Despite Monday's report that the Dolphins are interested in trading for quarterback Carson Palmer, Bengals president Mike Brown offered his second strong public pronouncement that he has no plans to trade him
"Carson is our principal option. ... We don't know how that is going to end up," Brown said. "It's a very big question to be answered. If answered right, our chances will be pretty good. We'll try to get it answered right ... I hope he comes back and plays the way he can play. I think he's a top quarterback. I haven't talked to any other team about him and I have no plans to trade him."
"I've seen any number of players who at one point didn’t want to re-enlist, come back, and play, and be quite happy about it," Brown said. "It just depends how it goes. As far as getting value, I don't see any opportunity to get what I consider value and having said that, it doesn't make any sense to look to trade. It only makes sense to wait and hope Carson comes around."

" The Bengals tried to re-sign cornerback Johnathan Joseph and running back Cedric Benson before the lockout, but found the prices extravagant and now hope they'll be able to win both when they go on the free-agent market.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid, who says his club is listening to offers, indicated Sunday the Bengals haven't inquired about backup quarterback Kevin Kolb.

Asked at the league meetings if he thought the Bengals would be interested in the man with one year left on his deal backing up Michael Vick, Reid said, "I don't know. We're getting quite a little bit of play on it, so we'll see."

Cincy Jungle Trade for Tebow?

Wishful thinking? I know right. With Carson Palmer's trade demands, the Bengals are in the "looking for a new QB club" these days. Most of us Bengal fans are assuming that Cincinnati wont go the QB route with the number four overall pick. So that leaves us with the possibilities of signing a veteran free agent, making a trade, or promoting from within. There are not to many "good" free agent quarterbacks to be looking at, and promoting from within just does not seem logical, so that leaves us with possible trades to get a new starter in stripes. I have heard conflicting reports that Denver does not want to have Tebow as the franchise guy and could just go with Orton once again as the starter for the 2011 season.

Source: MSNBC.com

Most members of the pre-Elway regime in Denver are "looking to distance themselves from" the decision to draft Tebow last season. Lombardi calls quarterback "a huge need" and suggests game-manager Kyle Orton could remain the starter for another season. It's hard to believe the new regime has already turned the page on Tebow after his promising play in three late-season starts, but Lombardi is a trustworthy source. Tebow can no longer be considered a no-brainer as the future in Denver, much less the 2011 starter.

This gets us to the questions of what would it take to get Tebow in stripes? Would a straight up trade of Palmer for Tebow be fair for both sides? Would Cincinnati have to throw in picks? Would Denver have to throw in picks? Can we trade Palmer elsewhere for picks and use those towards a Tebow trade? Would we even want Tebow? There are all kinds of possibilities but I just wanted to throw this out there. I personally would like to have Tebow over here with the new offensive coordinator that promises to run the ball more and use the short to intermediate passing game, in which I think he could excel in. Now to your comments, what do you think? Is this a possibility? Would you be in favor of a deal to bring Tebow to Cincy? He could really influence this locker room in a positive way, and one thing we know for sure is that he is a great team mate and he gives 150% every play. I vote yes.

Cincy Jungle Bengals to train in MMA?

Yes you read the headline right, and when I say Bengals I mean every one of them. It seems that Cincinnati Bengals strength coaches Chip Morton and Jeff Friday want to add Mixed Martial Arts into their training regimen this spring. They wish to employ a company owned by Fox Sports own Jay Glazer and MMA legend Randy Couture that worked with the Rams and Falcons last off season. The Bengals own Keith Rivers and Andrew Whitworth have participated in this program as well as other NFL stars Clay Matthews, Brian Cushing, Ryan Grant, and Chris Long. These sessions would be in four or eight week blocks that Hobson says will complement the work on the field and in the weight room. The coaches were seen at the Senior Bowl chatting with Glazer about the situation. Nothing is set in stone due to the problems with the new collective bargaining agreement, but I find this interesting nonetheless. As a fan of MMA I can say this will be great to add to the programs and to see the success of teams that did it last year gives you optimism.

