Letter to Editor- A real slap in the face
I want to make myself perfectly clear, this is an observation on my part and strictly my own opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I have been a Rams fan a very long time, the ups and the more often downs of this team have me taken it all with a grain of salt and just move slowly on hoping to be a winning team again. At first, finding this site full of incite and perspective was to me and other fans here, who have had little to fill their little empty Ram's heart full of hope. In the short time I have been on here, there has been a large, ever growing group of writers. With that as I guess as in everything in life, most of the regulars here, have belittled others for their views. While seemingly all for fun, those who do that forget that this is a forum to express what YOUR OPINIONS ARE!
Is this what happens on other sites like this? We have all been wrong with our guesses here. Let me say it again, everyone who opens this site is guilty. Let those who express their views in a manner out of norm, feel as you who happily agree with someone else views. Didn't your parents tell you growing up if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything. Is this statement so outdated now?!
This medium is no long that. Some of the TST writers have gone beyond thanking those who post here.
To any that read this far, there are other Fan sites out there. While the presentation on this site is the best, alienation of some here has me no longer interested.
Crossing the line
Due to lack of interest, no more reviews!
Last year has been swept under the rug, as it should, by the vast majority of you. While the theme of new coaching leads the way. Some little picking and prodding on of some 2011 players continues. Well just stop it, already. If you really think about it, most of the players brought in during the injury purge wouldn't/shouldn't/couldn't have made most NFL rosters if that flood hadn't started. On the positive end of that, there were players that surprised some of you (Josh Gordy for one) that could make the roster next season.
I'm a little curious if anybody has done any research on injury history of the Rams since the Linehan era. It just seems there have been more than the Rams share since then. Who could the Rams bring in to correct this?
My heart and the hate I have of the Pats wants the Giants to win, but I'm picking New England to win 27-13
All of you just didn't see these odds coming, did you?
Sam Bradford will be a top tier QB in 2012- 6 to 1 with Lloyd, 17 to 1 without
Odds of Lloyd resigning- 5 to 2
Odds of at least two new 2012 starters on the O-line- 6 to 9
Odds of someone other than Sjax starting at RB in 2012- 50 to 1
The Rams will not trade the 2012#2 overall pick- 3 to 1
Rams will draft someone not discussed at #2- 99 to 1
There will be at least one trade/signing no one saw coming- 2 to 7
Someone on next years' roster will set an NFL record- 29 to 1
Coach Fisher will suspend a player in 2012- 33 to 1
Will continue to post odds as events happen...................
Player Evaluation- Offense Pt1
While I don't consider myself to be a NFL or even college level talent evaluator, I'd thought I would give all of you my take on each player currently on the roster who had measurable playing time this past season:
Sam Bradford- He still remains my choice as the "ONE'. 2011 was not highlight film quality for him or anyone else on the offense for that matter. But, given time, he can get the ball to the receivers with the best of them. There was way too much thrown at him this year in my opinion. The ineptness of the line and receivers as a group plus making the line calls was too much to overcome. Maybe, if he had a full camp this year, things might of been different. I'm thinking if he hadn't been hurt and played to the level of 2010, two, maybe three more wins would have possible with everything around him being the same. It was in his best interest for 2012 that he was shut down in the last few games though.
What he needs to work on for 2012: Footwork- I know much of the difference in McD's offense affected this as he was asked to be more of a pocket (I know, what pocket?!)passer. But he didn't seem to access those situations when he should have and adjusted to what was given to him. This might have allowed him to take something off some of those passes that hit the receivers right in the hands. Speed- Even before his injury, there was was a glaring difference in the way he moved around this year. New coaching will need to focus on this, as even some of the other not so nimble QBs (Brees for one) could make those adjustments on the fly. New conditioning coaches will help this too. Focus- I know I'm not the only one who saw that at times he seemed distracted on the sidelines. Maybe McDs voice was irritating (he he), or his ping-pong buddies were kicking his butt. Fisher, I'm sure, will get his head on straight this year. Leadership- Everyone here knows that Sjax is the team leader, but Bradford needs to be the leader in the huddle and he's not. Step up Sam, the receivers don't fear your wrath. Get in their face or make the next read to let them know were you stand.
Whats in store for 2012: With a QB coach and a possible less complicated offense, I'm sure we will see the Sam Bradford we all envisioned as 'King Sam'.
A.J. Feely- O.K., he was on the field for the biggest win of the year, but what else is there to say about him? If Bradford hadn't won the starting job last year, would we have been in the running last year, NO! Is he a capable back-up, yes, he does give it his all, but I'd take Brady Quinn over him everyday. He needs to hang it up! And no, he would not be a viable choice as QB coach.
Kellen Clemens- This dude is a keeper as a back-up and could even push Bradford a little next year if he's here. He picked up McDs offense fairly quick and could have even won a few more games when Bradford went down if he was on the roster at the time. Fisher will try to hold-on to him unless a better option is out there before the 2012 season.
Steven Jackson- What other back at his age puts out the effort, performs and leads by example as he does across the board. He had some health issues early on, but rarely did we see him not preform on the Pro-bowl level that we're use to seeing. The only thing in my opinion that would keep out of the H.O.F. is that he never started on a winning team. He has lost a step, but made up for that by altering his running style, hitting tacklers at angles on the edges to add yards to each carry. He doesn't hit the holes as he once did, but when he did, tacklers knew what was coming and only a few DBs could take him down solo.
What he needs to work on for 2012- Accept that less carries would benefit him the most in his quest for being on a winning team. Fisher sees this, but will pound him at the end of games to manage the clock. Not lining him split out will also help his longevity for the season. He did drop some passes in screens this year. Upgrading the O-line may produce Pro-bowl numbers for him again. Dropping a few pounds may not help his inside game but might improve his speed in overall game.
Whats in store for 2012: He will continue to be the leader and voice of the Rams again this coming season. Hopefully, Fisher has to vision to see that getting a young scat-back back-up may add a year or two to his career.
Brit Miller- He did fine as fullback but needs to work on blocking assignments in the passing game to make roster next year. An upgrade to a hybrid fullback/tight-end type will happen in Fisher's plan for 2012, I'm thinking. Can he fill that bill?
Jerious Norwood- His injuries limited his play and when he did play, he wasn't visible enough to be back next year.
Quinn Porter- Didn't do anything carrying the ball and his Kick-off returns were bottom ten. See you!
