For all fans in the greater Philadelphia area:

The Penn State Great Valley Alumni Society is throwing a tailgate bash on their campus in Malvern to watch the MSU game. Your $15 admission gets you all you can eat food, and all you can drink beer & wine. You read that correct: eat food & drink beer all day for $15.

And if that's not enough, you'll be watching the game on a THIRTY FOOT SCREEN. Your 46" flat screen at home is nice, but really it's a complete piece of crap when compared to a 30' screen.

Proceeds from the event will benefit a scholarship fund and THON. So, you get to eat, drink, watch on a giant tv, save kids with cancer, and help people afford grad school.... all for $15! There's also a silent auction with some great prizes, including a football signed by JoePa. If that's not enough... this is my party, so you have a 100% guarantee that it's going be a badass tailgate. Doors open at 2:30pm.

I say, "Some of these guys don't even know what a tie is." I just want to be stylish, so we stick the wildcat in there one play a game (laughter).

Q. You usually wear a jacket.
I know, I usually wear a jacket. But after watching you guys for 11 weeks, I felt I was a little overdressed (laughter).

HATE WEEK! Eastern Motors Pump Up video!

Admittedly, when I first saw Eastern Motors on the 2009 schedule, I wasn't sure how exactly that would work. I mean, they sell Ford, Honda, Chevy, Beemers... and minivans. How could they field a competitive football team?

Then I watched their hype videos (links below), and I realized despite their small, IAA car dealership status, they have a great NFL pipeline. Serious NFL talent on their roster which should give some of our younger players fits. As JoePa said, "They're a heck of a team."

Anyway, HATE WEEK, Eastern Illinois/Motors. HATE WEEK. HATE THE MOTORS/PANTHERS!

VIP to away games?

Attention all Big Timers: PSU Alumni Association will be announcing travel packages to a few away games. What's the big deal, you ask? They always had some connection to various travel groups for road games.

Sure, but this is the first time they're offering CHARTER FLIGHTS out of State College. Fly out Saturday morning, fly home after the game. VIP, no waiting in line at commercial airports, open bar on the jet. NICE.

Packages are very reasonably priced (for those of you who don't own their own Gulfstream G650 like I do or lease through NetJets like RUTS does). I think they're emailing the link to everyone this week, maybe tomorrow. I'll post it once it goes public for those who don't get the email.

Can't make any of the trips listed for this year, but do like the idea of traveling in style to see the Lions!!!

In Joe's 43 years of coaching, he's entered the season with a senior starting QB with at least one year of starting experience 14 times. In those 14 seasons, the Lions averaged 9.7 wins and a winning percentage of .810. Paterno's teams overall (43 years) averaged 8.9 wins or .749 overall.

In those 14 years, PSU won 2 NC's (82 & 86), and 2 undefeated seasons (69 & 94).

Just thought was a good omen for this season.......
