Ramblings of an Idiot: Offensive Observations

It's been a busy week in football. Rookies and free agents were finally able to join their teams on August 4th, just 8 days before the first pre-season game (7 days for a few teams). Coaches are...

Ramblings of an Idiot: Chicken Little Edition

"The sky is falling! The sky is falling!", said the little chicken from the children's story. And if you've been keeping up with the comments and posts around the league in the last few day you'll...

Morning Folks. 2 Quick notes: 1) Sorry I missed my post time on Tuesday. One of my store managers (of 15 years) was taken to the hospital with a soccer ball sized tumor on Sunday. I've spent most the week covering her store and spending time with her at the hospital. She went through surgery yesterday, and they found NO cancerous tissue at all. She's on the road to recovery now and should be back in a few weeks. 2) While driving to the hospital I was listening to an interview with Pat Williams on Sirius NFL Radio. Pat Williams is part of the Williams wall for the Vikings defensive line. His contract is up in Minnesota and they were asking him if he plans on retiring. He said that he thinks he has 1 or 2 more years left in him, but that he wants to play for a winner. He mentioned that he doesn't want to stay in Minnesota if they are going to go with a rookie QB this season. Pat Williams plays most of his snaps as a zero technique in Minnesota (Nose Tackle). When asked directly where he might like to go if he parts with Minnesota he mentioned 3 teams; but the FIRST team he mentioned was Kansas City. He said KC needed a run stuffer in the middle and he could fill that role. Nothing else to report, just thought that might start some discussion. Pat WIlliams as a NT to train Powe for a year or 2? Thoughts?

Ramblings of an Idiot: The Age of Aquarius, Kinda

Ramblings of an Idiot: Unrelated Rants

Happy belated 4th of July to all the AP readers. Like a lot of you, I’m coming down off a glorious holiday weekend. Unlike a lot of you, that means I only had to work 10 hours a day for the last...

Ramblings of an Idiot: Fire Zone Basics

The debacle of a defense that took the field for the Chiefs under Dick Vermeil is long gone in Kansas City. As we saw last week, the boys in red and gold have taken tremendous strides on the side...

Ramblings of an Idiot: Chiefs Success Story

These were the ABC's of the Kansas City Chiefs in recent memory. These are the kinds of words that were used to describe my favorite NFL team's play and it's players over the last several seasons. (OK, maybe I'm stretching it with the African clawed frog; but I really needed an "X").

Ramblings Of An Idiot: Quarterback Carousel

Yet another Tuesday; that means the idiot is running loose on Arrowhead Pride for the 4th time in as many weeks. Last week's Brodie Croyle piece sent me off on the tangent of going over the possibilities available to our beloved Chiefs for a back up signal caller.

Ramblings of an Idiot: End of the Experiment

Step back inside the mind of the idiot for another Tuesday edition. I have been assured by my doctor that my condition is neither contagious nor particularly harmful, unless my ramblings are spouted directly into the face of a hostile fan.

Ramblings of an Idiot: Influence or Influenza

It's Tuesday again, and time for Chris to let the idiot out his cage for another edition. At least this week Joel forced Chris to provide me with water and a beard trimmer. Today I'll...

Ramblings of an Idiot: First Edition

Welcome AP readers to the first installment of ‘Ramblings of an Idiot.' The Thormans, in their infinite wisdom sleep deprived mistaken reply to the wrong email have given me the opportunity to present the AP readers with a weekly pile of hastily slapped together B.S. forum in which to post my most serious, non-argumentative, never offensive, well thought out and thought provoking writings.

NFL Offseason Entertainment: Build Your Perfect Quarterback

From the FanPosts. And the offseason rolls on....Thanks Texas Chief. -Chris Here we are once again... depressed and dealing with the worst time of the NFL football to watch on Sunday. Forget the 18 game schedule debates.

The Texans are the True Test for the Chiefs.

Enough already about the Colts game. Yes, the Chiefs need to be thinking about one game at a time; but the fans have the luxury of looking beyond this weekend. The Chiefs have 2 tough...

"Thomas delivered Seattle's lone touchdown of the game and also leveled Percy Harvin on a slant over the middle"

Rookie Safety Earl Thomas returns an interception 86 yards for a touchdown. This will be an interesting one to watch for me. I liked Eric Berry, but I was not in love with him before the draft. I think he has a very good career ahead of him in the NFL. However, it was my contention that Earl Thomas was the better pro prospect and also the better value (based on draft position) in the 2010 draft. I'll be watching these 2 players all season long (and beyond) to see how their careers unfold. I hope Berry becomes a pure NFL stud for the Chiefs, but in the back of my mind I still believe the Chiefs would have been better served to trade back for Thomas or address NT or ILB to stuff the run. I'll also be watching Aaron Curry's development in his 2nd year, and Rolondo McClain playing over in Oakland; both players that I was adamant about the Chiefs drafting in 09 and 10 respectively.

Do We Already Have the Safety We Need?

The NFL is a Game in the Shallows

-From the FanPosts. -Matt It's been awhile since I sat down and made a new post here on AP. I thought it was time to prove to DThomas, Chris, and Joel that I'm not dead yet. For those that know me...

For the Sake of Posterity

I was reading the 2008 draft results post. For some reason the comment section on that post has been closed, not sure why. I was looking over the picks and my eyes were drawn to all the negatives...

My Turn for Chiefs Draft Trade Craziness

So, seeing as everyone else has listed some ideas about who we could trade down with for our #3 overall pick I thought I'd take a shot at it. Denver, San Fran, Tampa Bay, the Jets, and Seattle may be in need of a QB, but that's been done already. Philly is in need of OL and a RB, but that's been done too.

The Curse of Bobby Layne

From 1950 - 1958 the Detroit Lions had a quarterback named Bobby Layne. Layne is a hall of fame quarterback that won 3 championships in his 8 year tenure with the team, including 2 back to back. I...
