What we learned about the St. Louis Rams after crushing defeat.
I'm sure the feature picture shows how most Ram fans and players felt after the 31-13 Saints victory Sunday. It was a ugly game by the Rams standards there were just too many mental mistakes for the Rams to overcome. There are a lot of reasons for the Rams lost, but I think that VTramsfan said it the best.
We got beat by an outstanding football team (not just good, but outstanding) on their home turf, in our THIRD road game in a ROW (a rare occurrence I might ad) with a rookie quarterback who has no real targets to speak of due to injury and lack of talent. Period. End of story.
With that said how different would the game had gone if Bradford would have threw that touchdown pass to Brandon Gibson? We will never know, but even when the Saints were up 28-6 it was hard to turn the game off because this Rams team is different then last season. (more on that later.) With this out the way lets step back and checkout what we have learned about the Rams after last Sundays game.

Why are the St. Louis Rams so conservative?
The Rams and the Saints are about to have their rematch this Sunday. The match up between these two clubs is more important this year however since both of these teams are fighting for playoff contention. The New Orleans Saints come into this game averaging 24.9 points a game while the Rams are averaging 19.3. Those numbers seem close but the Saints are entering this game with at least 30 points scored in their last three weeks.
I could go on and on about this match up but thats not the main issue. This game the Rams will need to open the offense up early and often. However this has been a problem for the Rams over.......... well 90% of the 2010 season. The Rams have had good success when throwing the ball deep this season. However as everyone knows the Rams rarely throw the ball deep. Sam Bradford has had 29 passes that went for over 20+ yards this season. In comparisons Aaron Rodgers has 51 passes, Ryan Fitzpatrick has 35, Jimmy Clausen has 12, and last but not least Josh Freeman has 41 passes over 20+ yards. What does all this mean? That Sam Bradford has proven that he can throw the ball deep plus when you watch the ball placement it's almost always in the right spot for the WR. So why do the Rams barely use Bradford's deep ball? After the jump I will discuss three possible reasons why.
2011 lockout is on the way.
In a letter to the players that was seen by The Associated Press, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith said the union had an "internal deadline" for agreeing to a new collective bargaining agreement.
The whole article on the letter is in this article on ESPN. For those of you who don't feel like reading this I will make it short for you. The NFLPA most likely won't try to renegotiate with the NFL until the current bargaining agreement is over.
The one-page letter on NFLPA stationery said the union expects the lockout to come on March 4, and that players should work with their advisers to prepare for an impending lack of income.
Below I have things that we do know about this lockout and things that we don't know. I know this lockout is on a lot of people minds so I had to let everyone know that this will most likely happen.
5 things you should know about this situation.
1. There will be an NFL draft.
2. If you buy tickets for the 2011 NFL season, and your game doesn't get played because of the lockout you will get your money back.
3. There is a 90% chance that there will be an 18 game season.
4. There is a high chance that 2012 season will have a rookie salary cap.
5. Expect to see familiar faces in the UFL next season.
5. things that we don't know about this situation.
1. Will Goodell get his wish for a development league for the NFL
2. How this will impact free agency.
3. How many players will be on an NFL roster in a 18 game season.
4. Will teams take chances drafting since they can't sign their picks until this situation is cleared up.
5. Will there be replacement players in 2011? I hear that it won't be and if thats the case the players have a big upper hand on the owners.

Will the St. Louis Rams make the playoffs?
The Rams are currently on a two game losing streak going into the hardest part of their schedule. The Rams have shown steady improvement this season but a couple questions still remain. Can the Rams win one or two of their next away games? If the Rams win their last two home games against the San Francisco 49ers, and Kansas City Chiefs can 6-10 get the Rams into the playoffs. Besides those questions the St. Louis Rams also have a few things going against them the last six weeks of the season.
The first thing that the Rams have going against them is the fact that they can't win on the road. This does make sense because the Rams don't have the talent of other teams. The second thing is that it's hard for the Rams to get more than 17 points a game. In fact the Rams only scored three touchdowns one time, and that was against the Washington Redskins. Next the Rams defense hasn't been good after the bye week. The defense isn't bad but third downs have been easy to get, and the pass defense has been poor, unless you think that Troy Smith should have 300 yard passing games against good defenses. The last thing is our passing threats, but I'm not going to waste your time and mine beating down an old horse or (ram). After the break I will predict our final record and give a brief description on how I see the games playing out.
