I don't know if you guys have payed any attention to the huge public school scandal that has been uncovered in Atlanta where a '"widespread" conspiracy by teachers, principals and administrators to fix answers on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT), punish whistle-blowers, and hide improprieties' has been uncovered. It's sure to be a huge story in the days to come.

My question is what will happen to the NCAA eligibility of athletes that come from these schools? Would the NCAA pull it from every athlete that came from one of those schools? Do nothing as it was so widespread. (this thing was system wide.) Crack down on only the most obvious and easily proved cheaters?

From what i've read, the cheating was tied to athletics so the kids weren't getting anything any other non-preforming student wasn't getting, so maybe the NCAA will do nothing. What do you guys think?

This startling visage is reportedly from the Saban Statue. Now that Tide Sports is behind the Rivals paywall this is all you can see on the site if you aren't a member. You can find another photo HERE though.

UPDATE: a nice slideshow that includes a little something for the ladies can be found HERE.

It's hard to believe that Auburn has multiple chances to win this.

A pretty entertaining screed written by a disgruntled Georgia fan. Evidently, "Just like an Alabama fan" was used as a slur during a discussion over at Dawg Sports. The guy says that acting like an Alabama fan is exactly what that fan base needs.

He gets some of his facts wrong, but otherwise, i thought it was both a good read and an inciteful look into another fan base's mindset.

Karle and Finebaum with Saban.

I think it's really interesting at the end of this clip that there is now a coalition of Coaches who are working with the NCAA and the NFL on the agent troubles. I'd like to know more about that, frankly.

Roll 'Bama Roll Best McCoy Pic Ever?

ed.- it's hypnotizing...

I don't know if you guys saw this picture of Colt McCoy looking goofy and tossing the pigskin about on EDSBS. I didn't have much to do at work today, so i tried my hand at creating an animated GIF. Lets hope this works.

As you can see, I added a little Marcell Dareus. It just felt like it needed it. Any critiques of this non-masterpiece? (ed.- no.)

Roll 'Bama Roll A 13 team SEC?

Assuming the rumors out of Texas are true, and aTm are really ready and (more importantly really) able to leave the Longhorns to the Pac-16 and join us over here in the Southeastern Conference, would Slive just put the brakes on there? Could the SEC just expand one team to an unbalanced western division? According to ESPNs Joe Schad it's a possibility. " Don't discount SEC at 13 teams as possible."

With the word out that the SEC won't poach teams from the ACC (I assume we don't want to be seen as busting up another conference), i just can't see who else we would take that would be a fit. So How would a 13 team league work?

Roll 'Bama Roll Saturday Night at the Movies

Last night, the old lady and I settled down with our beer and wine to watch the 2009 dark comedy Big Fan starring Patton Oswald. I'll go ahead and admit that the Chicago Q&A that's found in the Special Features on the DVD is way funnier than the film itself, but that's because Patton Oswald is just being his hilarious self, answering the audience questions. If you go out and rent this movie, don't skip this bit.

Okay, end of digression.

In a nutshell, you've got a film about the intensity of fandom. Something we should all know about, being frequenters of this very site. Patton Oswald plays a guy who's happy with his crappy job as a parking lot attendant, because it gives him time to do what he really loves, which is call into sports talk shows. Patton is a NY Giants fan known by his handle "Paul from Staten Island", and frequently gets in verbal wars with Eagles fan "Philadelphia Phil". If you've ever listened to the Finebaum show, you know the type, think I-man v. Jim from Tuscaloosa, or that sort.

Well, one day Patton sees his favorite player at a Mobile station in Staten Island and decides to see where he's going. Oswald follows him to a Manhatten strip club where a meeting with his idol doesn't exactly go as planned.

The characters in this film will be totally familiar to sports fans, listeners or callers to talk radio, or as Oswald points out in the Chicago Q&A, Comic book nerds who travel every wednesday to the comic book store. Basically those of us obsessed with whatever our passion is.

