Jewels From The Crown Venting Time!!

There are so many things are on my mind about this team that I love that I have to get off my chest. It's been quite a while since I've done a post her so to start off I must warn you all that what I say here will or just might make you mad or pissed off so here I go.

THERE IS NO WAY THE KINGS ARE GOING TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!!!

With the current state of mind with the team, they just can't focus on scoring as EVERYBODY are standing on pins & needles wondering if they are going to be traded or waived or sent down to the minors. But why do the players have to suffer this!? How about putting the pressure on THE COACHES!?!? One of the main problems for this team IS the coaching. The fact is this team has a bunch of proven scorers, but the coaches ONLY focus is defense! It's equivalent to giving the keys of a Porsche to a teen that got his driver's license that very day! When the talks about who was going to be the new coach for this team I was hoping for someone that knows how to get this team to score. BUT ALAS!!! DL decided on one of his buddies to hold the reigns of this out of control wagon. The worst part of this coaching staff is the fact that NOBODY ELSE GOT PINK SLIPS!!! Having the worst offense in the league DOES warrant some additional firings. HOW CAN A TEAM MAKE A PLAYOFF RUN ON DEFENSE ALONE!?!?!?

WILL A TRADE MAKE A DIFFERENCE!?!?

With all the trade rumors swirling around, mainly about acquiring Rick Nash, DOES ANY PLAYER WANT TO COME TO PLAY FOR THE KINGS!?!? But to get someone like Nash would mean to sacrifice not just one key player but 2, maybe 3 players and DL isn't the type to just do that. I got into an argument with someone on facebook who WANTED to trade Dustin Brown AND Anze Kopitar. To do that would be not only insane but INCREDIBLY STUPID!! YOU DON'T TRADE YOUR KEY PLAYERS JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT PLAYING TO THEIR FULL POTENTIAL!!! The person even went as far as calling Kopitar LAZY! HOW CAN ANYBODY SAY A PLAYER WHO LEADS HIS TEAM IN GOALS, ASSISTS AND POINTS IS LAZY!?!? Everybody expects a trade coming soon and I hope we don't lose any key players like Jack Johnson, Jonathan Bernier or Jarrett Stoll. The reality is if there IS a trade, it's for certain one or more of the fore mention players WILL be part of the transaction. In my opinion, this team doesn't need Rick Nash. For starters, Nash's cap hit is $7.8 Million. I can't see how DL could possibly WANT IT!? For this trade to happen, the Kings would have to give up Bernier, Dustin Penner and someone like Matt Greene for Nash's cap hit to fit under the King's cap. The reality is Columbus, or any other team, don't want him especially his cap hit at $4.25 Million. So basically in a nut shell, they would have to include Johnson in this deal. My Idea would be to trade Drew Doughty and Trevor Lewis or Colin Fraser, but THAT won't happen. If the deal falls through the next name on the list would be Jeff Carter. His cap hit is $5.273 million which is MORE reasonable to manage than Nash. Now we're back to who goes in this deal. No matter what, Bernier is going to be a part of this, or any deal being made. If they throw in Stoll and maybe a 3rd or 2nd round draft pick, then they have it made. They do that and take a shot at acquiring James Van Riemsdyk from the Philadelphia Flyers for Brad Richardson and they are looking better. A wild shot would be doing a swap with Edmonton Oilers with Penner for Ales Hemsky and we have a team that can do a little better than what we have now. The worst case cenario is DL just does NOTHING by the trade deadline.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLDS IF THE KINGS GET OUT IN THE 1ST ROUND OR DON'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!?!?

More than certian, DL is out of a job and the Kings hire a new GM, as well as new coaches, that will more likely make HUGE CHANGES! By that I mean a FIRE SALE!!! .NO ONE ON THIS TEAM WILL BE SAFE!!! GOODBYE JONATHAN QUICK!! GOODBYE JOHNSON!! GOODBYE BROWN!! GOODBYE KOPITAR!! That would mean back to square 1, building from the ground up which would take 3 to 5 years. I for one DON'T WANT TO SEE THAT HAPPEN!! But if the Kings don't make it past the 1st round of the playoffs or even MAKE the playoffs, this is more likely going to happen.

