Halos Heaven I'm An Idiot Rangers Fan!

Howdy yall! I have come here to invade your blog and yes, I am a TEXAS RANGERS fan! I have lived in both California and Texas and I currently live in Dallas! I wanted to throw a few things out there for all of you..

The Texas Rangers are better than the Angels in pitching, offense, bullpen, EVERYTHING!

The City of Dallas >>>> The city of LA. 'nuff said!

Texas>>>>California

Our women >>>>> your women

You guys got our sloppy seconds when yall signed CJ Wilson while we straight stole your prize in NAPOLI! Remember that HR he hit against you guys in the final game of the season last year? Remember how he helped us reach the WS last year? YUUUU mad?! ;)

Finally, the future looks a lot brighter for Texas than for yall. We could easily lose Nelly, Colby, Young, and Hamilton and still be contenders based off our farm system and our ownership being loaded with money. We've got PROFAR coming up soon...mother effin PROFAR...oh yeah, and Mike Olt. Well, ball is in your court LA. We'll see you guys this weekend in your piece of crap ballpark.

PS- I dare you not to ban me and actually indulge in a fan debate with me. Man up! After all, this is a rivalry and what fun would it be if the fans of the teams didn't take shots at one another on their respected blogs? :D

Lone Star Ball Let's play GM for a year or two...

Howdy guys and gals! Being a Business major and a Business man, I love to talk about money and turnover. When it comes to OUR Texas Rangers, that's no different. So I figured we'd play GM. Let's say today you were called to be the GM of the Rangers with no limit, what would you do and why? Below is a list of things I would do starting this offseason...

Here are the FA I would allow to walk:

Colby Lewis

Josh Hamilton

Koji

Yorvet

Here are the FA I would try and sign:

Hammels

greinke

Here are the moves I would make starting in 2013 and 2014:

Move Kinsler to LF

Promote Profar to 2B

Promote Martin to CF

Resign Nelly and Elvis to longterm deals (no more than 4 years for Nelly though)

Promote Olt to 3B

Move Beltre to 1B

Promote Martin Perez to the big leagues and give him a shot at starting.

Promote Ramirez

Trade Young and Harrison...or simply let Young walk when he becomes a FA

With all that, by 2014 opening day, my lineup and rotation look like this:

CF- Martin

LF- Kinsler

3B- Olt

1B- Beltre

RF- Nelly

C- Napoli

SS- Elvis

DH- Insert FA signing

2B- Profar

Rotation:

Yu

Holland

Greinke

Feliz

Perez/Ramirez

Closer:

OGANDO

Lone Star Ball Rangers roster beyond 2012

LSB's favorite poster is back again for a post that I'm sure will get massive heat but I speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. First off, LA, YU mad?! eff LA, their fans, and their team. Now that I've got that off my chest and I've thrown the first punch in the fan feud, I want to talk about BIGGER and BETTER things....

As many of you know, after this season, Hamilton, Lewis, and Naps are all FA. Many people are worried about "the core" I say it's simple. After YU signs, we push hard and sign Prince Fielder. We package Harrison along with Hamilton for somebody this year. We move Mitch to RF for 2012, Martin in CF, and Cruz in LF. After 2013, we've got Young, Cruz, Kinsler, and Murphy coming off the books. Again, that's easy; We sign Kinsler and let the others walk and/or package them in a trade during the 2013 season before they hit Free agency. We move Kinsler to LF and bring up Profar during the 2014 season.

So in 2014 I invision we have the following Line-up give or take trades or FA signings..

LF- Kinsler

CF- Martin

RF- one of the latin players we signed this past year

1B- Fielder

2B- Profar

SS- Elvis

3B- Beltre/Olt

DH- Beltre/Olt

C- Naps

Rotation

YU

Holland

Feliz

Perez

Hamels/Greinke (signed as FA or traded for sometime before 2014)

That allows us to stay fairly young and in contention, go out and sign/trade for BIG names, and we let our older/more injury prone players walk without them hampering us with a long term deal.

Happy holidays to all of you and your families

GO RANGERS!

Lone Star Ball Questions for 2012

I come here with an olive branch.  Not to incite, but to ask questions and root for my favorite baseball team, the Texas Rangers.

In regards to the 2012 season, I was wondering if anyone knew if the Rangers are going to be adding, remodeling, etc to the Ballpark in Arlington as they did last year.  I heard a few things and I was just wondering if anybody knew anything.  Also, does anyone know if the Rangers are going to be adding/taking away a uniform or changing their current uniforms up?  I heard that they will go with more red than blue.  I am excited about this year and I hope it ends with the Rangers doing what my beloved Mavs did, and that's winning the title and bringing it home.