This isn't really a sports movie, it's a character drama that's set against the backdrop of NFL. It's not a great movie either, but it's a very good dark comedy. I recommend it, but be warned: You may see yourself.

3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

I just heard an advert on the Radio that Quotes the review Kleph wrote (as Roll Bama Roll dot Com) for that new Bear Bryant play that coming to the Virginia Samford Theatre. It's also in the print ad. Who'd have thought this little ol' website would ever be used in such a way. Good job guys.

Roll 'Bama Roll Only one more month until Football Season!!

Not good football, not even mediocre Auburn football, but football none the less.

I saw this today in the B'ham News. It seems as if we are getting yet another B-level league to enjoy.  I know by February i will probably be jonesing pretty hard for some sort of pigskin. The price point is right too, I have said it before, but I'd pay ten dollers to watch a monkey play with a football, so i'll sure shell out that much money for this.

Roll 'Bama Roll Beware of Counterfit Tix this weekend....

From Dr. Saturday (the artist formerly known as SMQb) comes this Article.

Apparently a gang of counterfitters hit the Aub v. Corndog affair last weekend and they are making thier way over to Athens, GA.

So, if you were planning on purchasing tickets the way God intended, from some shlub on the street, beware.

I wonder if i hit seventy five words yet?

The answer to that query is no, so i'll just give a big Roll Tide Roll, and lets beat those Dawgs like they just shit on the carpet.

Roll 'Bama Roll How did you enjoy the new concessionier?

I wonder about your specific experiences at the game. Personally, i enjoyed being able to get the 20 oz bottle for "only $4.50".  I do wish they would sell the 'dogs at all stands though, and the BBQ nacho's looked good. i had a sausage with peppers and onions that was pretty good, but really, i'd rather have had just the plain ol' kraut dog with brown sauce.

Hurm, it turns out that the poll isn't counted in the seventy five words, what a jyp.

Roll 'Bama Roll "Twas the Night before Kickoff"

With apologies to Henry Livingston and Santa.

'Twas the night before Kickoff, when all through the south

Not a creature was stirring, not even a I'man's mouth;

The shakers were stacked on the table with care,

My game shirt was laid on the back of a chair;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of touchdowns danced in their heads;

And ma in her jersey, and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a post-Bourbon nap,

When on the flatscreen there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the tube I flew like a flash,

Tore up the remote, it's buttons i mashed.

And there it appeared in warm HD glow,

The first game of the season, how apropos.

Then, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But those college men, whose team i hold dear.

With a head coach, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Coffee! now, Andre! now, Arenas and Johnson!

On, Julio! on Terry! on, Dont'a and Wilson!

From deep behind the line, stay on top of the ball!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, the crack of helmets resounds in the sky,

So into the endzone the coursers they flew,

that's six for the Tide, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, late in the game, I wanted to spit

Our QB was down -- A total late hit.

As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,

Down the field St. Nicholas came with a bound.

HIs shirt was in Crimson, the shade of our school,

The crowd was electric, more amped than a joule;

A straw hat he had crushed in his fist,

And he looked deranged. Man, was he pissed!

His eyes -- how they glowered! his brow was in knots!

His teeth they were bared, like a dog in need of it's shots!

His sharp toothed mouth was drawn back in a sneer,

You could tell the refs wanted to be anywhere but here.

Before he could march halfway across the field,

Those poor ol' refs, they did yield;

Down went the flag, Fifteen yards for the Tide

Automatic first down, JP was up and in stride.

We went on to score the very next play,

And I laughed when I saw it, Man, what a great day;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Saban let us know we had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

Chewing out reporters who think him a jerk,

"I'll try to explain it, aight, for those who are slow"

"It's all part of the process, it's how this team's going to grow."

Then he sprang to his bus, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

"Merry Kickoff to all, and to all a Roll Tide."