This is what I have on my mind and I feel better letting this out. I would feel better if the Kings DO make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs;)

Jewels From The Crown My Take on Drew Doughty Situation

So here we are at another off-season where the Kings are waiting on someones decision.  This time, it's not a free agent but one of their restricted free agents that is holding out.  Why is this team has to go through SOME KIND of drama?  This is beginning to be a drag, and in some way, can effect the chemistry of the team.

Now there is no denying the fact that Drew Doughty is an integral part of this franchise, but for this contract dispute to go any longer than it should is quite unfair for not only the Kings, but the fans as well.  He hasn't come a long way, really, to be were he's at right now.  In his 3 years with the organization, he has accomplish alot for a defenseman.

Here are his numbers with the Kings

GP   G    A   PTS  +/-  PIM  PPG  PPA  SHG  SHA  GW  SOG   PCT

2008-09:   81     6  21    27   -17    56      3      13      0       0       1      126   .048

2009-10:   82   16  43    59    20    54      9      22      0       0       5      142   .113

2010-11:   76   11  29    40    13    68      5      10      0       0       3       139  .079

TOTAL:   239  33  93   126   16   178    17     45      0       0       9       407  .081

These are impressive numbers.  The trouble is, his second year he posted career high numbers then the numbers went down the following year.  I'm not say he DOESN'T deserve a big contract, but wanting to be the highest paid player for the Kings is absurd.  My opinion for this, and it's just my observation, being nominated for the Norris Trophy and not winning it bummed him out and put him into a funk that affected his game play.  This past season he wasn't nominated so this is one of the reasons he shouldn't be the highest paid King.  In my opinion, His worth is 5 years for 30 to 32.5 million.  This kind of offer I believe is very reasonable for both sides and if he keeps producing high numbers which gets him more nominations and even winning 1 or 2 Trophies, then they can talk about a contract extension to keep him a King for life.  This is my take on the situation, thank you

Jewels From The Crown The Week in Review (or the season, so far)

Here is my opinion of the Kings from what I have observed so far in this early season.  I REALLY don't like the 1st line of Smyth/Kopitar/Brown.  This line is just not connecting.  My opinion is that Dustin Brown doesn't belong in this line.  Before you critisizeme, I know he leads the team in goals(3), but most of the time he is just skating around in a confused state of mind and that slows down an offense.  This also contributes to Anze Kopitars sort of slow start.  So far, Kopitarhas NO GOALS on 15 shots with 3 assists.  These are not the numbers for a #1 center, specially Anze Kopitar.  Now the other winger on the line, Ryan Smyth, has been showing signs of a Ryan Smyth I remember playing for Edminton Oilers about a decade ago. So far, Smythhas 2 goals on 11 shots with 3 assists and leads the team in points.  In the last 2 games, Terry Murray moved Smyth to the 2nd line and substituted Andrei Loktionov.  This didn't improve the line.  In fact, this HURTS the line only because Loktionov has NO NHL experience before the season began.

The 2nd line in the last 2 game, Smyth/Jarret Stoll/Justin Williams, has been great.  Stoll'snumbers are 2 goals on 13 shots with 1 assist. William's numbers are 2 goals on 9 shots with 2 assists. Withthese numbers, this line SHOULD BE THE #1 line!  I would be surprise if TM makes this line the top line, but I WOULDN'T be surprise if he breaks it up by putting Kopitar in center.  This WAS the line TM started off last season and was on fire until Smyth got hurt and was out a few games andthen Williams was out almost half the season with a broken leg. If TM DOES go with Smyth/Kopitar/Williams line, this should put kopitar back on track.  If I recall, the 2nd line started out withBrayden Schenn/Stoll/Williams.  Schenn has alot of potential to be a big time scorer, but right now, he's best suited for the bottom 6 so he can get some NHL experience.