Cadillac Williams- Everyone will remember the 'lateral', but I think he a good job as the second RB option. I'm thinking that the Rams will try to get younger at this position. He could still make the team next year in a limited role as the #3 back.
Danario Alexander- Being a good straight route receiver won't be enough to make the team next year. He's just too brittle to think he could work himself into winning a position anywhere else on the team. Maybe bringing in a new condition coach could turn him into Bionicario. We might not be talking about drafting Blackmon if you knees weren't popcorn.
Dominique Curry- There is absolutely nothing to say about him as a receiver, but as a edge buster he one of the best and might make that game changing play a few times in the future doing this. Don't know much about his playing history in college as I would think about moving him to DB based directly on his aggressive play on special teams.
Brandon Gibson- He's another one who is going to have a huge hill to climb to make the team next year. He just disappeared after the Lloyd trade. To his benefit, he didn't have stone hands as much as some others did this year.
Brandon Lloyd- Your the best thing that happened during the season this year. Re-sign this guy! I would give him a huge signing bonus this year and a large$ for the next. You proved all the nay-Sayers wrong with your play and reminded all of us (see Bruce and Holt)what having a top flight receiver can make. If he's resigned he could help guide the young guns to be more productive. You have come a long ways from your troubled days on the 9ers. He's the prime example of what a change of scenery can make. Are you listening Mr. Holmes?
Nick Miller- I would bring him back next year to compete for the KR/PR positions. With a better blocking wedge, he might have broke off a few more big returns.
Austin Pettis- Using PEDs was surely breaking the four pillars ideal and losing you for the first 2 games next year will cost you reps for sure. I'm willing to give you a rookie pass if you beat-out Amendola(if he's here next year) in camp. Maybe you and a couple others on the team could graft on lizard hands for grip in the off season. Stay clean and play you A** off next year and prove your 3rd round draft status.
Greg Salas- The NFL is a long ways from coconuts and grass skirts 'Ae? It was a tough year for you also and there were a few guys picked behind you that did very well. So, what's it going to be for you this coming season. Please surprise us all!
The rest of the offense was much more difficult to critique, so I split it into two post.
Oh no, you didn't go there?....Oh yes I did!
Happy days are here again! We not only have a new head-coach, we have the most experienced one available. The football gods seem to have smiled again on us again. Dick Vermil 2.0, huh? And yes, it's too early for any predictions for the 2012 season. There is much to do to right this ship.
I do want to give my review of the 2011 season in an unique format:
The top ten reasons for the 2-14 season.
1. Injuries
2. Game management.
3. Lack of play-makers on offense.
4. Unwillingness to develop and keep young players.
5. Waiting too long to make player of need trade.
6. Allowing McD to be on side-lines during games.
7. Expecting the defense to win games.
8. Rookie owner.
9. Lack of spitting, foul-mouth, in your face, demanding and confident head-coach.
10. Four Pillars - No fire/desire....Not a risk taker....Blind to the whole picture....Cheer-leader.

Musts for 2012 Season-
Coaching- In progress
Draft/ Sign Free agents-
Resign B. Lloyd- Offer 2yrs 1st yr. 3.5mil plus incentives, 2nd 5mil plus incentives
Get an established TE to mentor Kendricks
Replace/Re-structure/Trade J. Smith- at best 4th rd choice in trade or journeyman receiver (Jones Texans/ Henderson NO), 2mil 1yr redo of contract
!st Rd draft choice- Kali if not moving down, then Floyd Norte Dame if there in Rd2
Or Blackmon if moving down to 4th-8th- then Reiff Iowa or Adams Ohio St if still available at Tackle (around 18-21)
The rest of Draft should focus at DT, OLB (1in draft maybe sign Spencer from Dallas), DB then specialist RB/KR/PR
There just has to be other options!
Someone on another posting mentioned a few college coaches to consider as the Fisher opera continues. I like the idea of Nick Sabin. I know he's not likely to leave Alabama, but if the talk of throwing $ and VP to Fisher on the table, why not a retread. Saban's success in Alabama partially has to be from what he learned from his failure in Miami. And this might be more attractive place for free agents with him here.
There are others also that might be out there worth looking at. Dave Wienstead (spelling?), Haley and others as assistants could work out like Vermeil's staff did when he was here. The concern for experience would be addressed and there is no replacing NFL experience.
Some concern that Fisher's record is of concern, come-on man, you want a experienced coach right? Who else available right now would you get then?!!! I also don't want someone with no H.C. experience. And to me, there's no one that has been mentioned or interviewed that can succeed here without a strong, experienced G.M. and staff here.
Free Agents to Consider
I'll let you draft pundits hash it out for 2012 Draft.I don't watch much College Football and what I do know, is what all of you post here. So you all go for it! But I will touch on Free Agents that may fall into the Rams budget range depending on the choice to trade draft picks which may cut into this. And surely it will depend on the incoming management also.
First thing- Re-sign Lloyd , Amendola and keep/re-sign Clemons as Back-up QB. Lloyd and Clemons proved their worth and Amendola (even if he's 90% from before) does change the way defenses game plan for the Rams. Now by position, these players need to be considered (please update me if any of these players are no longer available):
QB- Covered
RB- I'd keep Williams. We might be able to afford Tolbert (SD), maybe two yrs. I like Bush from Oakland. Maybe Steve Slayton (Mia) if he's healthy.
WR- We really won't be able to afford these players. But you never know what trade magic could happen. Bowe(KC) would be my 1st choice, then maybe Mechim(NO) or Garcon(IND). How great it would be if we could get Ginn(SF) for our return guy. Miller is ok for punts, but we sucked on kick-off returns no matter how good the blocking was.
TE- If McD is retained(I doubt it though with all the open OC positions), this may be the position that we may spend a little$. These are all front liners and my choices in order even if McD isn't here. Finley(GB, who maybe too pricy if they win SB again), Davis (Wash, maybe trade possibility), Lewis (Jax) and Olsen (Panthers).
Guard- I still think Guard is the biggest need though free agency. Again these shouldn't be too pricy. Grubbs(Balt) and Ugon(NYG).
Tackle-With such a premium on tackles, we just can't afford any of the decent ones. I do think Dahl and Staffold will be OK with Goldberg backing up. J. Smith (Battered Ram, not Battering Ram) might have some trade value.
Center- Another position of need. I do think this will happen though the draft or trade. Hardwick (SD) is the only FA I would consider.
DT- Solia(Mia) is also the only FA I like. Drafting at this position is more likely.
