Joe McEwing has apparently retired.

It's a sad day for our game. The heralded 'Joe McEwing Era' of baseball has apparently come to a silent but deadly end. There's little doubt in my mind that this would be headling sports shows around the nation. However, Randy Moss (allegedly) and Pacman Jones can't stop punching women, Colts fans can't stop booing 14 year-old girls, Philip Rivers can't stop being a douchebag and Roger Clemens can't stop not getting any respect and being pissed about it.

I shed a tear, although I can't even really remember anything specific He did for the team when He was here. In fact, the only thing I can think of is Bob Davis saying "hey, there's Joe McEwing... at first...," as though the Notorious B.O.B. couldn't even think of anything of note McEwing has ever done.

Who do you think will be the next Royal-of-Great-Significance to retire?

From the diaries. Something to get you going on this Monday morning. If you haven't already, take 10 seconds and register for a FREE account so you can start commenting and posting diaries. -Chris

I've been meaning to post this for a while now. A friend of mine got a DUI a while back and somehow managed to get the ticket signed by Jared Allen. Say what you will about the man, but that's just classic and commendable poor taste.

Now he just needs to have Mike Vick sign his kennel...

Anyone else goin? At least this time we'll start with someone who has a decent shot of staying on the team throughout this year (here's lookin' at you, Affeldt). Sadly I left my Rey Mysterio mask and sombrero in Lawrence, so look for a gaggle of drunk fellows in RF. Or rather, look for a traveling chorus of drunk fellows. Pizza Hut Seat Upgrade can suck it. We'll do it ourselves...

Anywho, I look forward to watching Odie dominate the Sox and having the 'pen blow it in the late innings. I also can't wait for the opportunity to see Gordo get his average above .140. You heard it here first.

Maybe it's the fact that I'm bored (and have a liter of rum & cola in me), but anywho.

Who's your favorite Non-Royal?

For some reason, I find myself rooting for Nick Swisher (A's) pretty consistently. On another note, let's see someone else spell 'consistently' while they're drunk.

Don't judge me.

XOXOXO
