I'm Eli Whiteside by The (Not) Killers
A quick song parody video about Eli Whiteside taking over for Buster Posey across the Bay in the wake of this week's collision. Pretty funny.

Rosenthal: Geren's Seat Heating Up
We at AN like to lambaste our manager regularly--people discuss Geren's bullpen management, pinch hitting choices, L/R matchups, and everything else a manager controls, but in Rosenthal's article posted today, he adds an element us homers might not consider as often: has he been given a good enough team to hold him truly accountable?
Charlie Sheen Takes BP with CoCo; and no, that's not a euphamism. Another reason to follow CoCo's Twitter feed.
Ken Rosenthal is not impressed with the Angels' offseason moves
He mentions the Downs signing (obviously) and how they missed out on Carl Crawford, etc.
Baseball: Pass It On
What a beautiful Sunday it was. Spent the morning putting up Christmas lights, watched some football, then headed out to the local baseball field on the urging of my almost ten year-old son. As we warmed up our arms, we noticed the only other person at the park was observing us intently.

Kurt Suzuki: Worth Looking Up To
Months ago, my nine year old son sent a letter to his favorite ballplayer: Athletics' catcher Kurt Suzuki. After a few days he began asking me when I thought Kurt might write back. I assured him that Kurt was probably really busy with his workouts, games, and travel, and that he would write back when he had time.
Days turned into weeks, and after a few months, my son stopped asking when Kurt would write back. "Maybe your letter got lost in the mail, buddy," I told him.

These YP sidebars are giving me a headache
I'm all for SB Nation making money--I love a number of the sites including AN, but these yp.com ads are really affecting my ability to read the blogs. Maybe it's not bad on a narrow screen, but at 1680 x 1050 it's seizure-inducing. Just had to vent. Thanks.
Are you going to be a San Jose A's Fan?
With the announcement of an architect selection, Lew Wolff and crew appear to be on a glide path to San Jose. As a guy living in Alameda, my decision to be an A's fan has a lot to do with proximity, so I can't help but wonder how many A's fans will follow the club down 880.
I am not saying I will write the A's off, but I will certainly not be as enthusiastic a fan for a San Jose-based squad. What are your thoughts?

Does keeping A's make cents for Oakland?
As attendance at the Oakland Coliseum dwindles and the A's await a decision from Major League Baseball about the future of the franchise, some — those who do not bleed green and gold — may wonder: What does a major league team bring to a city?
Not much, at least financially, experts say.
New Dugout Chat featuring Braden and A Rod
Good stuff. If you're not up on the Dugout, get familiar and check out the archives. Hilarity ensues...

Nick Swisher likes to build Legos and play Wii
What a goofball. I wish he was still an A.
Santiago "Jairo" Casilla having visa issues
One can only imagine the visa issues are related to his true name and birth date. The best part about Casilla not being an Athletic is that he's a Giant.
Team Health report from Baseball Prospectus
Non-paid abridged version, but still mildly interesting, especially for those who enjoy banging on the A's trainers.

Best (kid friendly) Pre-Game Food & Booze?
Excuse the newbie question, but weigh in with your opinions if you would be so kind. If it was just me, I would be heading to the Firehouse, but...
I'll have a pair of 9 year-olds with me for this Saturday night's game, and I'm looking for a good place near the tank that has kid-friendly grub for them and quality beers for me. Your input is most appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and go Sharks!

A's Invite 19 Players to Spring Training
From mlb.com:
Arizona Fall League sensation Grant Desme, former Angels third baseman Dallas McPherson and ex-Reds reliever Marcus McBeth are among 19 players extended invitations to Spring Training on Monday by the A's.
McPherson, 29, missed all of the 2009 season with back problems, but he has the most extensive Major League experience of the six free agents among the 19 signed to Minor League contracts by Oakland.
