San Antonio ATH goes blue

Dimitri Flowers ended his recruitment today as the San Antonio, TX native chose the Broncos. He had a big week, pulling in offers from Nevada, Colorado, Houston, and Boise State, but chose the blue after his latest offer came in. I couldn't find any youtube clips of this kid, but he has several videos on, and just a few minutes watching those videos will show him playing OLB, returning punts for touchdowns, lining up in the backfield as a RB and on the line as a WR, showing the speed to burn a defense downfield and beat the defense around the edge on a sweep, making one handed catches over his outside shoulder, and powering through the point of contact. Scouts has him listed as a TE, which would certainly fit his size, at 6'3 225. I don't know yet where the Broncos see him playing, but one thing is for certain, Coach Pete is getting himself one heck of an athlete. Here's the link over to his hudl page.

Talk about an OKG...

According to Coach Kinsey's father, the coach received a visit from some blue and orange clad folks. Sure looks a heck of a lot like incoming freshman Center Andrew Tercek standing behind the coach. Huge shout out to Andrew to taking the time to visit the coach before joining the squad this summer. Definitely an OKG.

Breeja update

For those that have asked about Breeja Larson's swimming endeavors, Breeja is currently swimming in the 2013 NCAA championships in Indianapolis.. This morning in the 100 Breast she qualified first...

Swimming Update

I had a few folks ask a couple of weeks ago how former and future Boisean Breeja Larson had been doing since the Olympics in August, and I vowed to do a better job at keeping people in the loop. This is a very busy time in the college swimming season as conference championship meets are just finishing up and final preparations for the NCAA Championship meet in March are being made. For Breeja, her SEC conference championship meet was this past week at her home pool in College Station, TX. In the end she walked away with conference championships in the 100 breast, 200 breast, and the 400 medley relay, the 100 breast coming in NCAA and American record fashion and the 200 breast and 400 medley relay setting new SEC records. While these are great accomplishments (enough to garner the SEC Swimmer of the Year award, upsetting Olympic medalists Elizabeth Beisel and Allison Schmitt) the real challenge remains at NCAA's March 21st-23rd in Indianapolis. Here she will attempt to defend her NCAA crown in the 100 Breastroke, a race she hasn't lost in nearly 2 years, and take the crown in the 200 Breastroke, a race that she has finished 2nd and 3rd in the last two seasons, but since has set the American and NCAA record. Above is a link to a small writeup about Breeja's record setting 100 Breast at conference, and I will try to post some links come NCAA time on how to follow her action in Indy. The support for Breeja has been awesome and hopefully she'll have a few more pieces of hardware to bring home in a month's time.

Gavins, on the pairing with Taylor: "We plan on being the best, and that’s what we’re going to be — the best in the Mountain West, the best in college football. It is what it is. Anybody got a problem with it, any receiver, just come see us." A refreshing bit of utter confidence coming out of fall camp

Coach Pete on the Broncos first scrimmage (closed) of the fall on Saturday. Statements were vintage Petersen, "we're not where we need to be"... "we've got a long way to go". He did name Deon'tae Florence as the "camper of the day" citing a couple of interceptions for the Sophomore CB. Next Saturday can't come soon enough!

Larson brings home a Gold

The former and future Boise resident flashing her newly earned gold medal in the 4 x 100 medley relay in the London 2012 Olympics

Alright Nuggie Nation.... Think fast thoughts!!

This member of Bronco Nation is headed to London tomorrow to cheer on team USA, and more specifically, Breeja Larson. Breeja is a former Centennial Patriot and will be representing the stars and...

Reporting from Omaha

Many of you know me as the annoying guy in Texas that posts about swimming, but check out this tweet from the BSU "BUS driver"... I knew I loved that guy for a reason! The former Centennial Patriot swims tonight on NBC in the 100 Breast Semi's for anyone who is interested!

BUS driver with a good write-up on upcoming U.S. Swimming Olympic Trials

As I'm heading to Omaha this week to watch my girlfriend compete in the United States Olympic Trials, this article really hit home for me. Swimmers are incredible athletes that deserve a little more publicity, even the ones that finish in the dreaded 3rd spot.

