Profilers Mockery Draft
This is NOT a mock draft. In fact I hate your mock drafts all of you haha. Kidding...Or am I ? Anyway I decided it was time for me to once again make a mockery of the entire process. Ala Mel Kiper only my draft will be stupid on purpose.
Does Heart mean anything in the draft anymore?

Detroit Lions finally get offensive line help
Well sorta anyways. Martin Mayhew has finalized as trade that will send San Francisco's Anthony Davis to the Detroit Lions for a 4th round draft pick. You may remember Davis he had a war of words on twitter with Cliff Avril after they played the Lions this last season. Davis has been a solid producer on there offensive line for that last few years. No word on what the cap number of Davis will be but the Lions should be able to carry him with no problem. Should be very interesting to see if our defensive line can get along with Mr. Davis and the dimension this will add to the Niners Lions game this coming season. I for one hate the man but what can ya do.

The Tulloch problem
I'm not a cap expert nor do I care to be but I will say the likely hood of Stephen Tulloch being a Detroit Lion next year seems very unlikley to me. I have felt that this would be the scenario for a very long time but with free agency looming and Calvin Johnsons contract still not being adressed I think it's time to come to terms with it. Tampa want's Tulloch and they have alot of cap to spend so we can't get in a bidding war with them. Now I won't say never but I'm going to say Stephen Tulloch has been a great asset but it's been real man thanks for stopping by. The Lions will be again looking for the starting MLB of the defense again. Free agency has some good options that I feel can save us some cap room and not take a giant step backwards. So how do the Lions replace Stephen Tulloch ? It can be done Tulloch is good but he's nothing that is irreplaceable.
Draft Prospects ( Open Thread )
Thought it would be cool to have an open thread where we can discuss draft prospects. Not just for the Lions but all of the prospects.
I for one am quickly becoming an RG III fan. I was already, but after I seen his interview with Mooch on NFL net it locked me in. Now I like Luck no question but there is something about RG that really draws me to him. The guy is the best parts of Vick, Cam and Mcnabb to me. No not cause of his skin color either. He has the speed and athleticism that only compares to vick, He has the big arm and deep ball accuracy that Cam has and the leadership and humble attitude that I love about Mcnabb. I would draft Griffin this year with no hesitation. I fear for the benefit of the Colts they will overlook him. While I have little concern about Luck the Colts might actually fail to do the diligence and might miss out on a special player. In my opinion I think RG III is better than any QB in last years draft class Hands Down. I'm sure not everyone agrees but the more I see of him the more I see a special 1 of a kind QB.

Our girl is famous
Cliff Avril #PayDaMan
Yes I used a twitter hash tag in a POD fanpost. Perhaps I have revolutinzed the way we do things? This is a post to show not how much I want to keep Cliff. Which is alot by the way. This post is simply to make a point the Avril deserves to get paid. I know there are still alot of "haters" or "doubters" about Avril and for the life of me I don't why. Up until a couple of years ago he was the only defense we had. Now I am in the belief that Mayhew has to pay Avril not only for the teams best intrest but to prove to the rest of the team that like Ozzie Newsome, Martin Mayhew will take care of his own. Post is pretty basic these are the top 5 paid defensive ends by 2012 cap hit and the stats from 2011. After that we will look at Avrils season and see how he compares. I am looking at the sats as I type this hoping my point will be made. Perhaps I will learn something but no matter what I stand strong on my Avril line.
Profilers Offensive Line Concerns
Never let my love for the Phonz overshadow the fact that Matthew Stafford has been and always will be my boy! With that said like the secondary I have several concerns about the offensive line. Can they continue to protect Matt against the elite pass rushers ? Is there one guy who can open a run lane for Best and Leshoure next season. What about the penaltys? So here is a similar breakdown like my previous post of the often underrated and also overrated Detroit Lions Offensive line.
*Warning* Stephen Peterman is mentioned in the following post.

