Support Veterans Watch Hockey
Hey SCHers Sam has been kind enough to let me post about the junior team I work for before and is letting me do so once again. Tonight's Chicago Hitmen game will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps injured veterans once they return home. Festivities will include US Army Captain Mark Little serving as the Hitmen's honorary captain. Little, who lost both legs in an IED attack in Baghdad will skate warm-ups with the team and lead them out of the tunnel. The Hitmen will be wearing special jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game. The Hitmen play at Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva, IL, and the festivities begin at 7:40 p.m.

Dear Guy Yelling SHOOOOT
So someone on the other team has been sent to the box and Sandstorm has people acting like idiots. The "song" cuts out just as the puck is dropped and now that 2.7 seconds have passed without a shot you feel like its the perfect time to start coaching from the 300 level. You cup your hands on either side of your mouth and bellow "SHOOOOOOOT" despite the fact that the point man has no lane. Nice job.
Look I understand your frustration with the powerplay. With this much talent it should be better, but the issue has not been the Blackhawks lacking shots with the man advantage.

Blackhawks Ticket Help
First off, I'm not sure if this post is permissible on here but I'm not sure where to turn. I've been a season ticket holder for several years now but this season the guy I spit my tickets with bailed, and between a family member's health issue and the weather causing some home damage I find myself unable to afford my tickets. I don't however want to lose them (esp. since I've already plunked down $1200 worth of deposit) and get sent to the waiting list and get different seats once I have the chance to get tickets again. As such I turn to the SCH community to see if anyone wants in on my seats.
Are we really missing that many shots?
Okay so this started as a comment in the recap of the Avs home loss but got too long, because well I like numbers.
Anyway, I like most of you have noticed how it seems like the Hawks have missed a ton of shots. I wasn't sure however is this was really happening or it just seemed that way because I watch every Hawks game and only 3ish other NHL games a week, and a ton of junior hockey. So I decided to do some poking around and here is what I've found.
Bring Kovi to Chicago
The only move that the Hawks can make that frees up space for the future and makes the team better now is for an expiring deal from a team that is not contending. If that is the case why not add one of the five best players in the game who happens to be on an expiring contract?
The Thrashers are $8 mil+ under the cap and could easily add salary, and I don't think that any other team could match what the Hawks have to offer. For example, Versteeg, Buff, and Barker are all players who have more value to other teams than they do here. With Ladd having been promoted to the second line Steeg and Buff have been manning Madden's wings on the third line and Barks is a third pairing d-man here. Adding a player like Kovi and reuniting him with Hossa would drastically improve the Hawks Cup chances. Here is how the lines would look before and after Bolland and Burrish are healthy:
