OU 2012 FB Schedule

Big 12 Releases 2012 Football Schedule

133

The Big 12 released the 2012 football conference schedule on the heels of the Big East formal announcement releasing West Virginia University. Of note for Texas is the start of conference play will be out of pan and right into the fire with games against OSU, WVU, OU, and Baylor before catching a break against Kansas. Texas better take advantage of a seemingly weak OOC schedule and carefully manage starter minutes because the conference schedule looks daunting.

Mack Brown - One-On-One with Craig Way

11

Absolute must listen for the diehard Longhorn football fan. Mack Brown discusses recruiting cycles, complacency, and reload memes. Dick Tomey's consulting efforts appear to be paying dividends. On several occasions in the past, Coach Brown has mentioned things that Tomey has offered. Multi-position evaluation is one of them. Interesting commentary on the "Shiro" Davis recruitment. Coach basically says that we were never out of it due to Bo Davis' involvement. Shiro said he was "intrigued" of the pass rush possibilities in Big 12 play due to quarterback skill. Mack Brown compares him to Brian Orakpo. In other interviews, Shiro stated that a big draw to the Texas program was the fact discussions were about academics and family first. Football was a distant third. Additionally, you probably have read or heard the direct quotes from Shiro regarding the need to play his decision close to the vest because of SEC, shall we say, shenanigans. This business about criticizing recruits for their school selection borders on the deranged. Those that trade on the social media vulgarity should be horse whipped. Also, Coach Brown sends a message to Longhorn nation regarding work ethic. "At Texas you can get complacent, even when something is good," he said. "We as coaches have to keep putting pressure on ourselves. We've got to get off to a great start with this next class." "I want to walk out on the field as a head coach and know our bunch is as intimidating to the other bunch," referring to his understanding the job of identifying, securing, and developing the best talent as head football coach is never finished. "And I want Texas fans to be really proud of what walks out there. I don't want them to duck. I don't want them to say 'we don't look good at this, or that'. I want us to walk into a stadium and represent what Texas Football should represent." With all due respect coach, just win, baby. Just win.
