So I was just thinking about this during class. In my opinion, I feel like Feds was a sort of buffer for Kreider/other prospects to become ready to join. In my opinion, Fedotenko is an excellent player, and come playoff time (knock on wood) he's a guy we want in our lineup as a veteran with clutch scoring. Fedotenko is a guy that plays on the grinder line with Boyle and Prust, but lets switch around the lineup. I read an article that said that Avery may not make the lineup and be sent down to the whale. However, I disagree with that decision. I'll explain after the jump.

An obvious hypothetical, but its definitely something to consider. Everyone assumes that Sauer and McD are all locks going into the season, but lets look at a potential hypothetical. Lets say, Pavel Valentenko and Tim Erixon come to camp guns blazing and leave no choice to John Tortorella but to keep Valentenko and Erixon in the lineup. If we had to cut one of the players, either Mike Sauer or Ryan McD, which player do we pick? Do we just healthy scratch either until one of the rookies shows potential? Do we scratch Eminger? You know theres a crapload of hate towards Matt Cooke. Surprisingly, most of it comes from pittsburgh fans. I decided to take a venture at the Game Day Thread up at Pensburg. 

Game Day Thread

I ventured there with a mindset that all the Pens fans were gonna be like "clean hit that is BS!" or "COOKE DIDNT EVEN TOUCH THE GUY". To my surprise, most (if not all) of them were completely heartbroken and infuriated that Cooke continues to be a goon. Lets be honest, there's no backing up that Cooke isn't a dirty player. However, it would absolutely SUCK for him to be on our team.

Imagine if Avery was the one blindsiding everyone, and particularly so in this game. We were at home against the Penguins, fighting for home ice, and then Avery completely nails a guy with his elbow on purpose. That gives us a 5 minute major, and they capitalize with 2 powerplay goals because of that play. You tell me how much you would hate Avery for that.

Now I'm one who usually hates looking at the power rankings, because they never give credit to teams that have been doing well. However, it seems that the Rangers have finally gotten recognition for their hard work!.

They have finally gotten recognition for their wins against the Caps, the Penguins, and the Coyotes, and have reached number 10, even if it is for only a week. 

P.S. Plus it warms my heart to see Boston 5 spots lower than the Rangers!!!