Lone Star Ball Your 2012 Texas Rangers....

I'd like to play GM of the Rangers for a minute (JD, I'm coming for your job, son!) and let's fast forward to the offseason. This is what I would do if I were the Rangers GM and had the money to do so...

sign Albert Pujol

trade for Zack Greinke and Loriano

With that, now you've got this at your starting line-up in 2012..

ss- Andrus

2b- Kinsler

LF- Hamilton

1b- Pujol

RF- Cruz

3b- Beltre

DH- Murphy/Napoli

C- Torrealba

CF- Engel Beltre

starting 5 SP..

Greinke

Loriano

Wilson

Lewis

Hurley

With that team, I'd say they could win 2 or 3 WS championships and be in contention year in and year out.  Ofcourse to get some of these players, Perez, Holland, Schappers, and Profar are dealt.

PS- for the 2012 or 2013  season (whenever we can via MLB rules) I would get new uniforms...I'd keep the same design but just switch up the blue with Red and do away with the blue alternate tops all together and keep those just for Spring Training.

tooooooodles, LSBers

Lone Star Ball Ranger uniforms

Hello, Comrads!

I heard last season Nolan saying something along the lines of "we need to get a uniform style/color and stick to it." Now I want to know, are the Rangers planning new uniforms for the upcoming season? Will they be red or blue? I personally think the Rangers should go back to the red. Keep the uniforms they have now but instead of blue, make 'em red. I like the current look. Also, keep an alternate blue jersey that they wear on "special occasions" The Rangers should also wear more of their throwback uni's. I think the baby blue powder ones were pretty neato myself. So I pose these question to LSBers....

what colors should the rangers wear?

What style of uni would you design if you were in charge?

do you prefer the blue or the red?

Also, does anyone have any new videos about the ballpark improvements happening at the moment? I'm pretty stoked about all that.

Godd day, lads

Lone Star Ball Josey Wales aint got nothing on me!

This past year was quite an exciting year in Ranger land.  We got to see Texas make it to the WS and come oh so very close to winning it all.  I'm pretty stoked about the signing of Beltre and I hope the Rangers make one more trade either now or at thr Deadline for a SP. With that said, I think I have preached from day one on here what we are seeing the Rangers doing now.  The team they are putting together is exactly how I called it. So now a few more AK suggestions to JD and the crew (Im sure they read my posts)...

I would love in a few years for this team to let either Hamilton or Cruz walk via FA. Resign only one of the two and then bring up Beltre to take over for whomever leaves. Stick him in CF and watch the kid become the next BIG thing.  Move Perez into our rotation in 2013 and then go out and sign a TORP. Now you've got the TORP, Perez, Wilson (resign him) Feliz, and Holland.

Ps- DO NOT GIVE UP ON CHRIS DAVIS...the guy can play but he just needs to learn to be patiente at the plate.

Ahmad...............out!

Lone Star Ball Rangers BallPark in Arlington

I heard earlier in the season that during the offseason the Rangers plan on doing some upgrade work to the ballpark. I believe the plan was to add 4 or more video boards and scoreboards in the outfield above the office. Does anyone know if this is still going to happen considering tom cheepicks not having/wanting to spend any money? also, what's the deal with the grass at our park? many patches are worn out and look horrible both on tv and when you go out there. I was there last week for a game against the twins and i hated how the field looked. Does anyone know when/if they will get the grass issue fixed and what offseason plans they have for the ballpark?

The Cowboys just opened their stadium and they've got the huge board and now the Mavs and Stars are putting up new HD video boards at the AAC that no other team in the NBA and NHL have. Isn't it time for the Ballpark to upgrade in a BIG HD way?

Lone Star Ball I want an NL team in Dallas!

How about that? What do you guys say to an NL team in Dallas. It would be similar to two teams in Chicago, New York, and LA. I vote taking one of the current teams in the NL not making enough money (Marlins come to mind) and building them a brand new stadium with a retractable roof in downtown Dallas. Dallas gets a team and the Rangers have a cross town rival. The fans and both clubs would love the competation. Think of the money that it would draw for the city and the teams. The bragging rights, etc. I would move them to the NL central and move the Rangers to the AL central. I would also move a few teams around as well into different divisions. I know it's a crazy idea, but I'm a fan of baseball and I'd love to see a second team in the metroplex.

Lone Star Ball Worried about JD & the roster...