The 3rd line of Alexie Ponikarovski/Michal Handzus/Wayne Simmonds has started off slow at first, but has started to click the last game. Simmonds has shown some grit with hard hits and don't care who you are attitude.  Handzushas continued from where he left off last season with some great puck handling andalso with 2 assist to show. Ponikarovski has started off slow, but that is only because he's one of the new guys on the team.

The 4th line is one of a few question marks on this team. The line started off with Kyle Clifford/Brad Richardson/Kevin Westgarth in the first 2 games.  The chemistry was awful, but nobody expects the 4th line to be anything but to give the other lines some rest.  On the other hand, this line has done nothing in defense and has given up a few goals.  The last 2 games had the line changed to Schenn/Richardson/Westgarth, but with little improvements.

The defense and penalty kills(18 for 20) is the heart of this team and has been superb.  There is nothing wong with it.  The BIG problem for this team is the power play.  Seriously, what happen to it?  The power play last season was 12th in the league, now it's basically last in the league this season.  They are 1 for 16 and last game had ONLY 1 SHOT out of 5 POWER PLAY OPPORTUNITIES.  That is unacceptable for any team, even a team that dresses 16 skaters.  One of the problems is the fact that they move the puck too much and they don't shoot the puck enough.  Also I've noticed that there isn't enough movement in front of the net.  If they could minimize the passing, do more shooting and at least wiggle in front of the goalie, I think the power play would improve.

In closing, the Kings look good, but not good enough. some players have stepped up, but some haven't.  As I stated at the beginning of this, this is my opinion and I know the season just started.  Until the next King's game, SEE YAAAA, and GO KINGS, GO!!!

Jewels From The Crown The Kovi Saga, Continues....

As of right now, it appears the Kovalchuk saga is coming to an end.  Even Rich Hammond is saying the same thing.  The circle is ALMOST complete and soon the missing piece of the puzzle is in sight.  And yet, There are still doubters that don't believe in the latest round of talks.  When will the madness end?  It's looking like this could end very soon, and yet it feels like an eternity in time for someone as hyped as Ilya Kovalchuk to get a contract with ANY team.  Once the inevitable happens though, the ramifications will be HUGE!  Until then, the waiting game continues.....

Jewels From The Crown Breaking News!

As of July 13,2010 at 4:05 P.M.  Breaking News from the PMS Show on KLAC 570 AM.  inside sources say that Ilya Kovalchuk & the Kings have FINALLY agreed on a contract.  The announcement will happen around noon tomorrow.  They say it's a reliable source from the negotiations and the reason for the announcement tomorrow is because of the All-Star Game today.  This info was said by Matt "Money" Smith at the beginning of the show.

Jewels From The Crown Ilya Kovalchuk = LeBron James

Here's proof that Ilya Kovalchuk WANTS to be like LeBron James.  Seeing this made me laugh.  I think I'm in some sort of bizarro world.  Is this going to be the next trend in free agent sports?  The most sought after free agent has to have a one hour T.V. special to announce where they are going to play next season?  In my opinion though, I didn't care for LeBron Jame's special and I really don't care for Ilya Kovalchuk's special....if it happens.

Jewels From The Crown This just in: Kings out of kovalchuk Bidding

I just saw this from Spector's website and I am NOT  surprise.  If this is true (and he is 95% right) it's time to start looking at other available players.  I somehow knew this was going to happen.  All Kovalchuk showed to us and NHL fans is that he's ALL about the money.  He could care less if he goes to a Stanley Cup contender.  I would be shock if he DOESN'T sign with the Islanders since they are the only ones who offered him the most money.

Update: now L.A. Kings Insider, Rich Hammon is reporting an update on the Kovalchuk situation saying a good team source is speculating what the L.A. Time's Helene Elliott reported this evening as a sign that the Kings should move on.

Jewels From The Crown Who whouldn't want him?

If I was Dean Lombardi, I would try to wrestle Dustin Byfuglien away from the Chicago Blackhawks.  With the Blackhawks being seriously close to the salary cap next season, it could be the best chance for ANY team to capitalize on an opportunity on Chicago's trouble.