OLB- Depending on which defense we run with our new HC, will determine which way we go. I do like Spencer(DAL) and Johnson (Balt). I mentioned in another post moving Quinn to OLB. Keep Brady P. as a back-up and maybe we can get lucky in the draft here.
DB- Finnegan(TEN) no more four pillars to worry about, but can we afford him. Branch(Oak) is a good young talent. We should get healthy here in 2012 and the experience of the others will create some competition.
PK- J. Brown should be drop-kicked to oblivion. Draft!!!!!!
My Turn To Weight In!
Hey everyone,
It was a hard year to be a Rams fan till now! The house cleaning has begun, praise to the powers that be! I have been holding all this in for months now with the exception of the trading of barbs from the 9er fans. We as Rams fans have to be humbled by the season the 9ers had. Looking into the glass house that all of us Ram's fans envisioned. A strong defense, enough offense to put points on the board and special teams that didn't allow a return all year. Good luck to them in the playoffs. But, New Orleans is my pick for winning the Superbowl.
Was there anyone here that would call Sunday's game a comeback, really, come on man!
As of this minute, McD is the only one to survive the purge. And yes, he did call some knuckle head plays this year. But I think it was the best thing for all concerned to keep him. Take the Norwood interception, if Sam was playing, that play would NOT of been called. It didn't fool the 9ers, though the idea of running that play did look good in concept vs. the defense they were in. If Norwood looks off the route or second read (Lloyd) it might of been successful. It was all Norwood! Mr. Bradford and the remaining offensive players will only benefit with 2nd year into his offense.
I have been reading post from time to time in my hiatus, and have noticed the critics ongoing bashing of McD. The only thing that kept the offense down was the dropped balls early on and the Injuries later on. While, even if these weren't an issue, 6 or 7 wins were possible if Spags had better game management skills. And McD didn't have to deal with the absolute lack of talent and health in his past coaching situations. The only thing that McD needs to do differently is be UPSTAIRS in pressbox.
Changes need to happen: If Fisher is Hired (my 1st choice), he should be given the final say-so on all personnel. He has enough experience and flexibility with the offense that there shouldn't be any issues. It also works out that he works with marginal talent better at line-backer (except Animal Jr. of course) and defensive back (I do rate Mikell in top ten dbs). The need to get younger in the middle of the d-line might be the #1 need with youth at outside linebacker would b 1a. Health would be next and the development of younger players ongoing.
Another thing he should consider is moving Quinn to SAM on passing downs next to C.Long, with You on the opposite side and Stewart as the nickle backer. Quinn having a full year behind him now can focus on improving against the run. Changes will happen with a new coach big-time across the board.
The list is longer for those to(would/should)leave as opposed to staying, so I'll go with who's staying.
Lloyd- a given if McD stays. And no trouble from him. Bless you Brandon.
SJax- Eric D has always been my #1 Ram back, but your a hero for being the guiding light for the Stl. Rams in these dark times. I hope you can go out like Walter Payton who was finally rewarded after a mirror career of yours. Give us one more year!
Chris Long- I think every-one can agree that he has proven his draft status not only to Rams fans but across the NFL. Your goals will be rewarded with wins!
The Animal Jr.- We won the lotto getting you in second round. Your going to be a Pro-bowler for years to come.
Sam Bradford- Just let the ping-pong Jedi guide you to complete health. Be ready to lead this team into the next step. You don't seem to want the Limelight, but the fans want the other teams to be ready for battle that you'll (hopefully now) bring.
Quintin Mikell- We know part of the reason you came here was for Spags. But, we also know your a pro who gives it all and will set the example for the young guys.
Danny Amendola- Boy, we could of used you this year in Mcds offense. Hope you get well and stick around.
Donnie Jones- It seems even you couldn't avoid the injury bug. Your a great weapon as long as your not asked to kick 80 yds every time.
Dominique Curry- Special team ace. Maybe convert to db?.
Mark Clayton- How much do you have left? Give us 2-3 receptions a game next year and I'll be happy.
Harvey Dahl- Thanks for giving us some entertainment this year. There hasn't been much to enjoy this year except watching you play. Whoever plays next to you in 2012 will be lucky.
Kellen Clemons- Your more apt to stay to me than Feely (maybe Cleveland). Sure proved to be more capable.
Darian Stewart- I'm hoping Jerry Gray (maybe Al Harris would be willing to coach here too)comes here with Fisher to tutor you along with the other young dbs.
Lance Kendricks- You were my ROY choice this year and might of been in the running if you didn't have the drops. Something needs to change if your going to be successful.
Salas, Pettis and N.Miller will be here too. Everyone else should be worried. Youth is needed in every position!
Rams biggest needs/improvements after the Jump--------

Here I Lay
Here I lay
Waiting for the tide to carry me
Towards the sunset I pray
Here I lay
Watching the clouds running
To where I want to be
Here I lay
As a fan of a 0-6 team
With no heart, no soul
Here I lay
No defense anywhere to see
With holes to envy Swiss cheese
Here I lay
An offense that has become offensive
As the sand beneath me
Here I lay
With a coach who claps all day
In hopes to have his job taken away
Here I lay
It's the Saints we next play
Oh, another dreadful Sunday
Here I lay
Please, Sun don't go away
Don't make me suffer watching the Ram's display
Here I lay
Lack of disipline = Rams losing
After watching the game again for the third time, I just couldn't hold back from wanting to toss a flash-bang into a coaches meeting. Seeing time and time again costly penalties stopping very productive drives directly points to coaching. Yes, the team made large strides in correcting tempo and play calling. Yet, it's as if the cowboy (forgive the pun) forgets to draw his pistol before pulling the trigger. And yes, the offense put together some nice flashes that we were all waiting for only to have a penalty or brain-farts halt everything creating sunk-holes that can stop even a transformer.
On the first drive two penalties killed the momentum that most of us thinking "Can this Ram team really pull off an upset?". And calling a timeout on 3rd down that everyone saw as a draw play only to call a draw play, WHAT! Did Spags think that McD was calling a fade, I just don't get it. You just have to wonder since the Ravens game that he is looking back over his shoulder now. Am I the only one who saw the confusion on the sidelines at times when the Rams had the ball?
Before I go into the next rant, my coaching is limited to having done a few Pop Warner teams, but! First thing I would do is switch Smith and Saffold at Tackle. Of course, each side has it's own level of task, but Smith has played both sides and Saffold would only increase his value if another direction is taken next year. Another option would be to put Smith at Tackle and Saffold at guard on the blind side and look for another Tackle (not Goldberg)on the right side. This would make Bell a reserve and since he really hasn't been on the field that much the last couple years anyways and may get a little more of the value of his contract out of him.