Ok, we all know the Rangers have played above expectations thus far and that's great! With that said..I worry that come July if this team is in 1st place or a few games back that JD and his staff will make a stupid 3 month rent-a-player trade and give up some of our young prospects.  I see it like this, the Rangers this year have a 0% chance at winning the WS. But next year, that chance goes up to about 20% and then 50% by 2011 and so forth. Point being, I think the Rangers should sign Ben Sheets after the ASB and that can count as the "missing piece" for this years club making a playoff push. If they can find a nice and young bullpen arm for cheap (lower level, low ceiling prospect) then I'm all for it.

By the end of this year, this club will be in a golden position. They will have Padilla, Blalock, Byrd, everyday Eddie, and possibly Millwood coming off the books (I think Milly is back next year)

With that money, they can go out and try to land a free agent bullpen arm or two and then fill the other gaps from within. You replace Blalock with CD and bring up Smoak to take over 1B. You replace Byrd with Beltre. You replace Padilla with Sheets.

I really hope JD and company hold out on making any trades and risking the future of this club for a shot this year. I don't trust JD or Hicks much. I think next year's club will be ready to contend and possibly be the AL west favorites coming out of Spring Training.

SP

Sheets

Millwood

Holland

McCarthy

Harrison

and you'll have Hurley, Feliz, Hunter, etc ready to come up during the season or fill in for any injuries.

Lineup

CF-Beltre

RF-Hamilton

LF-Cruz

SS-Andrus

3B-Young

2B-Kinsler

1B-Smoak

C-Salty/Teagarden

DH-Davis/MaxRam

Please don't do anything stupid JD!

Lone Star Ball OT: Swine Flu

I'm sure you all have heard/read/saw about the swine flu. Everytime I turn on the tv, it's being talked about. Same goes for the radio. Online every site is talking about it. It has me pretty creeped out honestly. I'm now carrying hand sanitizer and washing my hands every 15 minutes. I freak out when someone coughs or sneezes close to me.

I guess my question to you all is..what do you all think about this whole Swine Flu outbreak? Will it get worse? will it become a serious virus worldwide? Is it being overly done and overly reported, and are we over reacting?

Are you scared of getting it? Are you freaking out and washing your hands all the time and avoiding hand shakes, etc?

There are many questions when it comes to this and I just thought I'd get the views of the LSBers.

Lone Star Ball Hicks looking to sell part of Rangers & Stars

awesome news!

He might be selling parts of the team which I think would be great news! Maybe Cuban can buy part of the Rangers and then buy Hicks out. This man is cheap and does not care about winning or the fans. He has a pathetic team salary for a big market team. I would love Nolan and Cuban to buy shares and invest their money into this team. If that happens I see the Rangers bringing in the best players to go along with their young players and building a winning and entertaining team for years to come.

Lone Star Ball The Ballpark

hola amigo's and amiga's!

LSB's favorite anti-hero is back! I figure since school was cancelled today and the roads are icy and I have a few extra minutes I would right a diary about certain things.

Let's start with the RBIA...

I read and saw the changes coming to the ballpark and I like them. However, I don't understand why they are keeping the same tired scoreboard above right field. They need a new board, one like the one down in Austin would be pretty sweet!  I also think that they should really focus on making the outfield walls match and keeping them the same color. It looks horrible and cheap on TV when you have multi colored green wall.  I also propose that the wall behind home plate become brick (like houston, philly, baltimore, etc) What do y'all think and do you propose any changes you would like taken at the RBIA.

Now the new uni's...

I like 'em! I like the new red, the new homes and roads, I am so-so on the all blue and the batting helmet is whack but it could grow on me. I really wish they brought back the all blue cap with the red 'T' I like the black shoes and belts and I like the style of font they have used on them.

On the Roster for next season and 2010...

I think they should go out and get Sheets, trade padilla now and keep Millwood until the All-star break and then trade him at that time. I hope they can trade a catcher to Boston for Bucholtz (sp?) and then going into the second half of the season and 2010 they can have a rotation of...

Sheets

Bucholtz

Neftali

Holland

Harrison/McCarthy/Hurley/

The line-up for 2010 can be...

C-Teagarden or Salty (whoever stays)

1B- Smoak

2B- Kinsler

3B- Young

SS- Andrus

CF- Borboun

RF- Hamilton

LF- Cruz/Murphy

DH- C.Davis

the manager should be Bobby Valentine

Lone Star Ball Randy Johnson will NOT be a Ranger!