I am hearing Rams are NOT putting in a claim for Moss.
NFC West Race Game Thread
So far this week the St. Louis Rams and the San Francisco 49ers both won respectively today. The 49ers are slowly creeping back into the division race. The game between the 2-5 49ers and the 4-4 Rams will be important a win could move them from 3rd to 2nd or 1st depending on how the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks play in the upcoming weeks.
Speaking of the Seahawks and Cardinals they both are playing teams that the Rams lost to this week. The Seahawks and the Raiders, and the Cardinals and the Buccaneers. These games should be a good guage on how good both of these teams are. Who will win their games? Will both of these teams lose? We will find out in a couple of hours
WR Danario Alexander having surgery today for torn meniscus in knee. Expected to miss two to four weeks.
Clifton Ryan on injured reserve with continued migraine issues.
The Rams offensive second half collapse and how it will impact the rest of the season.
Last sunday, the St. Louis Rams were up 17-6 at halftime and looking like they were going to runaway with a win. Until the 2009-2010 Rams showed their ugly heads again. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled a rabbit out a hat and came out with a 18-17 victory. It would be easy to blame the defense, I mean they did drop interceptions that would have stopped drives and a few missed tackles that helped extend drives. Our defense isn't the best but limiting a team to 18 points is enough for most teams.
Even though the Bucs did drive the ball down the Rams defense throat a few times, the Rams couldn't sustain a good enough drive to produce a field goal. It is embarrassing when the Bucs have drives consisting of 60,49,81 yard drives, but the Rams longest drive of the second half was 28 yards. So yes it was partly the Rams defense fault, but they at least slowed the Bucs down.
Week 7 NFC West At A Glance
Who would have thought before this season started that everything would unfold like this! We are heading into the 7th week of the season, and everything in the NFL is strange right now. The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints haven't been dominating, the Dallas Cowboys have only won 1 game, and the NFL is telling players to stop the helmet to helmet hits. With all the confusion going on the media is forgetting to talk about the NFC West who have 3 teams over .500.
The NFC West is one of the most interesting divisions in football this season. You have 3 teams, Rams, Cardinals, and Seahawks with 3 wins and a win within the division. If that isn't interesting enough than throw in the 49ers although they only have one win, it would take a lot to convince me that they don't have the best all-around team in the NFC West. After the jump we will go a little deeper into these teams.
Rams DE Chris Long has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week."
Greetings from Rams Nation (Turf Show Times)
I always wanted to do this so I'm going to give it a shot, Well I'm one of the writers for Turf Show Times, and I am here to answer any questions that you may have about our Rams, As customary I would like to ask a couple questions about the Buccaneers .
1. How is GeraldMccoy doing?
2. I used to be a fan of Cadillac is he good this year?
3. Who is the Bucs best passing threat?

Should the Rams trade for VJ? Bolts from the blue thinks so.
They give good reasons as to why Sam Bradford needs VJ. Last year the Rams made a surprise trade for B. Gibson, will they make one for VJ? Stay tuned.
NFL Week 5 Late Afternoon Game-Thread
Yes, I know it's horrible that the Rams got there ass spanked, handled to them, and pounded (wow that sounded wrong). The day isn't over yet however, there still are quality games being played. While our team mulls it's next moves at WR and how to comeback strong from this HORRIBLE lost, There is still hope that the NFC West will go 0-3 this weekend.
Right now the Arizona Cardinals and Max Hall are looking good in an 10-3 game against the New Orlean Saints. The 49ers will play the late night Sunday game. You also got the Rams next opponent the Chargers losing to the Raiders at the moment. So what game, if any are you watching? As for me I'm about to walk to Subway and hope I see the Cardinals lose.
Rams WO Mark Clayton possiblly lost for season with Pattella Tendon Tear.
