Chicago-20110818-00057

A few months ago I introduced Dubley the teddy bear I found at a junk store in Chicago. Well he had a weird vinyl facemask and a helmet that didn't look like a helmet at all. so I made some modifications and now I present the new and and improved version

.

Let's root, root root for the Cubbies. If they don't win it's the same.

Cheap tickets?

Going to Wrigley and trying to go cheap, Stubhub and their multiple service charges or just buy from a dude on the street?

You never know what you will find at a thrift store in Chicago. Do I call him Wolf, or Adrian?

Revenge of the Birds With apologies to Gordon Lightfoot.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0DqPSF2fyo

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big receiver that called throw it to me
The Cardinals, they said, were given up for dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy.

With a load of receiving stats  nearly 8,000 yards more
Than  Larry Fitzgerald had as a rookie
That good receiver and true was a bone to be chewed
When the passes went to Breaston and Early

Number 11 was the pride of the Arizona side
Coming back from a game against Seattle
As the big receivers go he was bigger than most
With a team and the Captain well seasoned.

Concluding some terms with some ex Steeler worms
And a quarterback that had been cut from Cleveland
And later that night when they onside kicked
Did the ball bounce off of Jay Feely

The crowd in the stands made a tattletale sound
And the red sea broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the Captain did, too,
T'was the witch hunt of November in Phoenix.

The comeback came late and victory had to wait
When the D of Seattle came slashing
When afternoon came it was such a big pain
In the stadium at a place called Westgate

When blog time came Darren Urban came on line
Saying fellows it's too rough to please ya
At 7PM a vote of confidence came in
Bill Davis said fellas it's been good to know ya.

The O Line phoned it in they had defenders coming in
And the recievership and team was in peril
And later that night with the cameras out of sight
Came the wrath of Larry Fitzgerald.

Does anyone know where the love of God goes
When Kurt Warner decided to retire
The Bidwell's all say they'd have been forced to pay
If they'd put Donovan McNabb on the roster.

They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have went deep with Matt Leinart
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the fans and the season ticket holders.

The Seahawks roll, San Francisco sings
And the Rams could still win the division
Old Cardinals it seams gave up on their dreams,
still getting called for conduct unsportsmen.

And farther below worst case scenario
Takes in the first draft pick can send them
And the line goats go as the supporters all know
With the losses of November remembered.

In trusty Max Hall against New Orleans he played
the Cardinals thought they found the future
The church bell chimed, 'til it rang 29 times
For each drop by Larry Fitzgerald.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big receiver  that called  throw it to me
The Cardinals they say, were given up for dead
When the losses of November come often.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Be careful who you talk to out there

So I am walking back to the Redline, I just happened to be at Addison approaching Sheffield, yea Wrigleyville.  Their is a dude in a Sox hat walking to my side, we said hello to each other, he seemed like a nice enough chap.  As he stepped into the cross walk on Sheffield A guy on a bike whips around the corner almost taking him out, he ran back to the sidewalk, where I was.  He was a little freaked out but physically he was fine So I make a little joke, you made yourself a target with that hat on around here.  I expected a chuckle this guy starts yelling, then crying.  I don't even watch sports, I play sports I don't care about this hat, I didn't even buy, I found it on the southside.   !@#$ you  threw the hat onto Sheffield, kicked it then picked it up and put it back on and proceed across the street ranting and raving at the top of his voice about all the crazy people in this !@#$ ing town

Figured I better stop at Harry's for a beer before proceeding to the Redline.  I am not one for harassing people about their choice of headgear.  I swear it was meant to be a joke, any other corner in town, it never would have come up.  But wow, what a reaction.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Ok here we go, playoff time

I got bored with the long regular season and get really excited come playoff time.  Time for the march to the pennant! who are  our Cubbies playing in the first round? What is the general vibe about advancing? I think we can take any of those American League chumps if we get to the series. If Geo is healthy and D Lee brings his bat I like our chances.  In Lou we trust....

It will happen.

I crack myself up, RIP 2010  When do pitchers and catchers report for 2011?

Revenge of the Birds Calvin Pace Gets Supended for Four Games

The NFL has suspended Jets linebacker Calvin Pace for four games without pay for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Pace will miss New York’s first four games of the season and will be eligible to return for the Jets’ Monday night game at Miami on Oct. 12.

In a statement issued by the team Thursday, Pace said the suspension is a result of taking an over-the-counter dietary supplement that he was unaware violated the NFL’s policy.

Pace, in his second season with the Jets, is eligible to participate in preseason practices and games.

Revenge of the Birds Why hiring Dennis Green was the best move the Cards ever made

Ok stick with me on this one, In my opinion hiring Dennis Green was the best move in the history of the Arizona Cardinals.  Denny was a cheerleader for drafting Fitz.  If Green was not around who do we draft, Roethlisberger? A fine player in his own right but I think he was the right player at the right time for the Steelers,  My guess with the Cardinals O line at the time he would have been flat on his back too many times.  And out of the League or being a back up in Houston by now if he was originally drafted in AZ.  Of couse Warner never would have been signed either.  If Big Ben was on the Cardinals than he and Whisenhunt never would had their dispute in the steel city and Whiz would probably be the head coach in Pittsburgh right now.  I am sure coach Grimm would be right there in the burgh with him.

Ok the record under coach Green sucked, the team was disgraced with the Chicago temper tantrum.  I am certained if he was retained the birds would still be terible, but without the hiring and eventual firing of Mr Green  I don't think anyone would be using the words "Defending NFC Champions" and "Arizona Cardinals"  in the same sentance.

So call me nuts but I extend a big Revenge of the Birds thank you to Coach Green and his contributions to the team.
