An interesting look at some marquee matchups (and a fizzler right before the trade deadline), FOUR of which are Sabres games.

Includes looks at who has a shot at the Calder, a couple division/conference decided games (or so he thinks) and Bamford's prediction of who will make it to the medal round.

Die By The Blade Another back-to-back

This is something Buffalo is becoming accustomed to, as this is the fourth of five straight back-to-back weekends for the Sabres.  What is different is that this weekend is the only one in that stretch that both teams are division opponents.   While the Sabres have 3 games in hand against the B's, Boston is still only 3 points back from the Division leader.  Tomorrow night will see a clash with the Senators, who trail by only 2 points.

If the Sabres can sweep this weekend, which seems to be a pretty tall order, paired with the fact that Ovie has returned to the Caps in time to face off against the Habs, Buffalo could very well put some separation between themselves and the rest of the division.  However, if one or two games don't go our way, we could see a potential log-jam to form in the Northeast.

With this in mind, do we think we will see an appearance by Patrick Lalime this weekend, or will Ryan get the starts straight on through next Saturday when we can give Patrick a shot at the worst-in-the-league Hurricanes?
