Colt, Ricky and Vince. One Heisman winner and two should've-been Heisman winners.
Also, a cool video of the three of them with Coach Brown here: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6674103&categoryid=2378529
Horns gettin' it done off the court, too
The Texas men's basketball team impresses in the classroom as well as on the hardwood: Three players were named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team, more than any other school, and one was named to the second team.
Salaries for new assistant coaches
Summary: Come to Texas, make a lot of $.
Jaxon Shipley's spring plans
The two brothers will spend more time together this spring. Jaxon graduated from Brownwood in December. However, instead of enrolling at Texas this semester and getting a head start with the Longhorns in spring drills, he decided to spend time training and learning from his brother.
"Who wouldn't want to train from an NFL receiver," Jaxon said. "You're trying to get as much as information as you can from him and learn from him. We'll be doing a lot of training together, fishing and just hanging out."
Nice article. Can't wait to see him in burnt orange.
Vote for Colt!
After leading the Cleveland Browns to victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday, Colt McCoy is nominated for the NFL's Rookie of the Week.
K. Durant leads USA to gold
Kevin Durant (again) proves he is awesome.
How Colt's career record stacks up
Cool interactive graphic from the Statesman on how Colt's career record compares to Greene, Manning, Young, Applewhite and Simms.
McCoy-Shipley 2.0
Good read on the Brownwood vs. Graham high school game featuring Jaxon Shipley vs. Case McCoy. Another round of "McCoy to his roommate, Shipley, for a touchdown" in a few years??
Arrest warrant issued for Vaccaro
A fight at a pickup basketball game at Gregory leads to an assault arrest warrant. Seriously?
Collins, Scott to miss season
From article: "We’re disappointed for Brandon and Christian that they won’t be able to play this season, but they will continue to practice with the team and work towards earning their degrees, which is the ultimate goal," Brown said. "They both have two years of eligibility remaining so they’ll help us in practice this year and then get back to competing for playing time in the spring."
No more game shuttle
Fyi, for people who use this service.
Gilbert is now second team QB
Bumped. As has been said several times here, Harris needed to show clear separation to make the case over Gilbert. Would be good to see the competition battle stay hot, regardless. No word yet on the severity of Harris' injury. --PB--
Brown will make at least $5.1 million this season
Here's hoping he gets that extra $650,000.
K.Durant to play at Erwin Center once again...
... except this time, as part of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Tar Heels vs. Spartans? Blame Texas
Ridiculous column by Dave Sittler of the Tulsa World, blaming the Longhorns' "slap" and "slug" of Blake Griffin for the Sooners not making it to the championship: "If the Longhorns didn't slap Griffin twice in the face and then slug the nation's best player in the jaw on Feb. 23, the Sooners could easily have been in Monday night's NCAA national championship game."
Mack is changing the game
Kirk Bohls of the American-Statesman on recruiting and how Coach Brown is "breaking new ground in a field that he has long tilled. He wasn't dubbed Coach February for nothing."
Texas-OU, basketball-style.
OU fans rent a plane, too?
Apparently there's a small plane flying over campus with a banner that says, "Mack Brown, quit your whining, u knew the rules." Story here: Mystery plane flying over campus
Seriously? When has Coach Brown whined? He's expressed disappointment in the system and the way things have played out, but whine? No.
At least the 45-35 plane banner had a point.
And, because I need 75 words, would it have broken the bank to add the "y" and the "o" in "u knew the rules"?
Inside information?
Colt and Chase Daniel catch up.
Mack urges fans to be as loud as Missouri game
Let's do it.
Hook 'em, says the Sooner.
