Battle Red Blog YEAR 10! Changes that might turn it around??

Howdy, My fellow Battleredden, Deep Steel Blued, Texans fans. I've been doing some thinking about our Texans and realized next season is our Tenth, right?

The tenth anniversary of the franchise seems like a good time and  reason to change some things about the Houston Texans that are synonymous with the mediocrity that we've all come  to know and hate  love.

Ditch the Battlered uniforms- seeing these unis used to make me think of beating Jacksonville, back when we only had beating the Delrios to look forward to in said battlered.  First off, we haven't beaten the Jags since the Ketchup Bottles made their MNF debut, and we lost the last MNF we wore just the tops. Don't get me wrong I love my Battlered #90, but the team needs to get rid of them.

I say we keep the Battlered color as part of the get up, but minimal. I propose some black be incorporated, and maybe even a Black on Black uniform. Then we can were the Battlered as a throwback.  Also add a white helmet I think to only the all white suits.

Make Matt Schaub change his number. I realize he has always been #8, but every dumb throw/INT brings a chest pain to me. Change your number to 1 or 19 Matt or whatever, just get rid of 8, it's not our lucky number, unless a 0 is placed after it and the MAN wearing it now, will be the only Texan to ever wear it.

The Logo could be altered a little as well. Not sure what I would do with that, but I bet someone could come up with something as long as it's not cartoon stupid, like the Rockets did, man I hated that.

I know everyone points to coaching changes, and I think there are going to be some heads lopped, but I don't think Kubiak's will be one of those, unless this team goes all cowgirl and quits, but they won't.

I was just trying to think of some cosmetic changes that the Texans could do to turn our fortunes  a different direction. I'm sure there are some better ideas out there, these are mine.

PEACE TO ALL AND HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY SEASON EVERYONE....

GO TEXANS!!!

Battle Red Blog A Maniac's word in edgewise...

Howdy Folks,

 Brent aka Texanmaniac here.

I've been doing some thinking about our Houston Texans. I've been busy lately and haven't had time to comment on much lately, except for the occasional phone posting that repeats itself like 8 times or AllenOU'd as it's refereed to, while I'm waiting on a patient. I just wanted to post my Maniacal Two Cents... and yes, I posted this on Texans Chick Steph's blog, I had the chance to meet her while tailgating before the preseason game against southern oklahoma. and she's really cool and knows good beer.

Anyway, I have two theories on our beloved Texans. The first of which, are my true feelings and Beliefs about this team and the second is my attempt at an optimist outlook.

1) The Texans are who we thought they were. I mean they will never be anything other than an average to good team, that can lay an egg, just as easily as blow someone out, and this can happen game to game, quarter to quarter, drive to drive and play to play.Gary Kubiak is not going to get fired, because he will always do just enough to keep fans interested enough to go to games and as long as people show up, Bob Mcnair will be happy and rich. This team will never go 2-14 under Kubiak. This team will never go 14-2 under Kubes either. There is a good chance that Gary Kubiak will be Jeff Fisher like in his tenure with the Texans. If Folks want to be Texans Fans, which I certainly do, I guess we just need to embrace mediocraty, I don't go to many games 3 total, and the jerseys I own I paid minimal price for after football season, so I'm not spending thousands a year to support the team. I will watch however and hope for the best and expect the worst like any good Texans Fan.

2) An optimistic thought on the Texans is this. The secondary is getting some serious OJT. Demeco Ryans, Connor Barwin, Andre Johnson, Tim Bulman, Ben Tate, will come back healthy next season. The running game will so good with Tate and Foster, that Matt Schaub may not need to attempt a pass next season. I'm pretty convinced that the loss of Connor Barwin is why the defense it so terrible.

I appreciate it if you read this far...thanks....no really:)

Just my Maniacal Thoughts:) GO TEXANS!!!

Battle Red Blog ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL???

Well, we are like ten days from Training Camp and I cannot wait, I think the Texans are going to have a spectacular season in some for or fashion.

Yesterday I was watching the "circling the drain very fastros" get their heads pounded in by the pirates, I was almost driven to the point of emesis. Then I decided to check the DVR list and found the Texans week 17 game against the Pats.