Next, move Cromwell out of the receiver coach and put him on the defensive side. I just don't see him making a difference. All I see is him smiling, not coaching. It's as if he's trying to learn McD's offense for his next gig. He was one of the best DBs when he played, that's his value as a coach, not that he played QB in college.
Now on to special teams, what the hell is going on here. Not even forgetting the coaches' name will explain what's going on here. Do you feel ignored because all the attention is on the offense (as it should)? Missed field goal, terrible punts, no return game, should I continue? You all should be put on notice for your jobs next year.
Ok, let's go back to the game. Sam Bradford, you have to be wondering also. You did miss on a couple throws, but the hurry-up really got you going. I'm sure having less grass stains on you uniform made your day easier other than hurting your ankle. Heal fast, cause having Feely starting will make the Raven game feel like a win. The running game is back along with a healthy Sjax and Cadillac and some decent blocking, gentlemen keep it up. Mr. Kendricks nice catch on first drive but your field presence needs a little more work, game could of been 31-3 on that no look pass, Magic Johnson your not. Hey, fewer dropped passes this week still didn't knock us out of #1, but better though.
"Paging Mr. Lloyd, paging Mr. Lloyd." Rumor has it that your a #1WR. Please, let it be so. Get 50+ catches this year wearing horns and you'll get rewarded, I'm sure. If you catch 7 out of 10 passes thrown to you this week, I will Blog to all those who want our #1 pick next year to be your replacement to SHUT-UP for the rest of the season as we have needs at other positions.
On to the good news. When a DT gets a sack who hasn't even smelt a QB all year, all I can say is GOOD JOB DEFENSE. Yeah, we gave up yds, but to limit the champs to 24 (told you the Rams wouldn't cover the spread)and nill in the second half, I'll take it! Even though the Animal Jr. deserves the game ball, it must not have been a easy choice. We still need to upgrade our DBs, but the players who were getting torched the last few games have improved their play. Even our offense outgained theirs. The fire is back on your side of the ball. And get this, we are facing Romo this week. Yes, there still is hope.
Etc. Etc. Etc.

I've never been one to open a can of worms but.....PT.1
With all the talk going on recently, I decided to walk the tight-rope and bring up one of the sore subjects that has gone on longer than the funk this team is in. Are you ready? The........wide-receivers. But draft gurus, go away, this will be about next years free-agents and (wishful thinking) possible trades. We might be able to sign one of these dudes if the money is there to do so. I was going to save this multi-position preview until later, but watching the other games this week made me a little brave to tread here. Admit it, the draft history of this organization has never really been good (lucky may be a better term)and as the current regime seems to think it is going to correct itself with a snap of their fingers. Nope, not going to happen. Since all the Ram's receivers are on the bubble, I've included them too. So, what are the other option(s)?
Trade(s)-
Rodney White is a good option with his team on the decline (good, but no longer elite), but what could we trade for him? Jason Smith or Banan, Salas and mid to late draft choice. I know, in my dreams. Someone please give me an option, Sam would have your eternal thanks with him at #1.
Brandon Marshall is another sports car with no engine to get him going. Too bad the FO hasn't grown a pair. He'd be wearing blue and gold this week.
Other signed top flight #1s are pretty much untouchables.
Get free agent from division opponent-
Ted Ginn, that's it. There isn't any other reciever I would kick the tires on. He's a number three, but could return punt and kicks better than what's on the team now.
Established #1s-
Reggie Wayne: very little injury history. Knows how to catch fire-balls and is a game changer.
Marcus Colston: funny how a superbowl puts you in the lime-light.
Vincent Jackson: doesn't want to play for us it seems, but other fans here like him too.
Up and coming #1s-
Bowe from K.C.: You won't have to move. Man, you will get a multi-year contract next year.
Brandon Lloyd: Rumors abound this year that may make this posting un-nessesary, but with this FO.
#2s-
Jordie Nelson: Easily a number one on this team. His YAC sure does pad Rogers stats. But who would ever want to leave a team that may win a few more superbowls.
Pierre Garcon: Small injury risk, but makes the tough catch in traffic. Need to sign him to 2+ years for reward to out-weigh the risk.
DX: Resign him FO, if he makes strides next year as he has this year, Jackpot!
Mark Clayton: If he comes back to 100% of what we saw last year, happy times for Sam.
Slot/#3-
Danny Amendola: Resign him, resign him and resign him. May your rehab reload you for next year.
Crayton from Dallas: Some-one that use to wear blue and gold may make him available to us next year.
Pettis: Don't trade him, or else!
Sims-Walker: If he cleans up his act, #3 is his only option next year.
Gibson: If he catches 50+ this year, he'll be back.
Curry: Special-teams gem.
Anybody else not mentioned that's on the team now will be traded, waived or cut. I relize this may be way too early for this posting. Of course, if the rams clean house, some of these guys won't come here unless Tony Dungy is Head Coach/GM and Jeff Fisher takes over the defense. But lighting a fire on the fan end now will be the only jolt I'll feel til 0 for becomes 1and.

Seems like these grades are on a downward curve
Welcome back to reality fellow Rams fans. Seems like having the week off didn't help our cause as we stand as the only win-less NFC team. After watching the 49ers dominate and the Sea-hawks make the needed plays to win this week also hasn't helped. At least the Cardinals loss to the Vikings gives me hope that we won't go 0-8.
Now comes the big IF. IF the rams can correct the blocking, penalty, catching, assignment, injury and Brain-fart issues. Wait, that's just too much to correct in one week. Let me re-phase that, let's call it Dutch-boy the issues. A good showing this week is possible. Don't get me wrong, we will be 0-5, but going down with fight will go a long way to win back respect and fans. It's the following games that could be interesting if the steps are in the right direction. Along with the Arizona game, the Cowboy and Saint games have possibilities based on their recent play. Would 2-6 save jobs, face and fans? We'll see!
This is my first quarter grades on every player on the roster. I weighed their play, experience and intangibles. Of course, if I missed something that would alter the grade, please let me know. Since most grades wouldn't be good on a A-F scale, I decided to go pass/fail. Players listed in alphabetical order:
Offense
Danario Alexander Pass Considering his limitations don't show at times and his ability to get open he gets a passing grade. His flop on a long pass play does stick in my memory though.
