http://www.kansascity.com/sports/chiefs/story/961410.html

“As far as I know, I’ll be a Chief next year,” Gonzalez said. “Depending on what Clark (Hunt) wants to do, if he wants to blow this whole thing up and bring in a new coaching staff and bring in a new coordinator with that and bring in a new quarterback in the draft, that all weighs into whether or not I want to be a Chief next year.

Well Tony, I think we all know that bringing in a new GM will make at least ONE or more or ALL of these changes. You've left the door open about your decision, but that's a lot to ask from the organization IMHO. I think we all know that the chances of everything staying "status quo" isn't going to happen. I'll read between the lines and say that TG will not want to be here and ask for a trade. That's fine. He's being very political and not wanting to end up looking like a bad guy. But, that's too many demands/requests.

“There are some really good coaches on this staff. I want Herm back, I want (offensive coordinator Chan Gailey) back. I want my position coach, Jon Embree, back.

So we can add position coach into the mix as well.

“If they don’t want to let me go, they don’t have to let me go and I’d have to deal with it. I’d still come back and play hard. But there’s only one year left in that. If they want to get something for me, that’s when I would say, ‘Why don’t you get something for me?’

Hint, Hint...wink, wink Clark/New GM.

“If he (Tyler) gets a whole offseason and gets the (practices) and the whole camp and gets his confidence going that he’s going to be the guy, then I think he can be a pretty good quarterback in this league for a long time.”

I agree. Let me add, if he wins the spot. He needs to get a lot of things going. I don't see it, but if he does I'll support him as well. That's a lot of "If's". Fix the long ball Tyler. Look at your third option as well on the field.

Twenty years as a general manager of an NFL team, that’s unheard of, especially nowadays.

Yeah, we know.

I know the vast majority wants Tony back. All I'm saying by commenting on the above is to not get too heartbroken if Tony ends up getting traded/retires or whatnot. We've all had hope for this team for many years and had favorite players and have gone through the bad times as Chiefs fans together. I guess I'm saying, don't get your hopes up. If he stay's....great! But don't get heartbroken if he leaves. It's business.

Bill Cowher will NOT be the coach for the NY Jets

Per ESPN's John Clayton. Bill Cowher WILL NOT interview for the HC position. Sources say Bill Cowher wanted to bring in his own personnel guy but the Jets want to stay with GM Mike Tannenbaum. Cowher will likely stay in broadcasting for another year.

Cowher has told friends the Jets job interested him for several reasons. First, Cowher would love to coach in the New York market. Second, two of his daughters are either going to school or working in the New York-New Jersey area.

KC 2-13

CINCI 3-11-1

I called this game about half-way through the season and it's finally arrived. This is it. It's make or break time for 2 teams that will be playing for more than just rings like in the other "Bowl" game at the end of the season. The reason I say this is that many players will be playing for a roster spot next year. In other words, having a job.

KC Offense ranked 25th VS. Cinci Defense ranked 23rd

Cinci Offense ranked 32nd VS. KC Defense ranked 30th

This is it. Many questions will be answered and the pre-game coach's speech will probably include the reminder that everyone should view this as the first pre-season/cut for the 2009 season.

This will finally give us a good indicator of the Offense and Defense.

If the KC "Arrow-Spread" can or can't work against a defense that is pretty equal to our Offense as a whole?

If Herm/Gun's Defense can stop the worst ranked Offense in the league?

There's no excuse. Both of these teams have to shine to prove some things:

1) If it's a lopsided victory, one team will be able to claim that they are much better than being compared to other "bottom" teams.

2) If it's a close game than it pretty much surmises that these teams are very close in regards to who they are, and what their record says about them. Improvement could be debated ad nauseum.

3) Will the Offense improve it's second half woes or will Cinci adapt and shut them down?

4) Will these teams play aggressive and sit on a lead thinking they've got the win wrapped up against the other "poor" team. Hello COACHES?!?!?!

5) KC has the worst sack numbers for a season (only 9) in the history of the NFL. Can they make it a sack-crazy game against the worst NFL Offense?

It's crunch time. No more excuses. No surrender.

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLLLLLLLLE....{sorry, that was the toilet flushing}

Pretty nifty. You can actually adjust different teams results for the next 3 weeks to try to determine the playoff scenario. Somehow I can't get the Chiefs to win the AFC or to get a wildcard ;) j/k

Actually if you also choose from the drop down list you can set the playoff scenario based on a number of factors such as streak, winning %, etc.

Interesting to note how the scenario changes between choosing Offensive Rank vs. Defensive Rank.

Offensively Atlanta has the edge and Defensively TB does.

Matt Ryan, welcome to the NFL.

Good article....I didn't know that the NFL had as many soap opera conflicts. Kind of funny reading it.

Gonzalez blamed Peterson for being greedy and unrealistic. At the same time, a source said former Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen was calling Gonzalez from Minnesota, stoking the flames and ripping Peterson in Gonzalez’s ear. When Gonzalez finally spoke to the media, he unleashed: “I’m not the first guy that’s felt like he’s been wronged around here. Ask Jared Allen. Ask a lot of guys. Ask John Tait. That’s what happens.” Which means you can cross Carl off Tony’s Christmas card list.

OK...that's pretty funny right there:

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: Happy Holidays to you, too. Speaking of the holidays, my wife saw a wonderful black leather trench coat she thought would be perfect for you. Are you still wearing the old one we got you as a thank you for selecting Trezelle Jenkins?

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: Funny you should mention Christmas. My wife and I were on the Plaza shopping the other night and spotted a lovely black leather sweat suit we thought you might like. And actually you sent me the original trench coat when I gave Carlton Gray a record contract. When we drafted Trezelle, you just sent flowers.

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: My memory is so bad. I can’t keep straight all the gifts I sent you. But I’ll never forget the black Mercedes we got you when you chose Elvis Grbac over Rich Gannon. You still driving that?

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: Hey, Al, it was good catching up. I gotta go. Mike Shanahan just e-mailed, and I have to assure him our defensive ends will continue to be fooled on every bootleg.

My holiday wish: an 0-16 team

Now, the 2000 San Diego Chargers, yes, that team had the wrong stuff. Those guys seemed to give up on coach Mike Riley roughly 12 minutes into the season. Plus, they had Ryan Leaf at quarterback. You can count on a team like that.

Unfortunately, after they started 0-11, the Kansas City Chiefs came to town and, because of injuries and an outdated calendar, the Chiefs started 452-year-old quarterback Warren Moon. It was a sad thing to watch in so many ways. Moon was utterly helpless -- he completed only 12 of 31 fluttery passes -- and the Chargers' John Carney made a 52-yard kick in the fourth quarter to clinch a one-point victory. The Chargers only victory, it would turn out.