I had seen the 4th quarter last season, but I had never seen the game from the beginning so I watched and I got excited about a few things.

Matt Schaub - look very comfortable, even though he took several hits and was hurried a few times. He made a brilliant throw to an even more brilliant catch by Jacoby Jones, he spread the ball around well, he ran well enough to make some plays.

Mario- Now I'm no football expert, I'm just a fan, but he turned it up a notch. He sacked Brady and hurried him and hit hard on Pollard's int. He seemed more effective coming up through the middle.

Arian Foster- I am really excited to see if this young man, can bring it, this season, like he did in that game. I think with Foster, Tate and Slaton on 3rd down, The running game my turn into a strength, especially since I think teams won't respect it for a game or two.

Say what you will, but Bill Belicheat wanted to win that game. Brady didn't play in the second quarter, but he came back until Mario "ate" him up on a sack and then hit him on the int. The Pats played to win and were up by 14 in the fourth. The entire Texans team stepped and took matters seriously and the Pats didn't have an answer.  I found myself very excited about this up coming season.

Apparently NFL network showed the game as well, which I wasn't aware of and when I tuned into 610 this am, they were talking about it, I was like "wow"! I took it as a sign that this will be surprisingly special season for us Texans Fans.......or it could just be coincidence.

either way.....I'M READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!

Battle Red Blog WTF??

Well guys/gals, I attended my 2nd Texans and it was a helluva lot better than the Buffalo game in '06. The Texans showed that they can flat dominant a game in the first half and they should that they are the Texans in the second half. When it came to the Testicular Lacerating, The Texans salvaged their own nuts and made the plays to win the game. 4-3 aint too shabby, especially after the Jets game.

Couple things made me say WTF?

Instantrage(chris) and myself arrived at the Yellow Lot around 0830. We strolled around beer(s) in hand. Hoptober, Oktoberfest, Christmas( St. Arnolds), and Fattire were the beverages of choice. We went to several tailgaters and asked about BRB, but we had no luck finding any of you guys WTF? There must be part of that Lot we didn't go to, but we got well medicated and found a guy that makes his own brew and scored free food from him as well so the Tailgating Rocked.

We were seated in the 320 section, the sunny end. These two Jack wads behind us kept getting mad and telling us to sit down until something exciting happened, WTF? They were supposedly Texans fans, but kept saying shit like, " we could see the game if you would sit down" Fuk that, I'm at my 2nd Texans game ever and Mario gets a sack on the first play and you want me to sit.....WTF? Well, we basically ignored those Asswipes, and the 2nd half pretty much kept us in our seats anyway.  Which brings me to another WTF?

When the niners were making thier comeback on our end and were in the redzone, the people on that level refused to get up and cheer and be loud! WFT? They sat there with fukin hands in lap and looked at us funny when we stood. Then when Wilson makes the int., it was like " finally we can go" and they jumped up and scurried out...WTF?

As for Rage and I we had a drunken blast and I called the 4-3 when we were 2-3, GOTTA KEEP IT ROLLIN' TEXANS!!!!!......

if not........WTF????

Battle Red Blog Maniac, Rage, 49ers, 4-3 and THE YELLOW LOT!!!

First off, my take on yesterday's game.

It sucked to lose in such a bad play calling, turnover that could have been avoided kinda way, but I had this game as a loss, and we made a game of it, so that pleased me.

The Negatives-  The lackluster way the Texans started. Matt Schaub's 3rd TD pass. The playing calling for the most part was terrible.

The positives-  Does anybody have any doubt that Andre Johnson is the best WR on the planet? The Defense in the 2nd half allowed 0 points ZERO!

I think The Bengals have been ramped up for back to back Division slugfests ,they are due for a let down, and the Texans have not lost back to back games this season!(yes I know they haven't won back to back either, but that ain't the point). I think the Texans move Back to .500 with a win in Cinncy next week.

The 49er game should be the 2nd win in a streak, I think could last several games. Not sure why ,but I just think everything is about to come together for this team. This team will be 3-3 working on 4-3 When I get to see them live.

