I was born in San Diego, CA, raised in Lubbock, and attended Tech for 5 years part time, earning 75 hrs towards a degree in Studio Art. I am presently living in Kyle, TX.
I started reading this blog in '07, joined in '08 and am very pleased with most of the involved Texas Tech Red Raider fans who blog here. No other blog visited is as good.

Breaking News About Texas Tech!

At the Texas Tech Official Site, there was an article about the 12th practice and the Red Raider Luncheon, where a record 1800 people attended, with many more turned away. Dr. Jan Tillery, Guy Bailey's wife, gave a touching speach in Guy's absence. SOME GREAT NEWS ON THE WAY Some great news about Texas Tech University is on the way and will come out this weekend. Make sure you check texastech.com on Saturday! I just wonder if this "news" has anything to do with Tech's Tier I Status? Very interesting.

Jeffers will be out for at least a few days with a concussion

Harrison Jeffers suffered a concussion just when getting back to speed after having back surgery earlier in the year. This kid just can't seem to catch a break. I hope he can recover so next week he can concentrate on getting ready for SMU. I also ho no more injuries occur, especially to any of the top players.

Lady Raiders completed their Canadian tour with a perfect at 4-0

Lady Raiders come home Monday after beating Vancouver Island University, 100-34, Saturday evening in Nanaimo, B.C. Curry started 3 sophs & 2 frosh. They really were not in danger of losing any game and represented Tech very well. They had a 78-41 victory over the University of the Fraser Valley at the Envision Athletic Centre in the city of Abbotsford on Aug. 11. Before that they started their Canada tour with a 71-65 win over Vancouver Select on Monday, Aug. 10, at the Richmond Olympic Oval, the 2010 Winter Olympics skating place. Their second win was over the University of British Columbia, 85-49, at War Memorial Gym the next night. The leading scorers, as well as I can tell, were Christine Hyde with 51 points, Kierra Mallard with 48 points and Casey Morris and Antiesha Brown with 35 and 37 points respectively. Mallard had at least 25 rebounds to lead the team. Welcome back Lady Raiders. It looks like the added personnel will be a good thing.

Zouzalik out two to four weeks

Austin Zouzalik had an emergency apendectomy and will be out for at least two weeks, maybe four to recover from the operation. We already know what he can do so him missing time won't be real hard. However, with the new conditioning regimen being used, he could be set back in that regard to where he could be seldom used for a couple of games at least. I figure he should be back to full speed physically and otherwise by the time the UT game rolls around. Say a word of prayer for Zou as he goes through this trying time. One thing is for sure: some younger guys will need to step it up and prove they can cover for this loss, temporary though it may be.

Ubben lists Bird and Duncan among Yop 10 LBs in B-12

This is a pretty nice thing for Tech. Most accolades have been associated with the offense, but these two have been recognized by ESPN's David Ubben prior to the season as stalwarts in the Tech "D", and among the top 10 in the league, Duncan at No. 3 and Bird at No. 9. I think they have earned this recognition and are two big reasons Tech's defense could be enough better than past years to allow the offense to dominate games. Many will be surprised, I feel at how well this defense will play this year. I am happy, as well as a bit surprised (it is Ubben, after all) at the attention these guys are getting. All I can say is "BRING IT ON!"

Horner replaces Gustafson on Texas Tech baseball staff

Apparently there were ill feelings by Gustafson when Spencer decided to take over control of the pitchers. Now he can concentrate on them as Horner will work with Jarvis instructing the hitters, as well as taking over the catchers from Spencer, freeing Spencer to work solely with the pitchers. Since the pitching did seem to improve after Spencer began instructing them, this move makes sense. Gustafson decided to resign so Spencer had to make a move to fill the staff back up. I think he made a good choice and hopefully this will enable the Raider Baseball team to improve a bunch.
