Quick do-gooder opportunity for B'ham folks: help some babies
If anyone in the Birmingham area is looking for an immediate way to do some good and help out your neighbors, there's a opportunity at Boutwell Auditoriium. From the B'ham News:
For now, [Mayor] Bell asked those wishing to donate to go to Boutwell Auditorium.
"It will not be a shelter but a site that, once it's open, people can make donations of clothing, food and water that can be distributed to people who are in need in this community," Bell said. "It will be a clearinghouse."
The mayor may not have wanted it to become a shelter, but people are gathering there nonetheless. I just got off the phone with someone there and she said the most pressing need is diapers.
That's right, diapers. In the immortal words of a famous post around these parts: do the math.
If you're out of state or can't come by, then please feel free to help out by donating to the Red Cross or any of the other relief groups that are pitching in. But if anyone wants to "help the least of these" right away, then it's hard to find anyone more "least" than a bare-assed babe.
Roll Tide.
Hey, Joe!
"Seems like every game we win, the further Joe Lunardi (the ESPN bracketologist) puts us out," a jubilant Hines said in the Alabama locker room. "So we're just going to be the automatic qualifiers. That's what I say to Joe Lunardi. I watch ESPN. I listen to him. So he can listen to me."

Perhaps someone should tell Lunardi about the power of the cactus.
Nice shirt.