Now Dustin doesn't have great numbers during the season; 17 goals, 17 assists, shooting percentage of .081, +/- of -7 and 94 PIMs.  The good part of the numbers is 7 of the goals and 5 of the assists he has are on the power play, plus he also has 3 game winning goals.  And now for the pitch, in the current playoffs he has shown to be a monster.  so far, before game 6, he has 10 goals,5 assists, 4 power play goals, 5 game winners and a shooting percentage of .238.  He also has been a thorn in many opposing teams with constant checking and 20 PIMs.  I believe he could be a great fit with the Kings on pure aggression and physicality.

Oh by the way, former L.A. Kings defenseman, Rob Blake will announce his retirement after the playoffs.......about time.

Jewels From The Crown My Condolences to Vancouver

I'm sorry for your losses.  I really thought Roberto Luongo was finally shedding that moniker he had.  He was really looking good that first game and the Sedins were looking like they were getting in there groove again.  But alas, game 1 was just a fluke.  The big bad Black Hawks has showned to be too much for lil' ol' Canucks to handle.  The way the Hawks crashed the net several times was a thing of beauty and old style hockey.  They really roughed up Luongo and their defense.  The real MVP of that series was Dustin Byfuglien on his play and scoring.  He was a monster on ice.  They tried to rough him up at times, but it only anger the beast even more.  The last thing I'll say is I wish the Los Angeles Kings would of done the same thing.  See ya next season "Softy", HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HAAAA!

Jewels From The Crown The end of a season, is the beginning of a new season

It was a gut wrenching end Sunday night.  not a dry eye that belonged to a King's fan that evening(Connie).  I, myself, was too depress to even watch the post game show on FSWest.  The only thing I could think of is all accomplishments the Kings had provided us to see.  Feats like Anze Kopitar setting career highs for Goals(34), Assists(47) and points(81).  Seeing Jonathan Quick set a franchise record in Wins(39).  Drew Doughty having a breakout season Playing every game hard with 16 goals, 43 assists, adding up to 59 points.  Wayne Simmons also had a great season as well, 16 Goals, 24 assists for a total of 40 points.  Jack Johnson more than triple his assists(from 5 to 28) and points(from 11 to 36) total from last season,

They had a good series with Vancouver Canucks.  Even though they lost in six games they definitely showed they can play.  Both Doughty and Johnson lead the team in points(7), but all of Johnson's points are assists.  Doughty, Fredrik Modin and Michal Handzus lead the team in goals with 3 each.  Handzus, Kopitar and Dustin Brown all had 5 points each, while Modin and Alexander Frolov each had 4 points.  Of course the negatives was the shaky defense, questionable goal tending and some bad match-ups.  The other negative I must add is the fact that the only player on the Kings who had a positive plus/minus was Simmons with a 1(OUCH!).

Now that the season is over, everyone can rest up for next season.......well, not everyone.  Here is a list of players from this season who's are unrestricted/restricted free agents and their salaries.

Alexander Frolov (UFA) 4.000 Mil.

Fredrik Modin (UFA) 3.500 Mil. (he was acquired at the trade deadline)

Randy Jones (UFA) 3.000 Mil.

Jeff Halpern (UFA) 2.000 Mil. (he was acquired at the trade deadline)

Sean O'Donnell (UFA) 1.250 Mil.

Raitis Ivanans (UFA) 0.600 Mil.

Brad Richardson (RFA) 0.600 Mil.

Richard Clune (RFA) 0.562 Mil.

Scott Parse (RFA) 0.550 Mil

If that isn't enough for Dean Lombardi to think about, here is a list of unrestricted/restricted free agents and their salaries at the end of next season.

Michal Handzus (UFA) 4.000 Mil.

Justin Williams (UFA) 3.500 Mil.

Eric Ersberg (UFA) 0.750 Mil.

Peter Harrold (UFA) 0.550 Mil.

