Mavs deal for Butler and Haywood is complete
"Mavs and Wizards have completed their trade call with the league office. Deal will be announced later tonight. Seven-player swap in the end: Dallas gets Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson as was always the case once teams agreed Friday. Washington gets Josh Howard, Drew Gooden, Quinton Ross and James Singleton."-ESPN
David Thorpe Loves Greg Oden.
"Despite yet another season-ending injury, Oden is still highly regarded as a basketball player because we know what he can do in this league when healthy. He's like Yao Ming, who also has trouble staying healthy but won't be traded anytime soon because he's just impossible to replace.
Oden can rebound, defend and finish in the paint. And he's a great teammate with a good-natured personality. That is a very rare package to find, especially in a 7-foot, 285-pound frame. Had Oden stayed healthy up to this point, he'd be No. 1 or No. 2 on this list."-Thorpe
Kevin Pritchard made an offer for Tyrus Thomas.
"Portland Trail Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard made an offer they’ll have to improve upon to be taken seriously – one of his expiring contracts (Steve Blake or Travis Outlaw) and two future second-round draft picks."-Adrian Wojnarowski
Team Defense: Jack Ramsay and the Portland Trailblazers
I just want to thank Timbo for sending me this great footage. The man is a true gentleman and a scholar. If you haven't already checked out his stuff I highly suggest you do so.
The footage itself is from the 1978 Portland Trailblazers and is narrated by Dr. Jack Ramsay. It basically breaks down the team's defensive schemes and focuses on both individual and team defense. I had the chance to get the original 16mm reel transfered while working on my own film project about sasquatch. (You can check that out too if you feels so inclined.)
Obviously this footage is intended for educational use only. Give Timbo mad, super-dope, props for purchasing the reel in the first place. I'm not a defensive expert by any means so I'd like to get everyone's thoughts on the schemes and how they relate to the current team. (Where's AK when you need him?)

Andre Miller surprised by Oden's talent.
"Probably Greg Oden before he went down. I already knew what Brandon Roy could do as an all-star and my goal was just to come in and observe and help guys get better. Greg Oden, knowing the inuries he's been through, the hard work he put in over the summer. I just wanted to do things to help him get better, help him get his confidence. Just throwing the ball down there. He's a big guy, so anytime you give a guy like that confidence and throw the ball down there he's going to work hard for you. So that was my main objective, to just come in and make friends with the biggest guy on the team." -Andre Miller
Mavericks are "highly" interested in Koponen.
"However, Pavicevic said Koponen’s agent is pushing hard for the Finnish guard to enter the NBA, and added that teams such as the Dallas Mavericks are highly interested in the 21-year-old phenom. "-Columbian
