"Georges' relationship with Gatorade has recently expanded into the U.S., where he will be featured in a national print campaign launching July 1 that includes Rolling Stone and outdoor advertising in the New York City and Los Angeles markets," St-Pierre's manager, Shari L. Spencer, told ESPN.com. "We're excited that this relationship now reaches his fans in the U.S. as well as in Canada, and we're proud to be part of the Gatorade team."

"I did well in the fight," said Silva in Portuguese. "I can't always make you happy."

Silva continued his condemnation of Montreal's vocal MMA fans.

"Not everyone understands what they are watching," Silva said. "But hey, you guys can boo if you want. You are paying my salary."

To his credit, Silva did what he needed to do to emerge victorious against a BJJ black belt the caliber of Leites. For all fans know, he may have executed his gameplan perfectly.

"I have a lot of respect for Leites' ground game," he said. "I trained with him and Andre Pederneiras before and their school is a good one. I did my job. It's not always what you want."

CBS Columnist Praises Dana As a "Mother Theresa"

This is one of the best complimentary pieces I have read.

Once again UFC head Dana White demonstrates something that has been known for some time, yet most people are afraid to say: White is an awful human being that lacks basic human decency.

This week we saw yet another example of this as White belched some of the most hateful and misogynistic statements we've ever heard a public sports figure make.

Fagan, you're going to love how he got this story:

In a story first reported by UFC writer Maggie Hendricks, White, on a video blog, describes another woman reporter -- who wrote a story critical of White -- as a "f------ dumb bitch." Also in this video rant, White goes to describe the reporter's source as a "f------ faggot."

I didn't know Ms Hendricks writes for UFC. Did you? And, he also admires MMA fans as well.

Dana White is garbage, his sport is garbage and anyone who watches it is a garbage collector.

I would not mind being a garbage collector they make a good living. And, it gets better.

It seems UFC fans support whatever White does, no matter how ill conceived or arrogant or manipulative or ugly. He's got an army of sheep following him.

Baaaaaa.

White says (expletive) jump and fans say, "How (expletive) high, Mr. White?"

Fans ask "can I get you some coffee, Mr. White? A drink perhaps? A little sucking of the toes, Mr. White?"

The interesting thing is White and his supporters all believe they're tough guys. White wears a tight T-shirt, sports a bad haircut and screams about women and thinks he's a Navy S.E.A.L. He's not alone with the tough guy act. When I wrote about the MMA some time ago, a handful of the sport's fans got hold of my home phone number, called me at home, screamed into the phone that my MMA column was terrible, and then hung up. Very gutsy, people, very gutsy.

In actuality, White, the UFC and many of its fans are thin-skinned babies who can't take an ounce of the criticism they dish out.

You'll see the message board below light up with anonymous threats and various anonymous insults. That's what happened last time. Some of those postings, I believe, were from anonymous UFC officials and others associated with the sport.

No act of attempted intimidation will change the fact that White's comments are so far out of bounds, so extremist, that there should be significant repercussions for him.

But that would take guts and White really doesn't have any. Nor is there anyone around him to make him pay. White is an empire of one.

Another day, another White f-bomb tirade, this time with women bashing tossed in to boot.

And you know what UFC fans will do?

They'll applaud and keep watching.

I don't think it would be a stretch to say, another Vlog is forthcoming.

Jon Fitch: For the sake of Western Civilization, GSP Needs To Win To Prevent Anarchy in the UFC

Okay, Jon Fitch didn’t quite go overboard expressing his concerns about what a possible BJ Penn victory would do to offset both the 170lb and 155lb divisions in the UFC. But in a perfect world for Fitch and other welterweights and lightweights in the UFC, a GSP win is needed to keep order both divisions. Fitch does not have to be a mastermind promoter to know that a Penn win will pretty much guarantee a third encounter between the two top pound-for-pound fighters, following two successful title defenses from Penn and rebound victory from GSP. With UFC 94 being sold-out and the company expected to set a record breaking buy rate, it’s inevitable that rubber match has happen if this scenario were to play out this way.

