Deadline Trade?

So i'm sure that many of you are like me and are pleasantly surprised at how this team is playing right, or many of you are right on the money, hovering right around .500. Now I know that we cannot win the division with this current team, but I also believe that the Dodgers will not keep this pace up all season, and that we could be lurking in the division. I think that having one big bat could help us a lot on the road to contention.

Now the question open for McCoven discussion is this, do we need to trade for a bat, do we need to contend this year, because with our rotation we have a decent shot in the playoffs. If we do feel the need to swing a trade I think a first baseman is the most obvious position that we could upgrade at, or maybe even second.

What do you guys think, should we try to contend this year, or continue to build? Who should we target? Where should we upgrade? And how much should we give up? Oh and the first person who writes Cain for Fielder in any ridiculous manifestation of their names will be shot. That is all

Fire Brian Sabean

This is not an overreaction to the start of the season, or a knee jerk because he failed (most epically) to trade Cain for Fielder. This is because Brian Sabean has lost his ability to be an effective (affective?) general manager. Whether it is poorly misjudging the free agent market or not having the balls to go through with a trade Sabes has lost it. When you look at his moves over the offseason, every single one rates as a meh or worse so far. And that was his best offseason in years. I get that feeling that the Bochy and sabean dislike young players, The only players they go after now are veterans or over the hill prospects like McPhereson or Phelps. They seem to have no interest in making risk moves or tinkering trying to find a diamond in the rough such as a Pie or a Rich Hill. The Brian Sabean era has been over for a long time now and we need to go in another direction.

I'm not a Yahoo sign up nor am I TAGSAG, I am level headed as I write this and I recognize a need for the winds of change to blow. A possible replacement in my mind is Paul depodesta formerly of the Dodgers, he was run out of town there, but in hindsight he did not make a bad move, and even made astute trades for future productive big leaguers Jayson Werth and Cody Ross. But whoever it may be the Giants need to go in a new direction. Baseball is changing, it is a young mans game now, you can't win with veterans, or a stubborn gm. So please before I see a NEEDZ MOAR CANE 4 FELDER, discuss this, see if you agree. Maybe this is a universally accepted fact here, or maybe people still cling to their old beliefs, but in my mind he needs to go now. He has done a fine job here in the past, but his time is done now, thoughts?

Hi guys I am new to this site and i just want to share some things with you guys, namely how i feel about baseball, what i think about the Giants, and what they should do this offseason.

1. I think the Giants should trade Matt Cain for Prince Fielder, Matt Cain is a losing pitcher who loses a lot. Prince Fielder hits balls very far! This trade is a no-brainer for the Giants, get rid of a LOSER and bring in a SLUGGER.

2. Trade Zito and get rid of his contract, someone will want an ex cy young award winner. Since he used to be good some team will take a chance on him, it will be a chance to get rid of that contract and for us to start over and sign a new free agent.

3. Since we have traded Zito., We can now sign Manny, he also hits balls far and Manny and Fielder would be a great one two punch.

4. Trade Rowand too, maybe for Cameron Maybin or Jason Heyward, idk. Rowand is a great player and a gamer, but he doesn't fit the team right now. Plus if we got rid of his contract we could use that money to sign a free agent pitcher. I'm thinking someone like Jon Garland who actually WINS games unlike someone we know (hint Matt Cain hint).

5. Rush blows

The bottom line is this: baseball is about two things, scoring runs and winning games. That is why you want to have good home run hitters and pitchers who win games on your team. Matt Cain does not win games, he is a loser and i see no "statistics" to prove to me otherwise! Get Fielder in here stat and Manny and dump Cain, see how many more games you win cuz you score more. God i wish more manager generals thought like i did (sigh)