Wayne Simmons (UFA) 0.525 Mil.

Jack Johnson (RFA) 1.650 Mil.

Drew Doughty (RFA) 0.875 Mil.

Jonathan Bernier (RFA) 0.765 Mil.

Oscar Moller (RFA) 0.662 Mil.

One of the rumors I've heard is DL wants to get an extension done with Doughty before the start of free agency period.  besides that, the other question on my mind is who will DL keep between Ersberg and Bernier?  Quick is signed through the 2012/13 season.  He will receive 1.900 Mil. next season, 1.800 Mil. the following season and 1.700 in the final year of his contract.  My theory is this,Ersberg is demoted to Manchester and if Quick doesn't improve next season, look for Bernier to step up and take the #1 goalie spot.  If this cenario happens, look for DL to try and dump Quick on some other team looking for a backup goalie for a 2nd, or at least a 3rd round draft pick.

Before he worries about the goalie situation, he needs to start thinking about signing a couple of free agents for the next season.  Top priority is getting a scorer, but DLisn't going to spend alot of money on a player unless he thinks he'll be a good fit for this team so I don't think we'll see Ilya Kovalchuck or Patrick Marleau in a King's jersey(sorry).  He might sign someone like Matt Cullen, Alex Tanguay, Raffi Torres or Tomas HolmstromNicklas Backstrom would definitely be a good fit for this team but he might re-sign with Washington, or command a huge salary, not to mention he's a restricted free agent.  If DL does sign Kovalchuck or Marleau, say goodbye to Frolov because the rumor is he wants a multi-year deal for 5.000 Mil per year so more likely he'll go after players mentioned above.

The next Priority is getting a defense man that isn't too slow.  Unfortunately, there isn't any decent defense men that might be cheap.  All the good defense men are going to command a salary of 5 Mil., or more, per season.  Players Like Pavel Kubina, who earn 5 Mil. this season, is looking for 6 or 5.500 Mil. per season and will probably get it.  All other Defense men are either seeking the big payday or too old and slow.  DL is more likely be looking for a trade for a defense man, and more likely a scorer if his plans are to re-sign players like Doughty, Johnson, Bernier and possibly Frolov.

Well that's my opinion, I would like to know what other people think of what DL would do to make the Los Angeles Kings an even better team in the future.  Until then, GO KINGS, GO!!! :)

Gang Green Nation Hellooooo, everybody!

First off, I'm a Mark Sanchez fan since I'm a USC football fan.  I was really proud of what Sanchito did in his first year as QB for this franchise.  It was sad to see them loose in the championship game, but he definitely came out the better man for it.  Now seeing what they have done in the off-season, I must say it's now in their favor to win the Lombardi trophy.  I wasn't really impress with whom they drafted, but this year's draft didn't have any eye popping college players to begin with.  In conclusion, I'm really looking forward to the start of the new season.

Jewels From The Crown Bring on the Canucks

If you haven't heard, you're probably getting up from under a rock and just found out THE KINGS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!  YAHOO!!  Finally, the drought is over.  It's been 8 years since the Los Angeles Kings had been in the playoffs.  They go in as the sixth seed in the Western Conference and their opponent is Vancouver Canucks.  I can't wait for game one on Thursday.

If anyone remebered the last time they faced each other, the Kings belted Luongo with 8 goals.  Even though the Kings had only 3 wins in April so far, they showed some promising numbers.

Dustin Brown, the hottest Kings player in the month, has 6 goals and 4 assists.

Ryan Smyth has only 6 assists.

Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty both have 1 goal and 4 assists.

Jack Johnson has 2 goals and 3 assists.

Justin Williams has 2 goals and 2 assist

Jarret Stoll has 3 goal and 1 assists

These are promising numbers and hopefully they continue in the playoffs, especially with a well rested Jonathan Quick in net.

GO KINGS, GO!!!

