RPiA Mini-Cast #5 - Robbie Ross

An interview I did with Rangers LHP prospect Robbie Ross during spring training. Ross was picked in the second round last year despite warnings of signability. They were able to get the deal done for waaaaaaaaaay above slot.

He's currently in Spokane with a 4-3 record, and ERA just over 2.50 and a WHIP of 1.20.

Inside Corner - Interview with Ron Washington

Texas Ranger Manager Ron Washington stops by the Corner to talk with Evan Grant about the team's defensive improvement and how many games he thinks it is responsible for the team winning this season. He also makes a statement that I'd never heard, but I thought was interesting "defense doesn't go in slumps."

Also, check out Wash's reaction to Evan mentioning he watched a game from the stands one night. You just know there was a smart-a** comment ready to come out, but self-restraint won out in the end!

Hey kids! Here's a short interview I did with 2006 first round pick (12th overall) LHP Kasey Kiker. Kiker's loss of velocity in 2008 was well documented, but he seems to be putting it back together thanks to his health, his command and his off-season conditioning. His ERA is 2.74 and WHIP is 1.24.

I did this one back in spring training when there were still a lot of questions about his recovery yet to be answered. Still yet to be answered for the current Frisco RoughRider: is his long-term future as a starter or out of the pen?

Hey kids! It's time again for another video from Evan Grant of D Magazine's Inside Corner. Today, we talk with everyone's newest favorite Ranger pitcher Tommy Hunter whose outing Tuesday night against the Red Sox was a touch more successful than his outing last year in Boston.

He also talks about the hours, and hours, and hours he spent in OKC developing his cutter which he has used quite effectively since being called back to the Big Club.

Well, here we are. The absolute WORST day of the year. Unless you are in to poker or the WNBA, there's not a whole lot on. Sure you could spend the time with family or friends - but that's overrated. To help bridge the gap between now and Friday here's an Inside Corner interview with David Murphy.

You may remember Murphy did not start the season so hot, but he seems to have turned things around considerably. Here, he talks about what he did to get out of that slump and what he learned from it.

I talked with him in May when he was still with the Hickory Crawdads (he's been promoted to the Bakersfield Blaze - I'd like to think based on his strong interviewing skills).
