-2 in conference play. The Seminoles took care of business for the most part during non-conference play, winning the Old Spice Classic Tournament and easily dispatching most of the lower tier teams they played. They did have two disappointing non-conference losses against Florida and Ohio State, where the team looked outmatched and struggled with shooting and turnovers. The team started conference play on a high note with an overtime win against Georgia Tech on the road. That was followed up with two frustrating losses to Maryland and NC State where the Noles could not find an answer to hot three point shooting. A win at home against Virginia Tech stopped the hemorrhaging and the conference is currently a free-for-all. With the parity thus far, the conference title is still up for the taking.

Florida State's Chris Singleton drives to the basket during the second half of an NCAA college basketball game against North Carolina State, Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, in Tallahassee, Fla. North Carolina State won 88-81.

There are still many unanswered questions about the 2009-10 Seminoles. The team has a week between games before facing Georgia Tech at home on Saturday and it provides us an opportunity to look ahead and gauge our expectations. Does this year's team have what it takes to survive the grind of ACC Conference play? Can it improve upon, or even match last year's performance? Will this team make the NCAA tournament, and if so at what seeding will they get? This is your chance to go on record.

Tomahawk Nation AC says Goodman's charges will likely be dropped.

Andrew Carter posted a story stating that he spoke with Goodman's attorney about the charges. There are several things I find interesting about his piece.

Tomahawk Nation Kool-Aid Drinker's Guide to the 2009 Defense

 Kool-aid-man_medium

Let's face it, Mickey Andrews did not retire and he is not suddenly going to have a defensive strategy revelation between now and August. Actually, at this point, either one of those situations would hurt our team.

I have decided that's is time to start drinking the Kool-Aid. When the season is over, it will be time to start drooling over potential defensive coordinator and linebacker's coach candidates, but until then I will pulling full-on for our current coaches. We are all aware of the inherent weaknesses in our defensive scheme. While most of us will admit it is not ideal, it does have strengths and we will win some games as a result of it. So get out your frosted mug and pour yourself a half-full glass of that sugary sweet ignorance. We are going to take at the reasons we can expect a better defense in 2009.

Tomahawk Nation Please keep human trash off college football teams! (U. North Carolina)

I understand that a lot of times these kids come from difficult situations, but having sex with a 14-year old while your brother and a friend rob her house is not a lapse in judgement. It is a complete lack of moral character.

Per Andrew Carter. Appearantly we will appeal the appeal. Makes sense??? Surrency could be eligible for Social Security before this is resolved, doesn't look good though.

I t wait to see what he can do once he has a few years to develop players and has options of who to play.

Tomahawk Nation Watson Promises Not To Leave Early

Watson filed his NFL Draft paperwork, but then said this-

“I’m going to be back,” Watson said. “I still want to be a part of this team, be part of something special.”

Asked if that was a guarantee, Watson replied: “A guarantee. No problem.

“I feel like I lose a lot of money if I leave right now.”

Watson said he needs another year to give the NFL scouts more film to watch.

This is very good news.

DRaysBay Posey plays all nine positions, hits grand slam

This is pretty high praise!

Talk about a super utility player. Facing two batters and getting two K's is pretty good for a catcher. Granted they were playing Savannah State. It is a pretty neat accomplishment considering the players that have come out of FSU. J.D and Stephen Drew are a couple recent examples.