St. Louis Rams Vs. Detroit Lions: Early Preview
The St. Louis Ramsare 2-2, the Rams have to be one of the surprise teams in the NFL thus far. The Rams are much improved this season, on all phases of the ball. I would be lieing if I said I thought that the Rams would improve this much so soon. The Rams could be 3-1, and running away with the division by now(I don't get the we could be 4-0 talk but oh well). Sam Bradford has been showing why many say he is the best QB to come out of the draft in recent years.
Then on the other side of the fence there is the Detroit Lions. It must be kind of hard to be a Lions fan right now. The Lions are playing the best football they have in along time. They have been doing all this without their franchise QB Matthew Stafford who is once again injured. Shaun Hill has been impressive thus far, and led the Lions to three lose games against really good teams.
Recent Background:These two team's have been horrible for the last few years. These two teams have been very consistent in playing for top 5 picks. It should come to no surprise that these two teams have been compared to each other, for a couple years now. Both of these teams have recently drafted franchise quarterbacks and are still rebuilding. Also the Rams were debating on drafting Suh, but ended up with Bradford instead.
Recent History: The Rams defeated the Lions last season, which ended up being the Rams only win in 2009. It's lucky for the Rams that Calvin Johnsonwas injured and didn't play in the game. The Lions didn't know that Josh Brown was Peyton Manning's third cousin, twice removed, and he was practicing that throw since he has been in the league. The Rams would escape with the victory 17-10.
Tevin's take on the game: The Lions have been playing great football, and hasn't been out of any game until it was offically over well besides the Vikings game. The Rams also have been playing great football. I think that this game will be closer than anyone expects, and that it could come down to a field goal or late touchdown. The Rams have to win this game however, we can't try to win the division if we can't beat a team that we are supposed to beat. I would be surprised if the Rams don't win this game.

Rams Injury/Inactive Updates And Early Morning News
This seemed like a better idea than just individual fanshots. There shouldn't be any surprises on the inactive updates, but I know that you want to know about Jackson and Attogwe status for this game well here you go.
Rams inactives: TE Hoomanawanui, TE Bajema, DT Ryan, DT Scott, WR Robinson, S Stewart, LB Chamberlain and T Foster.
Butler and Dahl will start at safety. Atogwe available for depth or possibly situationally.
I got those from the Rams offical twitter page

The Rams Vs. Seahawks: The Most Important Game Of The Sam Bradford Era
Hello everyone, I know it's been a long time since I posted anything. I was just about to go to sleep and get ready for the 12:00 showdown with the Seahawks, and even though I'm really tired I just had to make a new article. I won't hide this from anyone, even though the 49ers, and Cardinalsare also our rivals I really hate the Seahawks.
Last week everyone was saying that the Rams most important game was against the Redskins. Even though it was a big game, it doesn't compare to how big today's game is. If Sam Bradford is the QB that we think he is then it would be encouraging to see him pull out a great victory. However it could be a tall task for the Rams rookie quarterback.
This season I wasn't expecting the Rams to be good (8-9 wins) and even though it would be great if they were, I just wanted to see how Sam Bradford would play this season. I have been impressed by him so far, especially how different our offense look compared to last years. I'm sure his positive play will carry over if he gets the talent around him next season. After the jump, we will discuss the importance of this game for Sam Bradford and his Rams.
I know this isn't official, but I just saw on ESPN that the Rams are checking out Larry Johnson. Doesn't seem like a good sign for SJ39
Rams release cb kevin dockery, promote dt jermelle cudjo to active roster from practice squad.
I'm guessing Murphy just got a promotion too.
Rams reached long term deal with Vincent Jackson, but Chargers wanted those picks.
Had been reported that the Rams were giving some interest and then gave up. Basically they could have had him for a 2nd and 3rd 2011 draft picks. would you have made the deal?
Late Monday Night NFC Football Thread 49ers Spotlight
I was shocked that no one made a topic for us to discuss this Monday Night Football game. As I speak the 49ers are down 22-20 and to be perfectly honest they look like the team that many experts picked to win the NFC West. After watching most of this game I am 100% sure that the Seahawks game was a fluke and that the 49ers could end up being a pretty good team.