Jewels From The Crown And now the finish

After yesterday's disappointing season finale at home, it has seems to me that there is some hope of a first round upset by the Los Angeles Kings.  Even though it took 46 shots on goal to get the first puck in the net, it only took 3 shots on goal to get the second one in.  All in all, the Kings had 55 shots on goals for 3 goals in yesterday's game.

I must say this, Edmonton's goaltender, Devan Dubnyk, played an incredible game yesterday.  He made save after save, but almost lost.  As for Jonathan Quick, he looked tired and overworked again.  Lets see if TERRIFIC Terry Murray puts him in net again today.  I would be surprised if he didn't.  TTM seems to have a fetish of overworking our #1 goalie.  Especially when the goaltender gives up a SHORT-HANDED GOAL.  It amazing that he didn't take Quick out of the game at that point, but this is TTM, he obviously loves to see misery happen to this team.  Any sensible head coach would've have the backup start a game to let his best goalie get some rest, but not TTM.  He is all about tough love.  If you ain't suffering, you are not part of HIS team.  If you just got your foot amputated, your in the starting lineup.  This is the attitude of TTM and I don't like it.  Obviously, he doesn't care about the welfare of his team.  as long as its not broke, why fix it.  Who cares if you have a goalie showing signs of fatigue.  Who cares if you have a defense that gives away goals like free coupons for ICE CREAM!  Who cares that an offense takes 46 shots before you get a goal.  As long as the players are alive, that's all he needs.

One last thought,  I couldn't believe how under stock Team L.A. store was.  At the game yesterday, I looked through all the merchandise stands at Staples Center to get what I wanted.  An extra large Anze Kopitar alternate black  Jersey. I probably missed 15 minutes of hockey time because I was looking for that jersey, but I got it.  Doesn't the company who sells the jerseys keep a large volume of the more popular players? Does every player has to have the same number of jerseys available to the public?  C'mon, this is Kopitar, the team MVP (as of yesterday).  Hell, even Quick's and Dustin Brown's jerseys were few and far away.

That is all for my rants today and in closing

GO KINGS, GO!!!

Jewels From The Crown PLEASE TERRY MURRAY, READ THIS!!!

If you want YOUR TEAM to make it in the playoffs.  Just listen to not only me, but everyone around you. GIVE JONATHAN QUICK SOME REST, PLEASE!!!  The Kings had this game.  Everything was in the bag and they left it open.  You can drive a car so far until it runs out of gas.  plus it doesn't help when the defense isn't doing their job.  This time around, they didn't give goals away.  The 'Yotes just caught them by surprise, a trend that's been happening lately.

Jonathan Quick played as good as he could.  He made 25 saves out of 27 shots on goals.  The only thing that they could've done was stay out of the penalty box.  They wasted more energy killing power plays and not getting enough shots.  Towards the end of regulation, they tried everything they could to get that win, but they were getting out muscled wherever the puck was at.  It even continued thru the overtime period (and the refs taking a look, elsewhere).

All in all, Jonathan Quick needs to sit the next game, or the final game of the season off.  This has been a stressful season for him.  He has set the franchise record for wins in a season and tonight's game, he tied the club record for most starts in a season (held by Felix "The Cat" Potvin).  I wouldn't mind one more start, but that's all I can stomach until the playoffs.  So in closing, PLEASE TERRY MURRAY, GIVE JONATHAN QUICK SOME REST!

GO KINGS!!!

Jewels From The Crown After tonight's game, I'm not convinced.

The offense is struggling at times, the defense is hopeless and our starting goaltender is confused.  You would be too if your coach tells you,"Your in goal tonight."  I really don't get what Terry Murray is doing with our goaltender.  After Jonathan Quick starts a hard fought game against the goon squad (Anaheim Ducks) in which he stopped every shot except 1 goal and loses in the shootout, HE HAS HIM IN GOAL TONIGHT!!!  I plead with Terry Murray," PLEASE, give Quick a game off, your OVERWORKING HIM!!"

