Rumour has it that I was raised by wolves (which would explain my odd behaviour), but I know this not only to be not true, but also highly offensive to my parents, who may appear to be wolves to the untrained eye, but are actually just a rare breed of homo sapiens known as Madeirans.

My first goal in life is to learn as much as possible from the creatures (human or otherwise) I meet, the plants I have the opportunity to stop and observe, art in all its forms, the food I get to eat everyday, and every sunrise I'm fortunate enough to witness while simultaneously living in the most remote place I can find, and document this learning experience in any way I see fit, whether through the medium of words, music, film, photography, or (admittedly pretty bad) painting and sculpture. Well, you can't be good at everything. Anyway, hopefully by the time I've died, I'll have managed to weave all my disparate stories together to show just how rich, complex, and varied life on Planet Earth can be.

Also, while we're on the topic of me, I'd just like to bring to your attention the fact that I'm awesome, and if you don't like it, too bad, because that's just how I roll. B-)

Pick the Song that will Annoy Tempestuous Binary for the Entire Avs Season

My girlfriend and I spent a long weekend travelling around the Netherlands, so I missed the last pre-season game.  Halfway through the trip, I managed to get on a computer (I don't carry a...

MFW a website says they've been praising the Varly trade all along, and I check their archives and realise they've been bagging it at every turn. Although this is annoying, I'm hoping to see more of it in the coming season (because it'll mean the Avs are winning), and thank goodness for the Wayback Machine, because no matter how quick everyone will be falling over themselves to edit the past, none will be able to hide from the truth.

I think my favorite team, just like a lot of others', was Detroit. I watched their games against Colorado, and it left an impression. I had two favorite teams: Colorado and Detroit. Detroit, first of all, because of the Russians. It was nice to watch Fedorov, Fetisov.

Evgeni Malkin on his favourite teams. Just found that interesting, fwiw.

NHL 2002. 5 games into the 2003 season. Signed Sacco for lulz. "Drafted" David Jones. Foppa destroying opposing goalies, even on the higher difficulty. Jones had 4 goals and then got injured twice in the fifth game. Now he's out for 2 weeks. FML. Even in a videogame, he can't stop injuring himself.

New Nashville Predators logos. All I can say is, "Nooooooooooooooo." I always liked the old logo and word font; now it's more minimalist with a new shoulder patch that looks like a Dragon Ball Z guitar pick.

Owen Sound Attack beat Windsor Spitfires, take series lead

3

The Attack won 6-4, thanks to a late empty-netter that put the game away. Joey Hishon was a +1 with 2 assists that came on the power play. Owen Sound lead the series 2-1.

Owen Sound Attack beat Windsor Spitfires to take Game 1

3

Owen Sound won 8-1. They started rusty, but soon found their form, with the game-winning goal coming at at 19:51 of the 1st period. On the PK, Garrett Wilson dropped the puck to Joey Hishon, who wired one past goalie Jack Campbell for his 1st of 2 goals.

Owen Sound Attack win game 3

1

The Attack beat the Plymouth Whalers 4-1 to take a 3-0 series lead. As we've all come to expect, they peppered the Whalers, going up 4-0 by the end of the 2nd. In the 3rd, the Whalers fought back, getting a goal while dominating in shots, but it wasn't enough as the Attack put themselves on the cusp of advancing to the next round. Joey Hishon was held without a point. Can't make any specific comments as I missed most of the game.

Joey Hishon #1 on OHL plays of the week

2

He also tallied an assist in the Attack's 3-2 OT win tonight. The Attack were down 1-0 at the end of the first, but peppered the Knights from then on, finishing the game with 53 shots to 23.

Coaches, Your Players are Watching

Brilliant article on the effect coaches have on their players, and specifically how (BJs coach) Scott Arniel lost a game by losing his cool on the bench.

Dan Bylsma’s System sounds a bit like Joe Sacco's

5

There are a few prerequisites that should be posted somewhere for prospective players to heed if they want to succeed in HCDB’s system: - You had better be fairly fast. There are some exceptions, but not very many. - You had better be willing to hit. No drive-by forechecks. - You had better be willing to work your tail off.

It's easy to say "he sucked" or "he was awesome", but this is the best analysis of his performance I've read.

For the Pessimist, Some Perspective

I went into this season optimistic.  Even though our Pro Bowl LT tore his patella tendon in Draft Weekend, our OLB that led the league in sacks in '09 was put on IR, and two of our draftees had...

Niklas Svedberg: the Sean Avery of Goaltenders

"See how he opens båsdörren AFTER he closed it and he does absolutely NOT because he believes that someone will change, but for it to go to hell for Jens Westin." Although Puck Daddy takes the whole affair lightly, this isn't so much lightly mischievous as outright dirty with the intent to cause trouble.

"Kyle Orton is 15 of 20 for 315 yards on play-action passes in his last two games. This is obviously unique because an offense generally needs an effective running game to sell play action. But in this case, it's yet another reason that we may need to step back and start looking at Orton as a near-elite quarterback."

Something has been hanging around the back of my mind ever since Perrish Cox was taken with the 137th pick of the 2010 Draft. Why did he fall, and will this reason resurface with the Broncos?

49ers trade AWOL Balmer to Seahawks.

Unbelievable. I was just reading that the 49ers were trying to get someone to bite on a trade before they release him, and someone actually bites. Good on San Fran for getting value out of nothing, as for the Seahawks, well...