Sorry that this will be short but I have a test to study for tomorrow. So I will throw some short points that I caught from the game, and let everyone discuss.
Saints win 25-22
Stats:
4 Turnovers by the 49ers 2 lost fumbles, and 2 interceptions
Total yards Saints 287 and the 49ers 417
- Alex Smith will end up being a pretty good QB this season.
- Alex Smith is really athletic, did you see those QB runs when the play broke down?
- The 49ers have a pretty good defense
- The 49ers run defense is excellent
- Frank Gore is the best all around RB in the NFC West
- If you didn't know Patrick Willis is a beast.
- If Alex Smith can play like he this game, he is best NFC west QB.
- The 49ers have a lot of receiving threats.
What We Learned About Our St. Louis Rams
How is everyone doing this fine morning. We are just a few days removed from the first week of football. It feel's really good to say that again, it would be even better if the Rams didn't lose again. Let's not kid ourselves if your not used to hearing the Rams lost, you must be a new fan. What made this game special however, is the fact that it was so competitive. You can say that the Rams should have won, but the way I see it if this was last season the Rams would have gotten blown out.
Yes, I know the Cardinals had Derek Anderson, but the Rams were very impressive out there on defense. Then you had Sam Bradford doing his best Peyton Manning impression. In my honest opinion the Rams could have pulled out the game if Sam Bradford didn't have to throw the ball ball 55 times, and Steven Jackson averaged more than 3.7 yards a carry, and went to beast mode in the second half. With that being said I got to watch the whole game on Sunday, for the first time in along time, so I'm going to tell you what I learned from the St. Louis Rams first game of the 2010-2011 season with an unbiased opinion.
Tight end Darcy Johnson, the former New York Giant who was in training camp with the Rams, has been signed to the active roster. To make room for him, defensive tackle Jermelle Cudjo was released.
On the practice squad, the Rams added fullback Brit Miller and fullback/tight end Jamie McCoy; releasing wide receiver Brandon McRae and running back Allen Patrick.
2010 St. Louis Rams Compare Favorably To The 2008 Atlanta Falcons
No, I don't mean that the Rams will surprise the NFL and go 0-16. The Rams will become a good team next season, hell I think that this season will closely mirror the 2008 Atlanta Falcons season.Okay, yes I know just compared the Rams to a Falcons team that had an record of 11-5. Before I get deep into this, I'm not saying that the Rams will be 11-5 or make it to the wild-card. However the elements are there however, and if other teams that were supposed to be bad can make quick turnarounds then why can't the Rams? Mainstream media is always quick to talk about the big market teams, and also teams that have been consistent over the years.
This is the most talented Rams team that I have seen in a while. Last year many of the experts had us winning more than 4 games last season. However the Rams had many issues to go through last season. The Rams had a lack of talent, good quality veterans, rookie coaching, and most importantly they couldn't escape the injury bug. Last season the only reason to watch the Rams play was to see how they would lose to their next opponent. Those days could be over however sooner than later, and after the jump we will look more into these Rams and I will loosely compare the Falcons and Rams.
Is Stan Kroenke A Good Owner?
I won't lie to no one on here, I am a diehard Rams fan. I am also an Nuggets fan, but I only have been following the team for a year or so. With the recent developments I was just wondering what you guys thought about Stan.
Does he usually overspend on free agents?
Does he like to be a part of team affairs, or does he let the GM and front office handle things?
It would be nice to get any comments that I can.
Let's Have Some Faith In Our St. Louis Rams
The St. Louis Rams first preseason game didn't go exactly as planned. It was easy to be excited before the game started. The Rams had a lot of new faces and we had their franchise quarterback in Sam Bradford. However when the game ended instead us giving us hope for the future, the game against the Minnesota Vikings felt strangely like Deja Vu. The last regular season game the Rams played they totaled 109 yards.
This season started with a whimper the Rams had 150 total yards of offense and allowed 300 yards to Sage Rosenfels. At first glance it would be easy to say those silly Ram's here they go again. I understand why everyone was letdown by Saturdays game, but it was the first of four preseason games. Let's see if we can find some positives in this game.
*Hint majority of this will be about Sam Bradford.*