This brings me to the real point of this post. The 49er game will be only the second Texans game Texanmaniac has ever attended. My buddy InstantRage will be with me. I bought the Tickets from a season ticket holder. We will be parking in the Yellow Lot and I hear that it's the place to be. We would like to meet some of you folks, so if you gonna be there please let us know how to find you and maybe we can enjoy a cool one before the game, we plan on getting there early.

Battle Red Blog The last voice I heard last night....

Was that of our Andre Johnson #80. The best WR in football, the never says a word, just quietly kicks ass, Dre Johnson. He was on the Channel 13 news, talking about how the Texans played tough and how guys were getting on each other about mistakes, Tim mentioned in his post game breakdown, how Matt Schaub was being vocal on the field when bad plays occured.

I'm starting to get a very good feeling about this "team". During the game, Demeco and Cushing were slapping helmets after tackles and the "fight" on the sidelines. Those are things I don't recall seeing from the Texans before.

I'm not a complete idiot. I know this team has a long way to go, but there are things about this Texans team that gives me a lot of Texans pride and I cannot wait to see how this season progresses. It's going to be a roller coaster, but it will be fun. The first step is stringing together a few ass beatings.

I'm just pumped, GO TEXANS!!!

Battle Red Blog A Maniac's Camp Experience...

The other day I thought it would be cool to go to the Texans open practice against the Saints. I printed my tickets, told the wife and kids we were going but we would have to get up early, because the gates opened at 730 and we live 70 miles from Houston.  I'm a bit of a sport blog junkie, so I emailed John Mcclain personally to see if he was ever available to talk with fans. I don't always agree with Jmac, but I do read his blog and I thought if I was going to drive all the way into Houston, maybe I could meet him. I prepared the kids for a hopeful autograph or two. My daughter has a pink Schaub jersey that she's grown out of and my son has a new Demeco Ryans jersey and we took a football.

Well, Jmac responded to his email with his cell phone number and told me to text him when I got there, so I did.  I texted, he texted "call me", so I did. Jmac brought Anna-Meagan Raley along to come meet us, however my son and my wife stayed in the stands because the Texans had just ran onto the field.

So my daughter and I go down from the stands and Jmac and A-M are there and we meet them and we tell them that we had brought stuff for players to sign, but hadn't had access to anyone. My daughter is a huge Matt Schaub fan, she is on her second jersey of his. John said "well if you really want Schaub to sign it, why don't you let me have it, I will have him sign it and email me your address and I will mail it to you" We thought that would be totally awesome!  Anna Meagan then said " why don't we just let them try and get thier own autograph"? We thought this was completely and totally awesome!!. So John and Anna Meagan and myself and my daughter started walking around the practice field towards the players  and I mentioned my wife and son were still in the stands, John said " call her and tell her you will see her after the game". This did not fly well with my wife at all....

She cussed me a blue streak via text and if I hadn't had the car keys, my daughter and I wouldn't have had to thumb our way back home. John left us and said he would see us after practice. After stumbling upon a catching drill with Andre Johnson, Steve Slaton and Owen Daniels, I had finally had enough of my wife's textual abuse and asked the gate keeper if I could go get them, since I now had a nifty florescent green bracelet, so I did... that bracelet gave me access and it was like people knew me.

We watched practice and when practice ended we got to meet some players and here what I noticed...

Andre Johnson- Not near as tall as I thought, I know he's 6-3, but I literally bumped shoulders with him and we were eye to eye it seemed, and I'm 5-11 wearing flip flops. If there needed to be another reason to love this guy, after practice, on his way back over to the stadium he stopped and signed autographs all along the way, I don't think anybody missed out. I made my son hand him our football and he signed. I told AJ good luck and he said thank you with out even opening his mouth. I told my son, " the best reciever in football has held and sweated on our football"- Awesome

Demeco Ryans- I tell you what, when these guys don't have a jesey on, they are hard to recognize, especially when your as awed as we were. Ryans was standing right behind me and I didn't notice until I heard some kids yelling his name. My son had his back to him as well and when I realized who it was I just backed him up to him and handed Demeco a sharpie and he signed his jersey.