Billy Bajema Fail For a blocking specialist, he hasn't been special. I do remember a critical dropped pass on him too.
Jacob Bell Pass He gets a pass on the fact his number hasn't been called on the numerous o-line penalties. Not too bad on pass blocking. Needs to be on the field though.
Sam Bradford Pass Poor Sam, it's as if he was forgotten on Christmas day. With he has to play with, his toy box brings no envy.
Jason Brown Fail His grade has to be the best we've seen from him this year. With so much experience and less responsibilities, I don't get it!
Dominque Curry Pass I saw a posting showing him cut, WHAT? This guy is one the few who has done more than asked in his ROLE.
Harvey Dahl Pass Unless I missed it, he has no personal fouls this year. Come on Harvey, that is what the doctor ordered. It might be all we have to cheer about this year.
A.J. Feely Fail Your suppose to set a example for Sam, oh wait, you were on losing teams, maybe not showing how to lose would be better.
Brandon Gibson Pass Ah Brandon, everyone expects you to be Fitz, you're not, but you haven't hurt the team as others have.
Adam Goldberg Pass This one was very hard to grade. I guess not being on the field changes the curve for you.
Michael Hoomanawanui Fail Dude, do you want bionic replacements? It's that or get parted out.
Steven Jackson Pass Son, you really must of done something bad back in the day. How you've been punished for so long should only happen to hardened Criminals. You really kicked em all where it hurts, now some of the other leaders (Where or should I say who are you?) need to kick ass too.
Lance Kendricks Fail One of two ways to go Lance. Go home and have the neighborhood boys throw you the ball and really have to work to catch it. Or just relax and know the ball is going to be there on your break and look the ball in the whole way!
Brit Miller Pass Another role player that has gotten cheers this year.
Jerious Norwood Fail Disappeared after the first game. Get better fast, you need to be on the field to keep your job.
Austin Pettis Fail If only he wasn't in the dog-house (hence his grade) earlier. Looking forward to see more from him real soon.
Quinn Porter Pass Hasn't done much, but the reward of this find is a few games away.
Roger Saffold Fail Nothing to say Roger? A flashback to last year must be like a dream now, huh?
Greg Salas Fail Nothing like making losing into losing bad.
Mike Sims-Walker Fail Make the needed catches. Garrand must have been throwing pillows to you. Sam has a real NFL arm, doesn't he?
Jason Smith Fail Some-one had a good idea, take some of that big money you're making and take Coach Spags and the rest of your fellow linemen out to dinner to talk and solve the biggest weakness on this team now!
Stephen Spach Fail Tell me, has this guy done anything at all?
Cadillac Williams Fail So far, everybody only remembers that pass vs. the Giants. Not a good thing, you think?
Tony Wragge Pass Compared to all the bad from the o-line has done, he's been O.K. Way to step up!
Defense
C.J. Ah You Fail Your follow Sooner alum needs You to play.
Justin Bannan Fail Are you where you thought you would be? Here at 0-4 or signed with the Colts who are 0-5.
James Butler Fail When will you make a play again that I'd remember?
Chris Chamberlain Pass Not bad on special teams, but what else have you done?
Craig Dahl Fail Too bad you're not 3inches taller and 20lbs heavier, you would be a decent line-backer. That td pass allowed against the Giants will never be a teaching tool, I promise.
Gary Gibson Fail Your attempts at being a disappearing act have gotten rave reviews.
Josh Gordy Pass You get a pass because I thought you were related to Barry.
James Hall Pass Pretty soon experience alone won't get you to the Quarterback.
Al Harris Pass You're welcomed to the party as long as you can stay. That doesn't make you fell better does it?
Rod Hood Pass When you play, think your Rod Perry. At least we all can hope for that.
Josh Hull Fail Josh, if the two players ahead of you are playing for a contract next year, aren't going to get one at this point. Why don't you?
Bryan Kehl Fail The coaches must see something in you. Now we need to.
Justin King Fail Do really think a pick will make us forget your terrible play, NNNOOO!!!
James Laurinatis Pass Your a true Spartan Bro. It feels like a million arrows falling, yes?
Ben Leber Fail Actually a tough call to make, should of tried to call collect.
Chris Long Pass Al Davis has took his place among the football gods now. Your dad's old boss was always reminded of the Raider hay-day when you play, keep him proud!
Quintin Mikell Pass I know you're new to the team, but you could give a large boost to this team if you stepped up now, your leadership would be a welcomed site.
Brady Poppinga Pass Some will disagree with the grade, but I'd remind them it was much worst on your side last year.
Robert Quinn Pass I'm thinking if you played any last year, that experience might have you starting this week.
Fred Robbins Pass One more for the road Fred? Your play the last few years has been more than expected, Thank You!
Darrell Scott Pass Get well soon, looks like you'll be getting some more playing time when your back.
Eugene Sims Pass Some-one tell me why he's not on the field.
Darian Stewart Pass Didn't you dream about being a starter in the NFL. Didn't expect this did you?
Jabara Williams Pass Get him on the field coach, the reward you'll get from getting him experience is bank!
Specialist
Josh Brown Pass Our leading scorer, what? You can read his lips on the sidelines. "Catch the ball, hold on to the ball, ....he dropped the ball, Damn-it!
Donnie Jones Pass He's reading his contract looking for the clause for maximum punts in a year.
Jacob McQuaide Pass Read above.
Dear Mr. Kroenke
Dear Mr. Kroenke,
My name is Jayden, my grandpa is a Ram's fan. Wow, he has been following the Rams since 1972, did they even have airplanes then? The reason I am writing this this letter is to ask you to please make my grandpa happy and make his favorite team a winner again. I was so sad to see him while watching the football game against the Ravens. Isn't a Raven a bird? Anyways, he has not been in good spirits about football since before the game against the Sea-hawks last year. That's a bird too, huh? My mom has told me that when the Rams won the Superbowl, is that a superhero, cool, that he went everywhere wearing his Rams jersey and hat bragging all the time how great his team was. Now, she says that not even Grandma can make him feel better after the games this year.
When you took over this team, my grandpa said that you are going to bring this team back to the top again. Your success with your soccer and basketball teams is very respected he says. When he talks about how much money you have and how your going to spend it everywhere needed to fix it, I feel happy for him. He says that some of the other fans are unhappy about the possibility that you might move the team back to Los Angeles. But, if that is what is needed to make my grandpa happy and the Rams win, I'm happy too.