Profilers secondary concerns
I know I can't possibly be alone in having a concern about our secondary after this season. I just want to explain my thoughts and opinions on a few issues I personally see from this year. I can name every Corner on our roster and not one that I feel safe matching up against the best wide outs in the NFL. So let me break it down for you a little.

Potential target for Detroit at corner ?
My thoughts on our corner postion have been well known for a awhile I think. " The greatest assembley of number 2 corners ever put together". I love the Phonz, Aaron Berry and Chris Houston all as potential solutions to that number 2 spot. Sorry Wright fans I don't want to be the "hater" here but he's just to incositent for my liking at times. I'm looking to add a #1 guy who can compete with some of the top talent a WR in the NFL. Sure I could easily see Mayhew making a move to try and grab Asante Samuel, DR. Cromartie or maybe even a Marcus Trufant. What about free agency gets? Drafting corners is fine but this year there is no Patrick Peterson to solve our problems. There is some very good corners like Alfonso Denard and Dre Kirkpatrick this year. For the first time in a long time these Lions aren't building for the future anymore. There adding parts to win post season games. We need to be prepared to make a push for that ultimate goal.
Matthew Stafford ( Alumni) QB of the year
Among the numerous media awards along with the fan vote awards. Being elected to Pro Bowls and making All Pro rosters. There is a little thing called the NFL Alumni awards. These are the awards that are handed out but the prestigous NFL Alumni every year. Matthew Stafford walked away with one if the greatest awards you can be given at your postion. The Nfl Alumni voted him as the Quarterback of the year. Beating out Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. Stafford was also up for Player of the year between himself, Rodgers and Maurice Jones-Drew. MJD however won that award along with running back of the year.
I can't speak for Matthew but in my eyes if I was being given an award like this by the Alumni. It would mean a hell of alot more than anything the asscoiated press or sporting news could give me. Being awarded a honor like that by your peers is something you can hang onto forever. While it won't get the coverage of being the comeback player of everyones year. Quitely this award must mean so much more than that. Congrats Matthew I along with many Lions fans are so happy to see you get the real respect you have deserved all year.
Wikipedia: Since 1982 the NFL Alumni has held the Player of the Year Awards Dinner honoring the top 10 players and coach from the previous NFL season. The players are honored by a unique voting process in which former players cast ballots for their modern counterparts. Former pros vote only for the positions they once played themselves
Profilers Peterman Post
You know you have been waiting all year for this. No this is not a joke I'm gonna try and be as non NFL ref bias as I can here. Let the record show though I have been very vocal about my feelings about right gaurd Stephen Peterman.
Oh Matthew Stafford - Only named comeback king!
Stafford as usual has mounted another comeback. Yeah even with the season over and having mounted comebacks against the Raiders, Cowboys, Vikings and others. The NFL has as we have all screamed for named our franchise QB Matthew Stafford comeback player of the year. After being only the 4th QB in history to put up 5,000 yards. After having 2 years of injurys and playing every game including a play off berth in his 3rd seasons. This award in my mind was a given but others had Alex Smith. Looks like it's Stafford all the way.

10 Potential Off-season targets
Hey the season is over. Wow that was fun while it lasted. Never seen my Lions as a playoff contender. I am so pleased with how this season ended I can't even describe how proud I am of these men. So here is a list of a few targets I think you could see the Lions go after in this off-season. I don't project any of them as a lock but a possibillity for sure.
Our adopted son picks a school
So I know in the loss of playoffs, 5,000 yards, 41 Touchdows and 10 wins we have not discussed this much at all. I thought this was important enough for a fan post. Barry Sanders Jr has finally come to a decision. With OSU, FSU and Stanford all very high on his list. Barry Junior has officially comitted to.....Drumb roll please.........STANFORD. So we all know what college team we will be paying close attention to the next 3-4 years. I wish the best for Barry Junior and lets hope the shadow isn't to big for this kid. He's gonna be just fine I think. Who knows we may not be far from another draft of Barry Sanders vs Deion Sanders.
Santa Lee Hill
Yup he has returned again to the world of POD. Just before the holidays Santa Lee Hill stops by to ask all the PODers what they want this year. Obviously he has heard our cries for playoffs I hear he is a Lions fan after all. So please tell Santa Lee Hill what you are asking for this season. Who knows maybe you just might get it. Please if you will leave him plenty of beef and gatorade.