James Casey- UH and Rice players were also at this practice just watching and once all of the Rice players left Casey alone I went up to him and told him that I had good vibes bout him, he smiled and said that he wanted to keep those vibes good- only rookie to sign my ball.

Ryan Moats- Short dude, was acttually leaning against the football as I held while signed, very nice young man.

Amobi Okoye- smiled, didn't say a word, big boy.

Chester Pitts- this man is very comfortable around fans, he seemed to look for something to sign, very nice.

Eric Winston- signed the ball, but never stopped talking to his daughter.....can't blame him really.

Jacoby Jones- I know why he always fumbles, hands are smaller than mine. he did return a punt for a td in practice.

Matt Schaub- I spotted his balding head in the line of players and watched him walk across the field and talk to Drew Brees and never lost site of him. When he headed back towards us the crowd had thinned and I stepped right in front of him and asked him to sign my daughter's jersey, without hesitation he signed, I told him good luck with up coming season, he looked at me and said Thank You.

This may have been a bit corney to you guys, but my family had a blast and I have John Mcclain of all people to thank for it. If  you read this far ,thanks.

Battle Red Blog Completly pointless offseason chewings...

Boys and Girls, to me it's the most escruciating time of year in my opinion. Football is close enough to smell yet still months away. Baseball is great when the Astros are good, but they aint, and the Rockets are gone so I could care less about the NBA so I'm writing some crap that's been stuck in my head for a while now.

I believe that the Texans are going to make a serious jump this season. Not just based on thier draft, but just the fact that the team, thier coaches and management are getting older and wiser. Of course, the best part about being a Texans fan is if they win 9 games, we can still say they improved. I am so sick of non Texans fans telling me how bad my team is because they haven't went to the playoffs or had a winning season, my response is " they haven't had a losing season in two years", but that's still a pretty pathetic response, so I'm counting on my team becoming know for something other than 8-8 seasons and I think that will happen this year. I mean we don't even have an embarrassing playoff collapse to call our own yet!

Stupid question #1: If you could be guaranteed a superbowl victory this season, and the Texans be 8-8 for the next

10 years would you take it? Or would you rather the Texans be contenders for the next 10 years and no guarantee of even a playoffs?

#2 The Texans play the Colts, Titans, Colts during a stretch this upcoming season. We can't win all three, can we? So do we want to beat the Colts twice and get beat by the oilers on MNF, or lose to the colts once and beat the tits?

I'm just bored, hope everyone has a great summer!

Battle Red Blog Maniacally Bold Bowl Prediction!

Please accept my apologies fellas. This is directly from my own blog, but I wanted to see what my BRB bretheren thought about today's games......here are my thoughts.......

Hell Yes, it's championship Sunday. By the ten o'clock news we will know the teams that will meet in superbowl 43 ( I don't know that roman numeral stuff). I'm going give my reason's why each team will win and why each team will not win.

Pittsburgh-winning formula-
The best defense in the NFL, will no doubt help the team to victory today. They also draw a Rookie in Joe Flacco, who is trying to become the first rookie ever to lead his team to a superbowl. Their qb Big Ben Rothlisburger has been there and knows what it takes to lead a team to a superbowl. The Steelers also have a healthy running game for the first time in several weeks.

Pitt- sure to lose- Big Ben is nursing a concussion and The second best defense in the NFL knows it. The last 2 games were decided by a total of like 6points, that last one being controversial on a reviewed call that could have went either direction.

Baltimore- winning formula-
This team is no doubt the toughest in the league, today's game will be a blood bath. The Ravens, I think, feel they have something to prove. The last 2 games were very close and They felt they were dealt a bad hand with the reviewed call on the Santonio Holmes TD. Any team with ED Reed and Ray Lewis can win any game.

Balt- sure to lose- Rookie QB Joe Flacco has to face the best defense in football on their home field. If Flacco is forced to get one dimensional, he will be in for a long day and his linemen will be peeling him up off the frozen turf.

