A few observations about the NFL that I have noticed recently…there is a trend here….

Denver Broncos: I remember the huge win they had against the Patriots. I remember their young brash (read that as stupid) coach running around the field after the game screaming into the crowd…acting like they had just won the Super Bowl. Flash forward, 3 straight losses, the last to the Redskins…their QB is injured…the wheels are falling off the cart. San Diego has a very good chance of overtaking them and winning the division.

New York Jets: Its still the offseason, not even the preseason and their fat head coach is calling out the Patriots. Talking like the Jets are the team to beat, acting like the fat bully he is. I remember early on in the season, a tough win against the Patriots…the media going crazy…the Jets are a hot team. Flash forward, 5 straight losses…the season basically over. Rex Ryan needs to remember that the season is 16 games long…the Patriots have the last laugh.

Lastly, I just want to say that I hope I don’t see Bryan Westbrook for the rest of the season. Not because I don’t like him…the opposite. Two concussions in 3 weeks are too much!! Take the rest of the season off and get better. Get well!!

Now, we all see the trend. The media buy into it and propagate it. Early season success does not mean anything. Both the Jets and Broncos won early and have melted. For the Broncos, I am pretty sure their Super Bowl was when they beat the Pats. Same for the Jets…it’s a shame really. It’s a long race….teams like the Colts, Patriots, and Steelers don’t fall into the weekly trap. My last word for the Broncos and Jets…when you win a regular season game, act like you have done it before!!

I know this is looking way in the future....but I tend to do that. I am always looking forward to the draft and what the Colts may do. Since (I believe) Ruud is in the last year of his contract and he fits Coyers scheme better...I am thinking the Colts pick Ruud up as a FA and then draft OT in the first round. This would kill two birds very quickly. Any thoughts on this? Am I crazy...?

Hi guys, I must say, with family and work I have to pick my games for the weekend and usually that means that I watch the NFL. I did get a chance to watch some of the ND vs. Michigan State game this past weekend and was rather intrigued by Eric Olsen on the ND OL. He was playing center...but has played most of his college career at G. For those in the know...how does he project into the NFL? He seemed a little nasty..which I liked. He has multiple position capabilities, and with Saturday getting older and the OL being an issue I was just curious. I know LT is more of a need, but I just wanted to throw this out there. I love looking at these young kids and trying to predict who will make a splash in the NFL!! thanks.

Hi all. I am not a real big college follower...more NFL...and I was wondering if there was any opinion of G/C Eric Olsen from ND? I saw him play this past weekend and was intrigued. When I look him up it appears he is a guard, however, I could have sworn that he was playing center when I saw him. I must admit I was not fixed to the television at the time. Will he make it at the next level? What are his strengths and weaknesses? Thanks!!

Just reading the book Pale Horseman which takes place in 9th century old England. Many good dark ages battle scenes and when I was reading it got me to thinking...if I was in a shield wall going up against the Norsemen who would I want around me? Jeff Saturday? Of course!! How about Jake Scott...you bet!! Another I would like near me would be Steve Hutchinson. I know...not totally Colts related...but the O line/D line battles kinda form like a shield wall of old!! If you were in a shield wall who would you like near you? Jared Allen maybe?

Ok, I know this is a little juvenile...but who is the biggest Colts BadAss? I remember a few years ago most of the Colts players said that it was Marcus Washington. Any ideas who it is now? Someone a little on the edge? Not quite playing with a full deck? Just plain BAD?

For my guess, maybe Clint Session? How about Jeff Saturday (the quiet type). But I really don't know. Would love some fun spirited opinions.

Just want to give some love to Kenny and the Skil team. Another win at the Batavus Pro Race today. He is getting fast at the right time. It would be great for him and this team to show well in July at the Tour. Skil has done just as much to combat performance enhancing substances in pro cycling than some of the bigger teams (Garmin, Columbia, etc.). This is what got them invited to the TdF in the first place. Here is to them taking a stage from the big boys. Comments?

If you have not heard...I guess the Senior Bowl is showing off more than the talent of players. It looks like Jack Del Rio and his staff are making a name for themselves as well. I took this from Matt Maguires posts on WalterFootball.com.

Let me just sincerely applaud the Cincinnati Bengals coaching staff for actually caring about coaching the game this week. I have been impressed with their intensity and attention to detail. On the other hand, Jack Del Rio couldn't care less about this game.

For example, in the morning practice, the Bengals made the North team do a lot of 1v1s with the receivers and defensive backs. They spent a large chunk of time on red zone offense. I was impressed when the coaching staff practiced game simulation in the 2 minute drill with ball spikes and paying attention to the clock. A draftnik friend of mine was telling me the Bengals special teams coach was practicing holding, punting, and place kicking with the special-teamers. What a tremendous opportunity for these kids to get that level of focus and instruction. Kudos to Marvin Lewis and his staff. So many people missed out on a great morning practice.

Let's just say if you can find a Vegas point spread for this game, bet the North team and bet them BIG. Del Rio ended practice today 10 minutes early, the coaches and players were lackadaisical on the field, and I felt like the lack of preparation for practice really showed. It wouldn't shock me if Del Rio is gone after this season because I can see why the Jaguars looked lethargic in games. Today was basically a walkthrough for the South team and I don't think the Jags coaching staff really cares at all. If you didn't want to be here, then don't coach in this game and waste a great opportunity for these seniors in this prestigious week.