3 years later
*WARNING* Stats do not tell the whole story, May contain to much Sanchez for younger readers, ONLY stats from 2011.
Just going to take a look at this years statistics of the 2009 QB class. Sense now I assume I won't have to hear how the Lions need to move on and find a new QB. Stafford,Freeman, and Fuck mark Sanchez was the debate if you were in the market for a franchise arm. Here is this years stats as of right now just for entertainment purposes. I used Yahoo sports for all stats. Year 3 is the year most QBs are expected to make a big jump in their careers so here is this years stats. Not taking into effect the poor year of Tampa and Mark Sanchez being himself. Simply the numbers.

Walk with me for just a bit
Boy do you remember when the Lions fired oh whats his name ? Well anyways they gave the job to the young Martin Mayhew. A former Florida state DB ya know he played with Deion PRIMETIME Sanders. I remember greats like Jim Irsay sayin he was the best up and coming GM in the NFL. Every Lions fan cringed when they didn't look outside for a new leader. Kinda funny looking back all those years now. December 29, 2008 I remember it like yesterday. Martin Mayhews very first off season exciting times were they not ?

Open Thread / Couple bad Pettigrew pics
I like the open thread idea I am fine with bringing it back. BUT we gotta rec these things so they stay on top. Anyways I need this open thread today I got to meet Brandon Pettigrew and get an autograph. Not much time for chit chat but he was cool. Seemed pretty laid back. So I got to add another name to my ball today. I Got Corey Williams, Louis Delmas and Cliff Avril as well. I will post some pics in the comments. If we are gonna do the open thread someone has to be on top of that I think. And they need to stay on the front page IMO just to make it easier fro people to paticipate.

Few thoughts on the possible post season challenge
So here we are THE Detroit Lions are sitting in the playoff picture. Of course they can make the playoffs this year and that was not my benchmark. A winning season was all I asked for. So here comes Oakland a team thats really kind of hard to gauge right now but talk is Darren Macfadden might be ready to go for sunday. If I am the Raiders I will let DMC tote the rocks all day. Because frankly I don't think the Lions can stop him as much as it pains me to admit it. Even if the Lions play at the full potential they have been bad against the run all season. I love Gun but this Defense needs to be tweaked not overhauled but theres no reason for this defense to be so bad against the rushing attack.
I feel Vindicated
Three this were reassured to me this week. One as always Mojo is a BEAST even if the Jags are a sub par team. He now leads the NFL in rushing. Two of course is that the referees as always have a difficult job but it would be much easier if they did it correctly. Finally one of my proudest moments.....

1ST round pick
You know as well as I do what everyone has atleast on eye on sunday. The Auburn monster that is Nick Fairley. The defensive tackle who was once considered Carolinas best option at #1 overall in the draft. Ndamukong Suh will learn a few lessons over the next two weeks.
1. The game is played between the whistles anything after that is inexcusable!
2. Use your head and control your temper.
3. Just because your the guy now dosen't make you the guy later!

A Storm is Brewing
For us a hardcore fans we have weathered much worse. 0-16 makes you tough when you are the laughing stock of pro sports. With one bad decision Suh has taken chat to accusation and finger pointing. This goes far beyond him. Even though on twitter Mike Peirra called Suh not dirty but filthy. Thanks Mike you're a hack anyways but thanks. Chat of Lions being dirty was easy to defend when it was just penalties and offensive lineman talking trash. Now the media has video ammo and well..If you're a bandwagon fan you might consider jumping ship now. Don't say I didn't warn ya. If one thing raises hatered and trash talking it's not winning or losing. It's being considered a cheater and a dirty team. If you don't belive me what is your opinion of the Raiders franchises of the 60's and 70's? Sure they won alot but be honest do you want the Lions to be that? If not well Green Bay is that way folks.
