Raiders add commitment from Coldspring-Oakhurst tackle

2

We have been working on this UH commit for a while. "Matt Wilson, an offensive tackle for Class 3A Division II finalist Coldspring-Oakhurst, said Monday he had switched his oral commitment from the Cougars to the Red Raiders after visiting the Tech campus this weekend." I wanted another good potential OL. Wilson looks like a typical Air Raid tackle.

Pinkel reiterated his support of his quarterback when asked about replacing Gabbert with a backup against Texas Tech. Gabbert was asked about it, too, and fired off this dandy: "Well, I think you guys are the ones who want me pulled. Everybody on my team wanted me out there. I wanted to be out there. Your guys' opinions on who should get yanked, what should be called really does not matter to us at all."

Lady Raider Basketball | 2010 Season

I love women's basketball.  It is a great game, more finesse than the men's game but not an iota of fragile. The early years of the Comets were fun with Sheryl Swoopes reminding us of her great...

Have you lost your inner pirate ? Coach Taylor had just lost his entire football team because he had forfeited a game in which his players were getting beaten up...physically mauled. We still have a team...but we look as much as Coach Taylor did when he lost his, find your inner pirate...we don't know why God does these things, He just does... Swing your sword ! Find your inner pirate.

Tech beats out Alabama for defensive line recruit

5

Don Williams wrote a nice piece about our new DL recruit...a guy we out recruited a number of very good football programs for his commit. But he said Tech landed Lewis’ pledge largely through the efforts of Tech receivers coach Tommy Mainord, who recruits the area. "I’m going to give that bulldog credit," Smith said of Mainord. "He got on it and stayed on it. He got after Jon Lewis when he got the job there at Tech, and he did not back off." Smith is Jon Lewis' HS coach. Well done to Tommy Mainord!

"It’s just a good week to get away from everything and feel like you’re actually on a camping trip with good people and just hanging out talking about Tech, talking about football. It’s great," Vanderpool said. "I come out here for the people and the atmosphere, not for the bracelet to get in the game early." Nice write, enjoy !

BYU's Is Using Two Quarterbacks this season.

1

"BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall announced Friday that the Cougars plan to utilize a two-quarterback system in 2010 featuring junior Riley Nelson and freshman Jake Heaps. We plan on playing both Riley and Jake at quarterback and feel both will be effective leading our team," Mendenhall said. "Each is a talented player with a different style, which will pose some difficulties for opposing defenses. Both players are committed to this decision and excited to lead our team." This one caught my eye / ear because the report indicates that Sheffield is getting (or has) a boot designed by UA to wear this coming season to protect the foot. I am happy to see that we are minimizing risk with him.

NCAA Proposes to limit when a recruit can be offered a scholarship

1

Interesting comments about the current thinking on part of the NCAA and the current trend of offering scholies to younger and younger ages. There are also some ideas about allowing more contact to younger players....something I think is unwarranted...in fact I am more of the opinion of limiting contact to younger players...geeez they do deserve some privacy.

TTU's First Air Raid TD -- Kingsbury to Williams

ESPN on TTU BB Recruits

"Pat Knight's class stayed put from the early period. Jamel Outler (Houston/ Bellaire) will add an athletic slasher from the wing who can also get to the rim on the break. Javarez Willis (Dallas/ Christian Life Center Academy) is an attacking combination guard, while the back-to-the-basket scoring and experience of power forward Paul Cooper (Auburndale, Fla./Gulf Coast CC) give the Red Raiders a well-rounded class that will provide depth and athletic ability inside and out." ESPN's ranking placed this class in the bottom quartile of Big12 2010 schools.

Texas Tech Leader for Ramik Wilson

LOL ! I like this kid...'they don't know what's going to happen." He is obviously doing some marketing, but he has a great way about it, an enjoyable presence...plus I get the sense that he can play football. One report has Chad Scott as our lead man on Ramik.
