Auburn Saga/Cam Newton/Cheating

This is an extremely fascinating read. Warning: It's freaking hella long. It's tough to verify much of this, though much of it is attributed to mainstream media outlets. But it paints a picture of corruption at Auburn that college athletics has likely never seen. Some people could be looking a jail time over all of this. And some speculation that AU could be booted from the SEC and given the death penalty. I highly doubt that, but man what a story. Even if this is not true, hats off to the guy who took an absurd amount of time to research and document the timelines.

Post Game Thoughts...If there are any left to share. And OSU v. Texas gigglefest

We are not a good team, and I am pretty sure we all realized that about a month ago. The play calling just simply can't be explained in a way that makes any sense at all; the defensive fundamentals...

Hawkins out at CU

The long-awaited firing of Dan Hawkins at Colorado has taken place tonight. I'm sure the former pirate will come up in a conversation or two. Would be a good fit, actually. Kind of a quirky town, kind of a quirky coach. And it's a chance for him to get into the Pac-10 where he always wanted to be. Doesn't get him a lot closer to the coast, but it gets hiim in the game - should they look his way...

Texas Tech 24 Missouri 17 Post Game CELEBRATION Thread

Great game by our defense against the pass and Potts earned a few stripes tonight. Could this win be a turning point for this beleagured staff? Let's hope!

Torres, Franks done for the year

Will post a link shortly when I get a bit more time, but Alex Torres and Jacoby Franks are done for the year with injuries suffered Saturday.

Best Ever

I'm a tad bored with the 11 a.m. games, so to pass the time I thought I'd try to figure out who were the best ever college football players at a few positions. I've come up with my top three at...

Tech WRs in the NFL

Was curious how our three WRs were doing in the NFL this year since I don't pay a ton of attention to the pros. I was quite impressed with how our young Amendola is doing. I like the fact he has...

Tech Baseball Releases Schedule

Texas Tech released their 2011 baseball schedule. We have 33 of 56 games at home, including a super-long 18-game homestand to open the season. Fairly optimistic this year that we can get 32-35...

Batch Comments

Baron Batch had a few interesting things to say in the Monday press conference...Excerpts below:   “I think we’re an extremely talented offense. We have some guys who are young, which is not an ...

TV Channels for Tech v. OSU

Guys, the Fox channel that will carry the game Saturday is in limited cities and with limited carriers. Hope you are one of the few who can enjoy the game!

Yeah, I know we have a game against okie light this week, but I was killing some time at TexAgs. It's great fun, really. Aggies have a unique view of life. Makes me exceedingly happy to not be one...

A few thoughts

Lots and lots of talk this week about how Tech won't win more than four games this year, six if we get really lucky. But I have a strong feeling we boot-stomp Baylor this week. Losing to ISU was a...

TTU Grads rank VERY well

So, we're all probably looking for some great news. Well, it's not football related, but Texas Tech was ranked in the Top 25 of schools whose graduates are the most prepared for the work force after college. This was compiled by recruiters nationwide and published in the Wall Street Journal. Maybe now the Aggies will give credit where credit is due. And yes, congrats to Aggie grads for their number two ranking nationally.

Way too early (or is it?) predictions

Okay, I've wrapped up my day at work  a bit early, but don't want to fight traffic so I figured now was as good a time as any to post my game-by-game predictions for the 2010 season. None of us...

Hairbrained idea(r)

Okay, so CU and now NU have left the Big XII. The assumption being the Big XII south members minus Baylor will venture off and join the Pac10. Great. I'm for this for the most part. But, just for...

USC Jr.s, Sr.s can transfer without sitting out

This is HUGE, potentially. I don't foresee a ton of defections, but if more than a handful leave, this could kill USC's program for a decade. Tech relevance: Go get some, Tuberville!

Uh-ohhh...possible kink in the hose

This would not be good...at all...

Report on USC

Not Tech related, but wow, is this a fascinating read! Pete Carroll likely loses his national titles (BCS is considering), Bush likely loses Heisman...does Tuberville get the vacated national title from Auburn years?? Would be cool...

Bettis to Colorado in Second Round

P Chad Bettis was selected in the second round of the MLB draft today. Great job! A couple of more Red Raiders may go later today or tomorrow.

S. Mandel hates Mike Gundy

I'm sure some of you guys may have already read this from Stewart Mandel's mailbag on si.com today, but it struck me as unusual. Below is a question posed by a reader regarding the lack of...

Craig James Cries at Church

So, CJ goes to one of the largest churches in the metroplex and cries about he did no wrong. Meh. Fuss, cuss and discuss.

Super Conferences

With the spring game behind us and very little new bites likely to come out of the athletic office for several months, I thought a good barroom conversation would be to chat about the idea of super...

Sheffield out rest of the spring

Per Pete Christy tweet...S. Sheffield re-injured his foot and will be out for the remainder of spring practice. Crap-ola. Opens a huge, wide, gaping door for Potts to really take the reigns of the...

Tech Alumn New GM CEO

Ed Whitacre has served as the interim CEO and had that label removed today. Not sports related, but a nice bit of pub for a prominent Tech grad.