Arizona- winning formula-
Kurt Warner one football's best ever high scoring, ball slinging, big game QBs. Couple that one the league's best receiving twosomes in Fitzgerald and Boldin. Even if Boldin sits, Fitzgerald was Andre Johnson like against the Panthers and they knew the ball was coming his way. The Cards definitely have something to prove and they are at home.

Arizona-sure to lose-Donavon Mcnabb is not chopped liver, and is playing in his fifth NFC championship game. If this game becomes a shootout, which it will, the Eagles Pass Defense is just better.

Philadelphia- winning formula-
As I mentioned before, Donavon Mcnabb is due. Fifth champ game and he knows what it takes to win. The Eagles have been literally unbeatable since the game after D Mac was benched. They have rallied behind their QB and he will get his due respect.

Philly- sure to lose- See Arizona winning formula........Warner, Fitzgerald, Boldin, James....at home.

Texanmaniac's Prediction.........Philadelphia and Baltimore advance to the Superbowl.

Battle Red Blog HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I just wanted to say to my BRB. Bretheren. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.

A few thoughts as we end this year and football season-

The Texans are making this blog really fun and I cannot wait until Next season. I personally will be shocked if we don't win out and finish 9-7, the attitude this team has developed is completely Awesome!

I probably shouldn't do this, but during the offseason and Baseball season I will be posting regularly on my own blog. I watch alot of baseball and I love the Stros. I will also start posting on the Rockets and March Madness so come and by and tell me I'm an idiot. The address is

houstonsportsrule.blogspot.com

As we approach this Holiday Season, I want to thank Tim for having this blog,

wish everyone on BRB a Safe and Merry, Happy, Joyous and asskicking good timing Christmas!

I think the tag line to start next season should be

Battle Red Blog Does Anyone Remember?

1993-1994 Oilers. The season after the Buffalo fiasco, which happened the day after my lovely spouse and I got hitched. I was on the plane to San Francisco and the pilot came on and said the Oilers had lost 41-38,  I remember thinking, " well at least they made a game of it". I learned the real story later.

The Oilers started the next season 1-4, and I remember Bob Allen and others just dogging them. I was a newly wed and don't really remember but how were they playing? Horribly or just unlucky? They went on to win the last 11 in a row. My wife was lucky enough to be with me on our 1st anniversary to watch them beat the Jets for the 11th win.

Battle Red Blog IMAGINE IF YOU WILL!

Watching NFL football two weeks ago and no team was from Houston.

Then one a week ago a very large Hurricane named Ike caused you to miss the games that week, but no teams were affected, because there is no team in Houston.

This, my fellow Texans fans, is what life would have been like in 1998. When there was no team in Houston.

The Texans suck, no doubt about it, but it is just plain awesome to at least have a team to cuss and moan about.  For those of you who remember how crappy it felt as a sports fan, to lose your freaking football team.  All I'm saying is, I will never give up on the Texans........But Dammit!!!....................................................................................

Sit Schaub, start Sage, until he gives you reason otherwise!

Who calls the plays? Kubiak or Shanahan or Both? Whatever is it change it all.

Fire the defensive coordinator and give the job to Ray Rhodes.

I LOVE STEVE SLATON!

And I do believe this season will get better!

Battle Red Blog A Screaming Maniac's Perspective

That was simply Brutal!  I title this Screaming, because that was something I wasn't able to do. I'm a nurse so I watched this game out of the corner of my eye in a patient's room and what I saw made me want a strong sedative.

Keep in mind I saw maybe three plays a series, and unfortunately that was almost every play the Texans had. This is what I took from the chopped up version.

Negatives:

Matt Schaub looked scared.....is David Carr available?.........NOT!

Play calling, offensively and defensively....How many screen passes for  negative yards or very few yards did we have?

Run Defense.......BRUTALLY BAD! Everytime I looked up Willie Parker was dancing in the endzone.

Pass Defense

Preparedness.....The Texans looked like they had no idea what to expect from the Frikin Pittsburg Steelers!

Coaching, I believe these guys know what to do, but this looked like a Dom Capers coached team!