Chip Morton seems to think it might help as well:

"It's understanding leverage; where your body is in space; the mobility of the hips," Morton said. "I use the term 'combat training' because the similarity between fighting and football is they're both combat sports. They both involve close contact; they both involve striking, and taking an opponent to the ground. A lot of the conditioning, a lot of the training, the mobility, there is lots of carryover."

A look into Glazer's camp:

"I still feel at 2-6 this is the best 2-6 team I’ve been on," Owens said. "Obviously that’s a negative and a positive, but we have the guys to do it. For whatever reason, we’re just not doing it. Somehow, some way we need to pay attention to detail. I think every guy has to look in the mirror. What can we do? What can they do to get better here going forward? You never know. Anything can happen in this league. Statistically, I don’t know where we are, if we can make the playoffs, but we have to start somewhere. Tonight would have been a great way to start and put us on a streak."

The Buccaneers cut fullback Chris Pressley over the weekend, ending the give-and-take between them and the Bengals since Fui Vakapuna got hurt early in training camp.

The Bengals originally signed Pressley as a free agent out of Wisconsin after the 2009 draft and kept an eye on him even after they cut him and the Bucs signed him at the start of last season. But Pressley may not be headed to Cincinnati just yet.

The Buccaneers have been trying to trade him to the Bengals for the last six weeks or so, but Cincinnati anticipated they’d cut him and held off. The Bengals still don’t have a fullback on the roster, but given the way the coaches have been talking about their comfort level with using tight ends that know the system in the fullback spot, it doesn’t look like it would be a lightning transaction. But it would make sense if they bring Pressley in for a workout Tuesday…

Cincy Jungle Last Fanpost

I've been a member of this blog for a long time, formerly know as Cinbengal_85, and this blog is a great blog. Josh and his writers do a very good job at what they do and this has nothing to do with them, they are great. This is the only place I have to go and talk about my favorite team because I live in a Titans state, and I considered alot of you my Cincy Jungle family. Somehow when I started wanting more out of this franchise I go from being Sam Whyche to being Skip Bayless.

I attempt to stir things up on purpose sometimes and I will admit to that, but that makes for good conversation, I thought. But if you can't come on here and voice your opinion without being ridiculed for it, whats the point? It seems that if you want better things for this franchise, you are somehow not a fan. I've been through the tough years as a Bengal fan just like most of you older than 18 have as well, I was a season ticket holder from 1990-1995 so I know about rough times, and yes this team is much better than what we had through the dark ages. All i'm saying is that we shouldn't be happy with that. We should want to be better, we should want better coaches, better play out of our QB and other 52 players, not have an ignorant offensive coordinator, and not have a stubborn owner that just does not get it. I don't have all the answers, I don't know why you expect me to have them. All I know is that we can be better and should expect better, I don't know how this makes me less of a fan.

As for Palmer, i'm a fan of him, I wear his Authentic jersey every Sunday afternoon with pride (that cost around about 300 bucks), but you can't have a player play that bad and expect things to be ok. I've been harsh on Palmer this season but I think for good reason, it is my right as an American citizen to say whatever the hell I want to say about the guy. If I pay 1000 bucks for me and 2 friends to go see a Bengal game I can boo him If I want to. I want him to do well, trust me I do. I want him to win us Super Bowls, but just after the way he has played this season and the last half of last season it would show me that he isn't going to do that. I hope he proves me wrong.

Ah yes, Marvin Lewis, a joke in my opinion, but some of you seem to think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Marvin Lewis is about right at 500 for his career as a Bengal Head Coach. A 500 career with 0 playoff wins is considered a success? Only in Cincinnati. Mike Brown has finally (and I stress the word finally) put together a team on paper that has enough skill to beat any team in this league but if you cant get your players motivated or use them correctly you will never succeed. His game management is just plain out horrible, absolutely disgusting, and that is his main job on Sundays. If you can't do what is expected of you, an any career, you will be fired. Why should the case be different for Marvin? No, before you say it, No a high profile coach will not come here and coach the Bengals, but Mike Tomlin wasn't a high profile coach before he went to Pittsburgh. Just think about that for a bit.

Well my friends, I said what I had to say. No more fanposts for me, it seems that is what the jungle wants, I will still be around for the game threads and possibly a fanshot to post a quote or video, but since alot of you dont respect my opinion I wont give it to you.