Good news for the Rangers in my opinion. The Big Unit will not be  a Ranger and instead is going to the SF Giants.  The Rangers need to stick to the youth movement and play and develop their young pitchers.  Someone like Randy would have blocked one of our young pithcers we need to find out about.  Now if we can only trade Millwood and Padilla and sign Sheets and insert another young arm to take Padilla's slot we would be in good shape for the future.  Link below boys and gals...

Lone Star Ball Ballpark

I know boys and girls..it's been a while since I posted but that's what happens when school and work take over your life.  Today's topic at hand will be whether or not the Rangers should consider going to the City of Dallas or Ft. Worth and seeing if they can get a retractable roof park in one of the downtowns.  Would you be for it? against it? I personally think that would be awesome and solve a lot of this teams problems.  Economics aside, would you support that idea and why so?

Also, I strongly favor this team trading away milly, padilla, young, and blalock and signing sheets.

Lone Star Ball State of the Rangers

Good afternoon/evening to my loyal readers and fans on LSB!

As another bad Rangers season draws to a close I thought that maybe I would throw out a few suggestions to improving this franchise.  Feel free to add any suggestions that you have.  Sure some of you will completly over look this post and "run your mouths" but that's what you get when you're Ahmad.  Anywho here we go...

I suggest the following be done in the next 1-3 years with the Rangers

Move Hamilton to RF and have Bourbon in CF and Cruz in LF.  Move Young to 3rd and Davis back to 1st.  Bring up Andrus to play SS and keep Kinsler at 2nd for now at least.  Have Teagarden as your C and have Salty backing him up.  Put MaxRam as your everyday DH and 3rd Catcher.

Release, trade, or do not resign the following:

Bradley

Byrd

Cat

Padilla

Milwood

Laird

Fire Ron Washington and Hire Mike Hargrove.

Let the following be your starters and take thier lumps:

McCarthy

Hurley

Harrison

Hunter

Holland

Let Feldman become your long man out of the pen and have CJ become the set up man.  Frankie stays on as the closer.

Pick up Blalock's opition this year and then trade him at the trading deadline in July of 2009 for w/e you can get for him.  By then I believe his value as a strong hitter and average 1B would be able to bring you something in return.

Remodel the RBIA.  I would like the walls in the outfield to be more like the style of walls they have in Cleveland, Philly, or Baltimore.  Bring in a new scoreboard kind of like the one the Royals now have.  Let the Infield and outfield grass grow a little longer to slow down ground balls.  (I have heard many out of town announcers talk about how short the grass is here and how that effects the speed of the ball)

Change up the Uni's.  I don't care, red or blue..something needs to be done and they need to have "less boring" jersey's.  Their current looks is one of the ugliest and dullest  in Major League Baseball.

Rant on bitchesssssssssssssss

Lone Star Ball Red is back!

Looks like the Rangers will alter their jersey's going into next season.  I'm not sure what exactly they will do but I do know they will bring back the red, well kind of.  They will keep the blue and have an alternate red jersey with the red cap.  What else do yall think they should do to "tweak" their look?  I know the story is from last week but I have been overly busy and just had the chance to post it.

Lone Star Ball Couple of things..

Good day to you all.

Well, the Hurricane was not as bad as expected (Thank God) and Crude Oil Prices fell about $4 today so that is deff. good news.  At the Mosque I attend they are planning on opening it up for Refugee's and have already spoken to the Police Department and agreed to everything.  If you have any info about Refugee places anywhere in the area post them on here and spread the word in case anyone knows anyone that needs a place to stay.  Thanks!

Second thing...Today marks the start of the blessed Month of Ramadan for myself and Billions of Muslims worldwide.  We refrain from all food, drink, sex, and smoke (if you smoke that is) from sunrise to sunset.  Also during this blessed month we have special Night Prayers at the Mosque and also if you would like you can get up and pray for half the night.

So if anyone of you would like to see how it feels you can fast for a day.  This program is currently done at TCU by the Muslims Student Association where non-Muslims fast along with the Muslims for a day or several days and share our breaking of the fast meal when the sunsets.  It has been a great success thus far.

Lone Star Ball The Ballpark In Arlington & Their Look

I know this was touched on last week but it got me thinking and I wanted to say a few things about the issue.  I don't think the Rangers need another park nor do they need a roof on their current one.  I do however think RBIA needs a few things made over and here are my suggestions.  Feel free to add yours in as well.... I will also touch on the jersey issue

RBIA...

