Black Shoe Diaries Cancelled: Wednesday's "Evening With Joe" In Philadelphia

[A little light editing from me.  This is beyond "just a little concerning" at this point, is it not?  He missed a similar May 11 function in Pittsburgh and was a late scratch from a May 27 event in Hershey. - RUTS]

The Philadelphia event scheduled for this Wednesday is off.  Joe didn't show for some of the others, and I think we were all hoping he was doing better and would make an appearance.  Here are the details from the Alumni Association:

We are sorry to tell you that the “Evening with Joe” scheduled for Wednesday, June 16, in Philadelphia has been canceled. Coach Joe Paterno has been bothered by the lingering effects of an adverse reaction to antibiotic treatment for dental work, in addition to recovering from a recent bout of intestinal flu, and will not be able to participate.

All registration fees will be refunded. If you paid by credit card, you will receive an e-mail confirming your refund. If you paid by check, you will receive a refund by mail. All refunds will occur within four weeks.

The Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club apologize for this inconvenience.

Some players have to go to extraordinary lengths.

Penn State listed as one of the "Last Four Out", although this should probably be described as the "First Four Out".

Also from the article:
"Penn State had a nice two-win week, but we still had to leave them out of the field. They have picked up some nice wins in conference but they will need at least 10 Big Ten wins to have any chance at a bid since they have no OOC resume to speak of. With the schedule they have left, we just can't see them getting to 10-8 in conference, nevermind 11-7. Some may be surprised that we went with Wisconsin over the Nittany Lions. The Badgers have dropped four straight, but we think they will get this back on track and shouldn't have too much trouble getting to nine wins in conference, which would be enough for a bid given their solid RPI."