 Thanks and good day

Cincy Jungle Are Bengal fans satisfied with mediocrity?

I hear this alot, and I mean alot from people on this site and folks calling in on local Cincinnati radio shows, they say that Palmer and Marvin are better than what we have had in the decade before them, this I agree with. That really aint saying much though, because those coaches/quarterbacks we had in the 90's were horrible, but yes we are "better" now and your happy with that? Does this mean we are happy with just being in the middle? One and done playoff teams every 5 years? It seems to me most of you want Marvin and Palmer to stick around and continue being decent, as for me, like I have stated many times on this blog, I want championships! I want a quarterback that can win and not throw interceptions at critical times in must win games, I want a Coach that can manage the game correctly and motivate his team to suck it up and win, I want to win playoff games, is that to much to ask for? I really don't think it is. The season should be about more than just beating the Steelers/Ravens and just making the playoffs. A coach said one time that "You play to win the game!" not just have nice stats, make the pro bowl, and make $100 million dollars, that may be fine for you but not for me.

Anything less than a championship season is a failure, plain and simple

Cincy Jungle Upon further review

I was just wondering if I was the only person to see that last pass from Freeman to Williams that was reviewed with 6 seconds left in the ballgame, because I was 100% sure that pass hit the ground. Why was this play upheld as a completed catch? If ruled incomplete like it should have been the FG try would've been a 51 yarder, the tv and radio crew were shocked when the ref said the play was confirmed!! I was shocked also, it was obvious that ball hit the ground. I always said we can't blame the refs for a loss, like a Ravens fan (which we shouldn't have been in that close of a game to have that play), but serioulsy that could've gave us a shot at overtime. The referees have been terrible this season and that just topped it all off for me, these refs are blind!! Please tell me i wasn't the only person to see it hit the ground? if I can find a replay i will post it for you to analyze. I mean they reviewed an Ocho catch pretty much in the same manner and was called incomplete! They showed it on NBC highlights and they said they screwed us too, how come we got screwed and nobody seems to talk about it? They talked about the refs from the Ravens game for a week, and they don't even mention ours. Oh well it is what it is, but i just want to know how that ball was declared a catch!!

Cincy Jungle Pacman Jones Arrested then released...mistaken identity

If the day wasnt bad enough after the horrible loss to the Tampa Bay bucs, It is being reported that Pacman Jones has been arrested following the game. As details come into me I will pass them on to you, but it is high possiblity that Pacman Jones has played the last game as a Cincinnati Bengals and probably the last game of his career. Here is a picture that I have found and if anybody has any details please let us know. Damn what a messed up day to be a Cincy fan. The reds have toi top it off tonight.

 Update2:

Posted by Mike Florio on October 10, 2010 7:39 PM ET A rumor running rampant on Twitter and the Internet at large involves a contention that Bengals cornerback Pacman Jones was arrested after Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.

The Bengals tell us that Pacman Jones indeed was arrested.  But the Bengals also claim that Jones has been released.

Per Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan, the police have characterized it as a case of mistaken identity.

So Pacman was indeed arrested.  But, according to the team, he was released without charges.

I swear this season just keeps getting better and better!!

Update:

Apparently the car he was driving was forced off the road and onto the sidewalk by another car. As a result Jones apparently hit a pedestrian. According to witnesses at the scene no one was injured but Jones was seen in hand cuffs and later was taken away in a Cincinnati police car.

Bucs Nation Ask Cincy Jungle

Hey Folks, Im TennBengalfan over from CincyJungle.com. With the Bucs coming in to Cincy I figured I would come over and see what you guys were buzzing about for Sunday. After the Bengals defeat last week by the "mistake by the lake" (AKA Cleveland), and the really poor play from our offensive line, optimism is at an all time low for Bengal fans in 2010. We did have a few bright spots come out of  last week's game with the huge stats from Carson Palmer and T.O., but I still have alot of worries about this Bengals squad. We are looking to bounce back against you guys going into our bye week, and hopefully we can pull one out in the Jungle. So good luck and Who Dey!!