Push the walls back and subtract some outfield seats

Make the wall one color of dark green

Remove all those ugly ads all over the walls, only keeping a few

Grow the grass longer (ground balls will be slower thus improving our infield D)

New screens and sound system

Plant some small trees or flowers or anything nice in the outfield grass area (not all of it, just the bottom park)

If not trees add a water fall and rocks type deal out their or swimming pool

Now the Jersey's...

Give the all blue jersey a re-make and change it up a bit

Bring back the second cap the with red "T" it would really go well with the sleeve less jersey's

Make all their jersey's more edgy and more cool looking to wear (currently they are very blah looking and boring)

Change the way Texas and Rangers are written across their jersey's

Those are just a few off the top of my head.  Please feel free to add your 2 cents about the issue.  Thank you and good day DFW.

Lone Star Ball Davis @ 3rd and Blalock @ 1st

As the title states Chris Davis will be moving to 3rd base and Hank Blalock upon his return will become the Rangers 1st basemen for the rest of the year (if he stays healthy) and perhaps next year.

HUGE news there.  I have mixed feelings about this move but I also think that in the long term this could work.  Davis could go to 3rd and Blalock can have his option picked up for next year and hopefully can stay healthy and be the Rangers everyday 1st basemen next year.  Then in 2010 Smoak can come up and become our everyday 1st basemen and Davis will be across at 3rd with Kinsler at 2nd and Young or Andrus (I think they trade him for pitching) at SS.

Lone Star Ball 3 trades to make before next spring

Greetings from under this hot rag.

I want to propose the following trades and see if you would make those trades and if you think it would improve your Texas Rangers in 2009 and beyond.

Trade Uno

Marlins and Rangers..

Marlins get: Elvis Andrus, Eric Hurley, and Nelson Cruz

Rangers get: Hanley Ramirez

Trade Dos

Reds and Rangers..

Reds get: Gerald Laird

Rangers get: Homer Bailey

Trade Tres

Royals and Rangers..

Royals get: a pick of one of our top pitchers in the minors NOT named Neftali (sp?), Blalock, Salty, and another top to med minor leaguer

Rangers get: Zack Greinke

That would give us two solid arms and an All-Star SS for years to come.  We can then move MY to 3rd and have an infield of MY, Ramirez, Kinsler, Davis.

Our Catcher would then be Teagarden

Our 5 would be Greinke, Bailey, Padilla, Millwood, McCarthy with Harrison and Hunter ready to step in in the minors.  We could then move Feldman and Mendoza to the Bullpen and let Eddie walk in the off season and try and trade Benoit.

It would weaken our minor league system no doubt but we would greatly upgrade our MLB team with young and proven talent.

I would also resign MB only if he can play the OF 70% of the time next year and beyond because I want MaxRam as my backup catcher and everyday DH.

Lone Star Ball 3 days away...

With the 'ol so famous trade period nearing its peek I decided to propose a trade.  If i'm GM for a day and wanted to fix this team this is what The Ahmad would do...

call Boston and offer them Laird, Padilla, and Byrd for Manny Ramirez and a prospect.

Second, I would offer Millwood to anyone and eat half of his contract just to get him out of here.

Third, I would offer Bradley( hate to lose him, but to get some, you have to give some) and a prospect to the Twins for one of their top prospects, namely Loriano (sp)

Come the off season, I would go out and try to sign both CC and Sheets and resign Manny.  I would then roll in 2009 with the following

2B- Kinsler

SS- Young

CF- Hamilton

RF- Manny/ JMJ

1B- Davis

C- Salty

DH- MaxRam/ Manny

LF- Boggs/ Murphy

My 5 would be..

CC

Sheets

McCarthy

Hurley

Harrison/ Hunter

My manager would be anyone but Washington.

That teams would contend and would draw.  Oh, I would also bring back the black and blue hat and the Blue hat with the Red "T"

I would also change the Ballpark a little bit.  I would get rid of all those signs all over the walls, I would add another Jumbotron, and I would grow the grass a little longer.  I don't get why they keep the grass so short.  The longer the grass the better the fielding will be.

Lone Star Ball LSB..

Ok.  So I have been debating/arguing/hated on/trashed/dissed/annoyed people/etc during my 6 months or so here on LSB and I believe it is now time for me to take the next step...

I have noticed lots of people trashing others opinions if they don't agree with theirs.  I have noticed "the powers on this site" coming off as rude at times and as know it alls at other times.

With that said..I believe LSB needs saving from itself and it's members and I believe they need someone like me to take control of it.  I don't wanna be in charge..I mean more along the lines of keep it in line and keep people respecting one another and that kind jazz.

I am The Ahmad and I am here offering my services.  I think we should have a vote and put this to the people.