Titus rebounding quite nicely

Our fellow SBNationers over at Pride of Detroit put this article together to show just how impressed they are with the former Bronco. Coach Pete must have called him up and gave him the "Listen here.." talk!

I think we might have to change the name to Bronco Nation(s)

Leon Rice's global invasion continues... signing one of Serbia's top young talents for next year's squad. Love where the program is headed and hope Leon continues to seek top talent wherever it may be.

We get another home grown Bronco!!

WR Jackson Reed out of Timberline High School in Boise will join the Bronco's in the fall as a Walk On. At 6'4 215, he could play as a WR, or could put on some weight and line-up at TE. I'm proud to be a Bronco for many reasons, but nothing gets me more giddy than to see the success of our walk ons. Hopefully this young man can be the next.

Another Swimming Post??

Some of you may remember me posting a couple of weeks ago about my girlfriend, Breeja Larson, breaking the NCAA record in the 100 breastroke. She lived in Boise for a few years and dragged this Bronco fan down to Aggieland with her. Her lifetime goal has been to swim her signature event, the 100 breastroke, in a time of 57.75. When told that this time was near unattainable as it would be an American record, and quite possibly a world record, she didn't waiver. And last night, at the NCAA championships in Auburn, AL, she was named NCAA champion by swimming a 57.71, breaking the Auburn Pool, NCAA, U.S. Open, and American record in the event. Tonight though, she goes for the title and the record in the 200Br at about 6:30MT. ESPN3 and CBSSports will be broadcasting the race. If your Saturday night finds you sitting at home, tune into either one of the links I post below to cheer on the former Boisean as she goes for gold again.

Hey... there's room for one more!

Boise State gets a late addition to the 2012 recruiting class, and it's fourth Offensive Lineman. Archie Lewis (6'4 255lbs) from Rancho Cucamonga High School committed today and will grayshirt and join the team in 2013. Looks to be a good pulling blocker which might be critical if our offense undergoes any changes with a more mobile QB. Also interesting in the article is the first mention that Mario Yakoo is expected to grayshirt as well. That's the first I've heard of that. Lastly, I have noticed that Boise is extending a lot to kids from Rancho Cucamonga HS. lists three of their defensive players that Boise State has offered scholarships to for next years class. Apparently we know the coaches have been busy in that area.

Every day a proud Bronco... today though, I'm also a proud Aggie

I realize that this has nothing to do with Boise State football, but I have to get on my soapbox and brag here. I am a Boise boy born and raised, but when my girlfriend of four and half years decided two years ago to sign a National Letter of Intent to swim for Texas A&M over the hometown Broncos, I developed a deep hatred for everything maroon and white. Last August, reluctantly, I decided to make the move to College Station, TX to help her achieve her goals. It's been a long 6 months away from Boise. But today, the former Centennial Patriot made history, breaking the NCAA record in the 100yd Breastroke with a time of 57.92, the only NCAA woman to ever break the 58 second mark, and the second fastest time ever posted by an American woman. Today, I, like Kellen, am standing at least 1/4 inch taller in my shoes. Hoping to be back in B-Town sooner rather than later, but until then, I will be repping Boise State hopefully even as far as London this August.

Jack Fields Senior Highlight Video.... need I say more?

Remember when everyone was so upset that he took Davien Payne's scholarship... Silly Bronco fans.

Who said we can't compete with the big boys?

One of my favorite things to do when looking at the stable of young talent that Chris Petersen has lured to the blue is to look at all of the other offers that those recruits can boast. I know...

Chadd is in Mobile covering this weeks progress of our boys from the blue. Tune in to ask any questions you might have.

Koetter gets job with the dirty birds

This January has been known as the great exodus of Bronco Coaches. Ex-Bronco Dirk Koetter felt left out and now lands in Atlanta for their vacant OC position, seemingly turning down an offer for the same position on Nick Saban's staff. Atlanta's offense has a lot of the right tools to be one of the premier offenses in the league, it will be interesting if this former Bronco can take them there. writeup on Jack Fields

Cant wait to see him and Ajayi in the backfield together!

Jack Fields continues to make it look easy

An 18.8 ypc average is pretty decent, right? I know that Ajayi made an All American team at the end of his senior season, and I gotta believe this kid is going to make it two years in a row.