Positives:

Mario!

Battle Red Blog After Thoughts

I've been thinking alot about the Texans loss to the cowboys. I had to listen to cowboys fans I work with and I've read blogs, telling me how my team sucks. So I just wanted to give a thoughts.

First off is it just my maniac alter ego thinking this or is defensive holding the worst call in the NFL? I realize you cannot hold a reciever going for the ball, but the ball should have something to do with the play! Dammnit that play pissed me off!

We bitched and complained about our lack of pass rush, but our QB's were hurried and hit and not sacked. Mario was disruptive and he was doubled and held almost the whole time he was in.

Our Running Backs, Chris Taylor and Steve Slaton looked pretty good.... I think a healthy Tayor and Slaton with Walker is a hell of alot better than watching Green and Brown limp of the field after 2 plays.

The play calling was very vanilla and Schaub matched Romo's yards and completions.

One major plus in my eyes.... make that two..... We didn't turn the ball over and no major injuries to key players

I'm not forgetting Harry Williams, may he recover fully. Could you Imagine having to play a game, you know your fans have to have you win, even though it's preseason, after seeing one of your teamates lying motionless?

I don't really considera it a well played game, but I thought our boys did a pretty Damn good Job at making it a game....... And we almost won!

Battle Red Blog Just Maybe?

I'm at work, only have limited time so I wanted to say a few things prior to tonight's game. This is not posted on my personal blog so don't go looking......just kidding.

Anyway, is there a possibility that our Texans have been holding out on the cut blocking to avoid injuring opponent's in the preseason, so that is why our run game is suffering? Just Maybe?

The Pass rush, if you look at our D, you would think we should be getting some serious pass rush, but we aren't. Any chance we are holding back to allow opponent's to actually participate? Just Maybe?

I just want that nonsense to stop tonight, I know all the preseason doesn't count crap. But Dammnit we have to beat the Cow Patties!

Battle Red Blog A Maniac's Perspective

Preseason game 1 against the Broncos was less than spectacular, however there were things to like and things to not like so much.

Here's my take, first of all I want to say, I know preseason games don't mean anything, but damn I'm glad the Texans didn't lose.

What I liked:
The Defense was solid in the first series
Mario's speed- #90 is a Freaking Monster
Duane Brown- This kid is the real deal
Demeco- Defensive anchor man
David Anderson- a lot of fire....a short yardage weapon
Jacoby Jones- nice catch
Kris Brown- steady as they come
Chris Taylor, Darius Walker, Steve Slayton- all 3 need work, but did fine I thought
Schaub and Rosenfels- nice to know that we have that depth at QB
Shane Boyd- can run and pass, fun to watch
Clock Management- I thought The coaches and Shane Boyd managed the clock superbly in order to get the win

What I didn't like:
The Defense- was sluggish after that 1st series, run defense was frustrating to watch at times
Jacoby Jones- don't be a hero, make the team, its preseason.
Running game- Holes were closing way too quickly
Ahman Green- he really should be cut this season, just an accident waiting to happen.

That's just my take at first glance of preseason game 1

Battle Red Blog IT'S FOOTBALL TIME HOUSTON AND I'M PUMPED!

I know its only preseason, but we have so few games we should savor each one. The most games your team can play is 24; if you play a wild card game and eventually advance to the Super Bowl. That's only one-third of an NBA season, and one-sixth of a MLB season. I know the preseason games don't count and the starters play very little, with the exception of the third preseason game. But I'm especially excited about the Texans rookies this year and I cannot wait until Saturday night. Besides, if you actually attend the game, the price is the same. So why not watch our Texans on Saturday with passion and interest in guys who may or may not make the team. All I'm saying is................. HOUSTON, ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

Battle Red Blog THE LEGION OF DOOM!!

