Poor reference I know, but the current Hot Stove thread is rather big at this very moment, so I took the liberty of making one if that's all well and fun:

Teh Blockbuster- Cliff Lee to the Mariners, Roy Halladay to the Phillies, Prospects(Namely Kyle Drabek) to the Jays.

I can comprehend this trade from the Jays side and especially the Mariners side, but why would Philadelphia do this? I understand that Lee was a lefty, and due to their LHP talent in the rotation, he was expendable, and the fact that Hamels was bound to rebound. However, that guy basically carried that rotation on his back going 4-0 with a bit over 1.5 ERA. It's baffling to me, especially that they give up the deal-breaker of the last trade deadline for swapping pitchers! There's also the argument that Lee will sign elsewhere after a year while Halladay is there for 3 or 4 more years. They gave Halladay 20 million a year. Are you telling me that Lee would shy away from that?

The Jays grab prospects, namely Kyle Drabek and Michael Taylor(Taylor is being flipped for our beloved Brett Wallace), which is building for the future, and the Mariners give up a group of prospects that aren't really that pressing. They didn't even have to give up Morrow or Saunders! Amazing trade for the Mariners, despite the fact that they need offense more than they need pitching (Lead the AL in ERA as a staff). I know that Halladay didn't gain the greatest support here, Carpenter and Wainwright made sure of that, but still, he was a considerable option for the Cardinals at the deadline, and deserves some mention.

Red Sox spend about 100 million-Sign John Lackey and Mike Cameron

5/85 seems like a bit much for Lackey, but that's still a hell of a rotation. There was also some support for him. Cameron also was signed for 2/15.5. Not a bad deal by any means, but this likely spells the end of Bay in Boston, which would move or so make Matt Holliday signing with us more likely yeah? If I were the Yankees, I would be a little bit frightened at their most hated neighbors.

Well, I know there's tons of things going on right now, and I am sure that Matt Holliday chatter is very wanted right now, so let her rip :).

Trade Drawer: The answer is the Clippers!?!?!?

It is widely known, and the Clippers have even admitted, that Griffin is going to be the #1 pick in the NBA draft. They have a problem, in a sense. Their starter, Al Thornton, averages about 17ppg, with 5 rebounds to boot. Griffin seems to be too small to work the PF spot, so if they want to move him to SF, Thornton may either be a bench player, or maybe have to be traded.

The question: Is Thornton the answer for the Blazers?

Draft Profile

A super-athletic forward who plays with great intensity. Is an excellent perimeter defender who can bust out for big games offensively. Has developed his upper body strength well and possesses an NBA ready body. He does a great job of getting rebounds when he’s not in perfect of position; thanks to his leaping ability and foot speed. Has shown some shot-blocking ability this season. Has an explosive first step which allows him to blow by defenders when he faces up and converts easily around the basket. His jumper has 3 point range. Needs to work on his ball handling skills, rebounding, and consistency with his jump shot.

I think that I like this trade for the blazers definitely:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=noz2ct

Now, if we add some second round picks to that, or maybe our first, i think that we can even out the trade to make it more appealing to the Clippers. Jordan is a high upside big man that can play the backup PF for us, and perhaps develop into a solid center if Oden happens not to.

What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?

 	<fieldset class="poll-box">
  <legend>Poll</legend>

Would Thornton be a good asset for the Blazers?

76%

Nay, Batum/Webster will hopefully be more valuable to this team along the road.

140 votes

Yay, Thornton adds a 3rd scoring option that the Blazers seemed to lack last season.

Outlaw=6th man of the year?

Now, to start this off, the only reason that Outlaw should be considered is the fact that Ginobili has been missing extensive time all season, hurting his chances of winning this prestigious award, but let's get to the argument.

Now, as many of you have noticed, Outlaw has been on an absolute rampage lately. In his last 11 games, he is averaging 16.6 ppg, 5.7 rebs, along with 39% from 3. Now many of us, myself included, have questioned Outlaw and his value to the team, but if he keeps up this production at a steady rate, could he be a contender for 6th man?

Now, for this year, he is averaging about 13 ppg, and 4.9 rebs a game. Not very impressive numbers to look at, but will his late half numbers sway the masses?

 	<fieldset class="poll-box">
  <legend>Poll</legend>

Should Outlaw be a contender for the award?

14%

Yes, Outlaw is a contender, and probably a favorite for the award.

21 votes

74%

Outlaw is a contender, but there are better options to choose from.

109 votes

9%

Outlaw is not a contender for such a reward.

14 votes

2%

Who's Travis Outlaw? He an Actor?

3 votes

147 votes

    | Poll has closed
