Double-T Nation "I'm gonna be the head special teams coach...and get ready"

Did anyone else love this quote from Coach during his presser?  Special Teams and Defense = championships.  Let our offense do their thing, and bring the house on the other sides.  Other items he hit on...Starters on special teams, we are going to make it fun, create turnovers, special teams are not going to be a play off.

He also seems very high on shawn corker and tre'vante porter.  Seems like Coach isn't too impressed with what Leach had in the program and how they played in the Alamo Bowl.

Per ESPN's Bruce Feldman the following have been fired.

Note: Fort Worth Star Telegram is calling it as well, with Clay McGuire gone also. See link.

You can listen to the audio on the right hand side of the page about half way down. The Tubs interview is about 3:30 in and lasts about 6-7 minutes. Love this guy!

Double-T Nation My case for Tommy Tubberville.

If we don't make a run to hire Tommy Tubberville, I will be very disappointed.

TT (you like that coincidence?) holds the bag over Ruff in ever significant DC category, and obviously is miles ahead of him in HC category.   Here we go...

In 1993, while serving as the defensive coordinate for the University of Miami Tuberville directed a Miami defense which was ranked No. 3 nationally in scoring defense (12.6 ppg) and No. 5 nationally in pass defense (91.15 ypg). He spent eight seasons from 1986-93, serving on the staffs of Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson

In 1994, while serving as the defensive coordinate for Texas A&M Tuberville served as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Texas A&M for one season. In 1994, he helped lead the Aggies to a 10-0-1 record and No. 8 final ranking by the Associated Press. Under his direction, the Aggie defense finished No. 4 nationally in scoring defense (13.1 ppg), No. 5 nationally in total defense (265.5 ypg) and No. 6 nationally in rushing defense (92.4 ypg).

In 1995, He was hired by Ole Miss, Tuberville posted a winning record (25-20 from 1995-1998). Inheriting a Rebel program plagued by NCAA sanctions and probation, he guided Ole Miss to a winning record in his first season in 1995, despite having just 61 players on scholarship. He did not have a full compliment of scholarship players to work with in any of his four years at Ole Miss. He was named the Associated Press SEC Coach of the Year Honors in 1997, leading a 8-4 team to a bowl win. American Football Quarterly magazine selected him as runner-up for its Schutt Sports Coach of the Year honor.

Tubberville boast a 100-60 overall coaching record. Leading the Auburn Tigers to an SEC Championship and the Western Division title in 2004. Under his direction, Auburn made eight consecutive bowl appearances including five New Year's Day bowl berths.

Auburn was a perfect 13–0 in 2004 including the SEC title and a win over Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl. Tuberville received Coach of the Year awards from the Associated Press, the American Football Coaches Association, the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

In 2005, despite losing the entire starting backfield from the unbeaten 2004 team to the first round of the NFL draft, Tuberville led Auburn to a 9–3 record, finishing the regular season with victories over rivals Georgia and Alabama.

Under Tuberville, Auburn had a winning record against its biggest rival, Alabama (7–3), and was tied with its next two most significant rivals, Georgia (5–5) and LSU (5–5). He led Auburn to 6 straight victories over in-state rival Alabama, the longest win streak in this rivalry since 1982, which was the year Auburn broke Alabama's 9 year streak.

Tuberville also established himself as one of the best big game coaches in college football, winning 9 of their last 15 games against Top 10 opponents (since the start of the 2004 season). In 2006, his Tigers recorded victories over two Top 5 teams who later played in BCS bowls, including eventual BCS Champion Florida. Tuberville had a 5-2 career record versus Top 5 teams, including 3 wins versus Florida.

Most of this can be found if you google Tommy Tubberville, I just thought I would bring it to the Tech masses.  If you compare TT to RM, Tubberville has been around winning programs his whole coaching career.  Learning from the likes of Dennis Erickson, Jimmie Johnson, and R.C. Slocum (all winners).  He knows how to shake hands, and he knows how to win.  I would much rather have TT in front of me, selling me on a football program than RM.  That is my opinion.

Feel free to disagree, but Tommy Tubberville is my vote for head coach.