I have been calling the Texans defense from last season D. O. M. as in DOMination! D-emeco ryans, amobe O-koye, and Mario williams. I did this because I believe that the Texans defense will be a dominate D. this season.
Texan Rob, a blogger who posts on www.chron.com had an even better idea. He took into account Frank Okam, the rookie defensive tackle from UT, and put Okam among the other names and came up with The Legion of DOOM, Demeco, Okoye, Okam, Mario. It's perfect, you have the first names of the bookends Demeco and Mario, which these guys should be for years and the last names of the younger guys. Okoye and Okam. Assuming Okam gets in the rotation, I think he will, this will be great nickname for The Texans Defense.
I'm just saying lets spread THE LEGION OF DOOM! and when the Texans get enough credit for being a football team in the NFL, even the national media will refer to them as THE LEGION OF DOOM!

Thanks Texan Rob!

Battle Red Blog Super Mario Sacks?

Megan Manfull asks if Mario if the best DE, what do you think? On my personal blog www.houstonsportsrule.blogspot.com, I'm starting some predictions just for fun and I wanted to get my fellow BRBer's to chime in.

#1 How many sacks will Super Mario have this season? I would put to Over / Under at 15 and I'm going to take the over. I'm hoping for a a big season from Mario.

Battle Red Blog Texans 2008 Prediction

Texans 2008

Remember the feeling you had every time the Oilers broke your heart with a loss in the playoffs? The ride was exciting, but the season always ended with a loss. The past two seasons the Texans have ended their season with a win and optimism. That changes this year, Texans fans, the optimism will still be there, but we will taste our first playoff victory as well as defeat.
Here is my take on the upcoming season a game by game prediction.

Week 1 - @ Pittsburgh - The Defense will be better than people give them credit for, but this will be an offensive game. Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson have a big game, But Mario will catch Big Ben at least once. W 1-0

Week 2 - Baltimore - First home game and Reliant Rocks, The Defense flex their muscles in dominating fashion W 2-0

Week 3 - @Tennessee - Now that Mario has found himself, he is anxious to show the folks in Budville what we have. Big game for Super Duper Mario. The Texans also post their first ever
3-0 start. W 3-0

Week 4 - @ Jacksonville - This is where 3 of 4 on the road takes it's toll, Texans stink this one up and fall flat. L 3-1

Week 5- Indy- Finally home for a stretch, but doubt has set in and the colts take advantage and do what they normally do and win, but should be a hard fought game from the Texans. L 3-2

Week 6- Miami - Defense played well enough against the Colts to gain back some confidence and The Fins are not able to handle the onslaught, this is not a win with a field goal. W 4-2

Week 7- Detroit- Wrong time for the Lions to show up at Reliant, this may be a shutout. W 5-2

Week 8- Bye week is good for Texans, fans will hate it because they are playing so well that we are afraid of losing steam.

Week 9- @ Minn- Steam lost, mistakes and the Adrian Peterson train eat up the Texans. L 5-3

Week 10 - Cincinnati - close game, but Texans do enough to win W 6-3

Week 11 - @ Indy - The Colts are about 7-2 or 8-1 at this point are full of confidence. Their slide from greatness starts on this week. The Texans make all the right plays and sneak out their first victory in Indy. W7-3

Week 12- @ Cleveland- The emotional drain of beating the Colts and the thought of the upcoming MNF game against Jacksonville leaves an easy opponent for the Browns. L 7-4

Week 13- The hype in Houston will bigger than the superbowl. The Jags never play good when Reliant is Rocking and Mario is a FREAKING MONSTER. MNF is in for a treat. W 8-4

Week 14 - @ Green Bay- Favre? Who knows, Who cares. Short week but the prospect of that first ever ninth win pushes the Texans to victory. W 9-4

Week 15- Tennessee- The oilers.... I mean the Titans just aren't getting it done this year and The Texans win a close one to sweep Tennessee. W 10-4

Week 16 @ Oakland- This is where ESPfrickN, steps in. There is talk of the Texans going 12-4 and possibly winning the division. The Texans go to Oakland and lay an egg. L10-5

Week 17- Chicago- Last home game, The playoffs are a given at this point, but a win today could win the division. Focus is lost and Da Bears win a tough game. L 10-6

Well, There you have it. I think The Texans will make the playoffs and win their first playoff game, only to lose the next one. But man, that would be a nice way to end this season.

GO TEXANS!!!