Before his last game, he lost 3-2 @ Minnesota were he had 17 saves with 20 shots, with a save % of .850 and a GAA of 3.07.  then there was the 4-1 loss against Dallas were he had 22 saves with 26 shots, with a save % of .846 and a GAA of 4.00. Before that, there was the 1-3 loss against St. Louis were he had 22 saves with 25 shots, save % of .880 and a GAA of 3.06. Finally, there was that 3-4 overtime loss to Colorado were he had only 13 saves on 16 shots, with a save % of .813 and a GAA of 9.93 and he didn't even last the FIRST PERIOD.

Now I'm not blaming everything on Jonathan Quick and Terry Murray, but more than half the blame is on the offense and the horrific defense.  I'm not going to talk about the defense because this is a fan post, not a book report.  The only thing I will say about them is they lack focus and seem at times they forget which team they're playing for.  The offense is something I will talk about.  Here are some numbers on offense.

Tonight's game They were 4 for 40 shots on goals, with 29 for 54 on face-offs wins and 1 for 3 on Power Play Goals.  The previous game against the Ducks, they were 1 for 33 SOGs, with 28 for 56 FOWs and 1 for 2 PPGs.  Before that, the game against Vancouver they were 8 for 30 SOGs, with 34 for 64 FOWs and 2 for 5 PPGs.  Then before that, the game against Nashville they were 2 for 31 SOGs, with 35 for 61 FOWs and 0 for 1 PPGS.

Now these numbers are about average and we all know the Nashville, Vancouver and tonight's game they won.  So why would I post these numbers?  I think there is some sort of conspiracy with our defense.  I think they're blowing these games because either they're jealous with Quick, or they just don't like their head coach.  I think they force Murray to start Quick for tonight's game just to prove some point to them.  Whatever the case, some way, some how, they need to get focused and start working for the prize.  LORD STANLEY'S CUP.

GO KINGS!!!

Jewels From The Crown The magic might be over

After tonight's game, I think They're in trouble.  Jonathan Quick is really showing he's overworked.  Even with two days off he hasn't shown that competitive edge he had before the Olympic break.  Maybe it's during that break he lost his magic or maybe the fact he has played all but 9 games in net.  There is something mentally wrong with him
to be playing bad here down the stretch.

He could be cracking down under pressure.  But really, who wouldn't be.  He achieved something no other Kings goalie has since Mario Lessard.  He has set a Kings Single season record in wins(39 so far) that puts him sixth all time in wins as a King (61).  He has also achieved personal best for not only wins, but in games played (69), save attempts(1,843) and minutes played (4,041) so far.  but with recent struggles he has achieved personal lows like loses (25) and goal allowed (172).

With four games left in the season, can the Kings really afford to Keep him in net?  I know its a stupid question right now but from what I saw in tonight's game, I think no.  I think he needs to sit out the next two games but finish off the season by playing the last two games.  This is the only way he can trully get the rest needed for the playoffs.  If he plays the rest of the games, I don't see any chance of them surviving past the first round.  Terry Murray must see this. or he can only blame himself for what would be considered a total collapse of a good young team like the Kings.

Jewels From The Crown My Vision

After watching tonight's game against the Vancouver Canucks I had a quick vision of the games ahead.  I saw Jonathan Quick making 28 saves out of 30 SOGs against the Anaheim Ducks.  On the other hand, I also see Jonas Hiller making 28 saves, out of 33 SOGs.  The next game I see the backups going head-to-head, with the Kings losing a close one and giving Jonathan Bernier his first loss of the season.  then I see the Kings losing to Phoenix in which they're brought down to earth in a heartbreaking loss.  with reality setting in, they bounce back as they beat Edmonton by 2 goals and clinch a spot in the playoffs.  Finally, they have a real nail-biter against colorado in which they win a critical game to stay at the 7th spot in the playoffs.  At this point my vision goes away, but not before I see Kopitar with a game winning goal against the Chicago Blackhawks.  I really don't know if this was game 1 or game 7 because everyone in the arena was in SHOCK!  I also would like to point out that this is my first fanpost since I have never done this before and is a new member since February 1st so please, be gentle on your comments;)

Go Kings!!!