Raw Vegas Video

Assuming a GSP win and if Fitch gets past Akihiro Gono and his opponents after him, I am not sure where he goes from there in the title picture. I’m not saying this because GSP destroyed him, but because his AKA teammates, Josh Koscheck and Mike Swick, are also expected to be in title contention sometime this year and the following. Either way, I think it’s going to be a while before Fitch actually receives title shot. But on lighter note, it is good to see Fitch is in good spirits after getting caught in the fire in the whole AKA-Dana White conflict.

Did UFC 92 crush UFC 91 in PPV Buys?

According to Dana White's interview with Ryan Hockensmith in ESPN The Magazine:

What are the ramifications of a Georges St.-Pierre win against BJ Penn? And what if Penn wins?

I'm not worried about that; I'm worried about the fight itself. I think it's going to be the biggest fight we've ever done. The last Lesnar pay-per-view did really well, and then our Dec. 27 show crushed it.

When you say it crushed it, are we talking a million buys for Griffin/Evans?

I don't want to get into numbers too much—that's our policy. But it crushed it. I'll say this: The Christmas show crushed the Lesnar fight by 150,000-175,000 buys.

If what White is saying is accurate, I'm not sure what to think. There was not really a strong push on ESPN. Both Jackson and Griffin are big names amongst the casual audience, but I never considered them no where near to be a huge draw as Brock Lesnar. As MMA Convert points, it possible that the fans that Lesnar brought over were blown away from UFC 91 and didn't mind dropping another 50 bucks on the December show. I don't know what did it, but if that is the case UFC is officially the undisputed leader in mixed martial arts and every hardcore fan, and the MMA Media(Sherdog, Josh Gross, Sam Caplan) need to face reality that no one is ever giving UFC competition.

I'm guessing UFC will go all out push for St. Pierre vs Penn II. I'm curious to see how much coverage they will get on ESPN considering it is Super Bowl week. With this fight being build as the most important fight in the history of the sport, it's possible that they can top some where in the 2 million category. Hey, I know I'm being overly optimistic, but it's possible. Maybe, there is something to Dana White's "In due time UFC will be bigger than World Cup Soccer and the NFL." Anyway, UFC, job well done.

HT: MMA Convert

Ken Shamrock's Cut Sort of Stemmed From Not Getting...An Extra Cut

Fronted by Luke Thomas.

In case you are wondering why Jared Shaw questioned whether Shamrock’s wound above his eye was self inflicted, there was evidence prior to the injury that had given him reason to believe the former.

In this week’s Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer reported that Shamrock was extremely pissed that Kimbo Slice was making a considerable amount of money for the fight, made an attempt before the show to get a large undisclosed amount.

While blowing off some steam after being denied the extra money, Shamrock started rolling around and end up getting cut, thus, forcing him to withdraw from the main event.

It's understandable why Shamrock wanted to be paid more, if not, as much as Slice because after all, he is a pioneer of the sport, and is a big name among casual fans from his UFC and WWE days. But, it would of been a better idea to make these demands before the fight was signed, considering he held more leverage when Elite XC was the one looking for a credible, but beatable opponent for Kimbo.

Although Shaw Jr. refused to throw Shamrock under the bus and previously denied claims when he was questioned whether Shamrock demanded more money in interviews with MMA Rated and ESPN 1100 , it was pretty clear there was something to his suspicions when he openly suggested whether Shamrock cut himself intentionally to possibly get out of the fight.

Despite the fact that the Pro Elite staff hinted that they will not be sending Shamrock any holiday greetings cards in the future because of the disaster that was caused as a result of him getting cut, him and the promotion will cross paths next month in Elite XC’s: Night of Champions in Reno, NV, which is considered Shamrock’s back yard. The undercard will feature tons of local fighters from Shamrock’s “Lion’s Den” gym which also includes Shamrock son Ryan.