Grandpa also says that him and everyone else is not happy with Coach Spagnuolo right now. Could you also talk to him and find out what he needs to at least not be an embarrassment this year and spend some of that money. Make a trade when you can. When he says that this year has been a waste, I want to go take the trash out for him. Now, he says the some of the other fans are already talking about next years draft. Isn't there still games to be played this year?
So Mr. Kroenke, can you do all the things that I have asked. I love my Grandpa and want him to be happy. Can you do this, huh?
Your Future Ram's Fan,
Jayden

I know I'm Not the First to Say This!
As many of my friends continue to ask me, "What is wrong with the Rams this year?" My answer is a brief, cover all the points answer "What's not wrong with them this year!" While, this is a ploy to stop the hounding due to the fact that many of them are 9er and Raider fans. The taste of it all is bitter, causing me to spit, curse to myself and being tempted to just shut it down for the year. Though it all, I remember that there are plays during games this year that I still say good job, way to go and his play gives me hope. I guess that is what being a true fan does to you. That little green alien keeps telling me "Taosman, the force is strong in you, don't be consumed by the dark side."
Everyone, please stop the blame game-
Again, I'm with you on the disappointments of this year. The finger pointing, he's on the hot seat, he's not the player we expected, no true #1wr, etc., etc. etc. We're all as Rams fans trying to answer or solve (in vain I must add) the issues of failure. But in reality, (as this is my personal view) it's the organization as a whole.
A matter of balance-
There just isn't any-
The good (YIN). A general manager (many, many of you disagree) that has brought in upgrades this year in numerous positions. And while the draft doesn't get a passing grade yet, the talent is there. A second year QB (who will pick up the mantel from Warner in the next year or two) in a new offensive system with (what I feel is) too many added responsibilities. Comparisons stop because other QB in similar situations had much better talent around them. A solid but aging RB who in his now limited by all the short-comings around him, but always gives 110%. A improving receiving corps(I know all the dropped passes are unforgivable) that is an upgrade over last season that gives the QB more options to throw to.
A very good defensive line that has some age and will need upgrading in the middle soon. One of the best MLB in the whole NFL and some outside talent that is in the show me or go mode. One of the 10 best defensive backs period.
Also a very good place kicker, punter and serviceable special teams.
Sadly, that's it.
The bad (YANG). Where, oh where do I start? First, every other position not mentioned above. Coaching, head coach on down the line. Even if the players are the end result of plays, the current lack of discipline is causing the penalties and mistakes. There is no miracle pill for the 'Brain Fart' disease that has hit this team. Maintain the offense you're running and stay with it. Practice it, practice it and practice it. Fine every violation of the 'Brain Fart' disease during practice and games. This just has to fire up some of those abusers to correct it.
As I said in a previous posting, the four pillars is good in principle, but if their is no one to instill it, the whole idea of it has been a complete failure. This alone has blinded the decision makers to pick up certain players with risk involved that might have cut down this disaster in the making.
The head coaching has regressed! There , I said it. Should it cost him to be replaced? No, there is 3/4th of the schedule to be be played. If this team doesn't at least make noise in the NFC west this year, I will openly endorse a change. While he's a great defensive mind, he hasn't done enough on the other end to fix it.
Injuries have really hurt this year. Capable replacements are hard to find, I know, but some measures need to be done and soon.
Does September 23rd 2002 mean anything to any of you? After the jump.......
Fact or Fiction Filled Fridays
Is this the week the Rams break though with a win? While it's not the end of the world, (it might be the end the line for some of the players) a 0-4 start almost ensures that the Rams will have to win all their divisional games to have a chance at the playoffs. And if you look up and down this division, they're all saying the same thing at this point. This team is just not ready to take the next step right now.
I do think that they will win this week vs. Washington, 17-16. But one player who could change that is OJ Atogwe, how many times have ex-Rams come back to beat us in the past. He may make a play, good or bad to change the outcome.
The shame of it all!
As he looked at the scoreboard counting down 4 seconds, 3, 2, 1, 0............game over. Moving to remove his headset and handing it to an assistant his first thought is "Damn, this ass whipping is going to piss-off allot of people again." He then slowly walks across the field with a 'painted' smile greeting opposing players and finally seeing the head coach of the other team and shakes his hand, who then whispers to him.
"Coach, you've have a good core of players, just have to go one game at a time."
Grinning now, he replies. "Thanks, you guys came back strong this week and we didn't."
As he turns away to walk to his own locker room, the other coach says. "You're in the NFC West, so keep your faith."
He also turns to walk off the field as his offensive coordinator catches up to him and says. "Other than the Quarterback play, the rest of the offense was really off except on a few plays!"
Looking down he replies. "Yeah, this is really looking like a slow process in development."
The O.C. then adds. "We'll tone down the game planning this week and re-instill the basics again."
Taking off in a jog, he answers. "Sounds good."
Thinking to himself as he enters the tunnel. "I'm just have to do what my head coach did while I was in the "Big Apple' as an assistant, but in reverse. This pillar idea is good in principle, but if that doesn't translate to the field, it has to be changed!. I've been able to look on the field and be proud one minute, then disappointed for ten. Maybe, I need to be angry more like when that terrible penalty was called during the game. I know composure is one of my best traits, but if the players don't see more spark from me, then they won't have any."
Upon entering the locker room and looking around at the down-ridden faces of his player he says. "Men, we really stunk it up today. If your measure of play doesn't improve, HEADS WILL ROLL.........!"
Ravens vs. Rams- The big three points
Normally Vern N LC do this spot but they informed me that they are doing a Bass tournament (winners get lifetime supply of possum pie, one year of free BEER and a flow-bee) this week.
Many have said that the Rams should went for it on 4th down early in the four quarter and at the end of the game. This conservative play calling, while smart since the game was in hand for the Giants, can be criticized earlier in the game. Are they not practicing 4th and goal in practices? That 7 points early in the game changes the outcome I believe. Did that failed on-side kick last year against Detroit make Coach Spags so scared that 6-7 or 6-14 sounds like "We scored, so we won that battle". No, but if that train of thought continues, this will be a long season. Even when the division games start, winning 13-7 or 19-14 will instill no fear to whoever we may face in the playoffs if that were to happen.
As in my earlier posting "Showtime", I would like to run this offense most of the time. Leading to my first point:
1) Let McD control the play calling though-out the game until it is well in hand. Bradford will make larger strides in his development and improve the chemistry with the receivers. Throw more to the flats, especially this week. This will wind the defense early, then Spags can tell McD to let off the gas a bit. Just do it man!!!!!!
2) Be accountable. The two plays from last week that everyone has harped on should have RAMifacations. C.Willams and C. Dahl should be fined big-time for the simplest brain-farts. Bless all the players who consulted Caddy after the play, but he is veteran, shouldn't of happened. And maybe another player on the field could have yelled "LIVE-BALL". Dahl just froze as the Giants player did his job holding on to ball ball. If he was there, he needed to at least attempted to make the hit before seconds went by. Play till the whistle- this is taught to the peewees.
3)The lack of discipline. Some of the penalties were indeed home-field, but some were NOT! They are going to happen because of the human element, but again going back to point 2, make the ones who offend accountable. This is also true for the Caddy play, how many Ram players were chasing the play once the Giants picked up the ball?
Win or lose this week, if these things are at least somewhat corrected, progression to respectability might be achieved.
Bring on the "Showtime" Offense
Nothing except fake injuries can stop the fast pace Rams offense that I call "Showtime" in honor of the Lakers fast-break from the 80's. Why oh why would they stop running it during the game? Two top flight defenses weren't able to even to slow it down. Let's look at the reasons and changes needed to do so.
1) Conditioning- No, this is the NFL, run it with your best capable athletes. Make the needed personnel changes at the whistle.
2) Too much for a second year QB- Take the line calls away from Bradford when running this offense. Vary the play package ahead of time in the Film sessions and pregame meetings based on the type of Defense facing. Bradford is smart enough to make pre-snap reads and adjust routes.
3) Opposing teams will adjust their game planning against this. Coaching, let them earn their money and hope your players don't have brain-farts when adjustments are made.
4) No #1 Wide-out- Just tired of hearing this. Until or even after Clayton comes back, I don't foresee any major pick-ups or trades for a top flight receiver. There just isn't any player worth it now this far into the 2011 season and there are more important player issues that need addressing. Besides, this weeks game was a major improvement for that group.
Well, let's see how long the Rams run it against the Ravens. If the mistakes are cut in at least half from last Monday's game, I see this as a big chance for the step in the right direction this season.
Check this out!
There doesn't seem to be as many Rams this week as excited and opinionated as last. It is mostly from the beat-down against the Eagles I'm sure. Even the naysayers have been pretty much quite since Monday. Props do go out to the writers who keep pounding out the stories though, THANKS!
My visits out to Red-rock trailer park to see Vern N LC have been fun. I hope their not too offensive to anyone. Anyways, getting the view from not your run of the mill fan has been fun and educational. On that note, I wanted you meet this young man who I met coming out of a sports bar. He calls himself Sgt. Slam Ram. No matter how many times I asked him he wouldn't give me his real name. He kind of reminds me of my drill instructor when I was back in boot-camp. He wrote this and he wanted to do the video himself.....

Take a Moment for Reflection of 9/11
via images.mylot.com
Good day to my Ram brothers and sisters where ever you may be. September 11th is the first day of the 2011 NFL season and unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock, it’s also the 10th anniversary of one of the most important days in American history. It’s fitting that one of the games this week has the New York Giants playing the Washington Redskins, as both of those teams home cities were the most affected that day. I plan, as you should, to watch the pre-game ceremony for that game. I’m sure that whatever is planned will honor the events, the heroes and the tragedy of that day.
I remember when I was in high-school down in Southern California having a good friend that was from New York. He told me the main reason his family moved from there was to get away from a divided neighborhood full of hate and violence. I guess he hadn’t visited South-Central L.A. yet. Anyways, I was influenced to think that New York was filled with rude, uncaring and just plain mean people.
Then in the summer of 2005, I went to visit a friend who had relocated to New Jersey. I had planned to do and see what everyone normally does when visiting that area. I was about to find out that what had been planted in my mind about New Yorkers couldn’t have been more wrong. What I saw for the week that I was there was nothing less than a unified and caring people who would help each other and you with no loss of trust or color barrier. And when I visited the site of the South Tower, there was almost an eerie calmness that surrounded you. You could almost feel the life energies that may have been there.
So, to all the Rams fans in New York, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania and anyone else that lives there, our prayers, thanks and an great honor is owed to all of you.

Vern And LCs weekly Game Poll
Vern T. Sampsom L.C. Hopp
Vern "Hello ya’ll I’m Vern T. Sampson and I knows bout dat football"
LC "I’m L dot C dot Hopp and I thinks me knows football tooooo"
Vern "LC wat do you dink bout dat Eagles vs. Rams game on September 11"
LC "A good one fer sure!"
Vern "Rams sure do look good so farr"
LC "Yep, but dem Eagles are da dream team"
Vern "Naww, it’s more dem dreaming"
LC "Hahaha good one Vernnnn!"
Vern "Let’s talk bout da game"
LC "Speaking of Dreaming, I’m dinking those Rams are going to Kick some Eagles arse. I’m expecting dat #39 (22/129 2Tds) to run all (200+ total yds rushing) over dem wit those hogs on dat o-line. And dat Bradford (20-29/281 3Tds) is going to go all cowboy on dem too. Dem receivers (Kendricks- 4-79 1td, Danny A. 4-68, Sims-Walker 2-38 1td and Gibson 2-29 1td) are good toooo. Wooha, and dat De-fense (James L. 15 tackles, Long, Sims, Leber, Mikel and Quinn 1 sack each, Stewart 1int)." Score 35-14 Rams
Vern " Dey good fer sure, but fer REAL, dey will run (Sjax 27/103 160 total) but da Eagles do have da potential to limit the passing (Bradford 21-35 230 yds 2tds 1int). And dat Vick (19-29 201yds 2tds 2ints) will run a little bit (7-49yds 109 yds total) on da Rams. In the end doh, da Rams will win 21-17."
LC "Good point Vern, dem Eagles may do ENOUGH to stop da passing game of da Rams (190 yds 1 td 2 ints) and put up some decent passing (Vick 23-29 301yds 2 tds) and running (150yds total). On dem facts the Eagles will win 24-20."
Vern "And if yer listening to dem sports perts da Eagles will have no TROUBLE with dem Rams, beating dem on every front." Eagles 31-6
LC "Hey Vern, how bout some stuffed possum dat yer wife made?"
Vern "Sure, when were dun we can go finish hammering bottle caps on da front door."

The 2011 Season Forecast on Three Levels
Over the top:
Record 13-3
The carry over from the pre-season goes right into the early part of the regular schedule. Bradford throws for 300yds and 3 Tds vs. the Eagles and the defense forces Vick into two drive stopping turnovers. Quinn gets his 1st NFL sack just before half-time.
The only bleeps are losses to Green Bay, New Orleans and to Pittsburg on a last minute field goal after the division is clinched in a 40-7 rout at home vs. Arizona and completing the division sweep at home vs. S.F. 28-14. The combination of Jackson, Williams and Norwood is deemed “MONSTER X”
Bradford (4150 yds passing 69% comp 30 tds 8ints 2 rushing TD including game winning boot-leg vs. Ravens), Sjax (270 carries for 1390 yds 12 tds 39 rec for 309yds 2 tds), Kendricks(80 rec-1017 yds 10 tds) Dahl, Stafford and Mikel (12 ints) make the pro-bowl. Rams finish 2nd in total offense and 5th in total defense in NFL.
In the rematch vs. Green Bay at home in the NFC championship game, Rams struggle early falling behind 21-7 but holds Green bay to a FG in the second half and win 27-24 on Sjax 7 yd TD run with 33 seconds left and Long sacks Rogers to end game.
In the Super-bowl vs. Oakland (just kidding) no, New England, revenge is sweet with an exciting 29-28 victory. The Pats are 14 point favorites in which James L. is quoted as saying “we’ll see who is counted out” and goes out and sacks Brady with a 1,2,3 gesture and points at Belicheat. Sjax sets Super-bowl record by averaging 7.9 yds per carry on 21 for 166 yds and is MVP. The Tub (Albert H.) is ejected before half-time for throwing Dahl to the ground after being pan-caked at least 3 times by Dahl and the rest of the O-line. Brady is sacked a record 7 times and throws for 2Tds and 3ints. Bradford does have one pick-6, but controls the game with crisp play-action and goes 22-32 298 yds and 2 tds. Spags and staff is re-signed to five years.
Middle of the road:
Record 9-7
The tough early schedule is hard to overcome with a 2-5 record falling behind early in games but do beat Washington and the Giants. But the other teams in the division are also struggling and the Rams are only 2 games back. The running game is coming along and Bradford’s chemistry with wide-outs is a work in progress, but Kendricks is fifth in NFL receptions. After the loss to the Saints, Spags is quoted as saying “Now we go and win the division!”
On the first play of the game at Arizona, Quinn sacks and knocks Kolb out of the game and the Rams win 31-3. Losing to Pittsburg and at Seattle after division is won the week before at S.F. to end season.
The Rams finish top ten in Offense and Defense. Bradford, Sjax, And Kendricks also top ten. Kendricks and Long make Pro- bowl. Kendricks wins O.R.O.Y. and Quinn is runner-up for D.R.O.Y. Spags is re-signed for three year
Rams beat Chicago on Wildcard weekend but lose to New Orleans the following week.
Chopped:
Record 6-10
After starting the season 1-6 with the only win vs. the Redskins, the Rams manages to spilt the Division games and beat Cincy 30-17 (only game over 30 points). The lack of chemistry early on in passing game leads to 8 in the box almost every down. Running game is OK, but 3.5 per rush avg. is bottom 10. On defense, injuries and bad play on back end opens the passing lanes and the Rams get torched. Spags is fired and McD is hired as head-coach.
Poll for All time Rams Team
What a great win!! Coaching and outstanding defense made for what could be our biggest win of the last few years. I'm sure we're all still disappionted that the offensive play calling has yet to put a complete game together.Come on, every other team are makeing adjustments on both sides of the ball. Play calling needs to be more open than ever before to offset the level of talent. As good as Sjax is, he won't be able to carry this team every week. At least special teams play has continued to improve.
Could the Rams really win the Division?
Ok Guys please don't choke. Take a deep breath, a chug of water and relax. I would only say that as everything stands now. The other three teams in our divison are a mess RIGHT NOW!
SanFran, what can you say, everyone here will agree that they have the most talent in our division. The problem is a Old- school minded head-coach (run, run, pass and play defense) has the reins of a talented offense that is built to pass. If they ran a spread offense and they could be 2-2 or 3-1.
Arizona, lost one of the greatest QB EVER to retirement (I know, DAH!) and lost way too much talent on defense. And I think the coaching there is a little to be desired. They were just the most talented the last couple years.
Seattle has had a complete makeover that will take time (a.k.a.see RAMS). Great special teams play will a win a couple for them as well as their up and coming defense. But a fall-off of talent at some positions wiill cause them to lose more than they win.
So, if every team in our division continues to play as they have up to now, this is how I see it:
W L T
Rams 9 7 0
Arizona 7 9 0
Seattle 6 10 0
San Fran 6 10 0
If there is a change made in San Fran, I see a 1-2 game inprovement in their record, but don't hold your breath!
Injuries- Seems to be a Given
Rams fans do not dispair, across the NFL landscape injuries seem to be the headlines this year, even over the NE I'mnopatriots. Looking at most of the injury reports was almost like looking at a fantasy league roster. The continued increase in the size and speed are known to be the reason in this increase. Add to that the do or lose mindset is making canon-fodler out of most players while protecting the high priced players.
And while I am no doctor or have a quick fix answer, something must be done to protect all players. As a longtime fan, I have seen or read about some serious injuries in the past. But none more so than head trauma in the last few years.
We all love football, but when it starts to effect more and more players now, is it really worth it?
Making the big plays-Poll
Two close loses! The positives do out-weigh the negatives, but the most glaring thing though week two is not the injuries ( I know we've had more than our share), the penalties (a few few of those should have benn no-calls) or play calling. It's the big plays. Both the Cards and Raiders made them and the Rams didn't. Dropped interceptions, missed FGs and a fumble are really the difference between 0-2 and 2-0.
On the positive side, the growth of Bradford is really making the future bright as a Ram's fan. The mind-set so far from the coaching staff is not to put too much pressure on him to win games. We did see him get a little flustered, but he responded well at the end. And while his stats aren't great, it's still many times better than what we saw last year.
Overall, there is much room for improvement, but baby steps are being made. Shumar's play calling is still much to be desired. It seemed that the Raiders were able to see what was coming in the second half. Even with a rookie QB, I didn't see enough attempts downfield compared to what what the norm is in the NFL. It was nice to see Sjax back to his old-self again, KEEP IT UP! The Raider switching QB at half-time was a suprise, but the adjusts made after the first drive were impressive. I think every team that plays the Raiders in Oakland catches the penalty bug, but the disipline we saw in the first game must return.
