What The Villyn saw Monday night

I saw the following:

1) Denver does NOT throw the ball DOWNFIELD. I watched basically every game and not ONE TIME have they thrown the ball over 30 yards. It makes me wanna scream, get some wavos McD. With JC, we threw deep 3-4 times a game and teams had to respect that.

2) Our O-Line just isnt that good. I've been saying this for weeks. Too light, get pushed around my physical teams, cant run block to save their lives. Hamilton and Wegman are just terrible.

3) Defense is very good

4) McDaniels needs to calm down and not run up and down the sidelines after big plays like Gruden did in the super bowl. He really looks like an idiot.

5) Dink and dunk, dink and dunk, dink and dunk, dink and dunk, dink and dunk, dink and dunk, dink and dunk. You get the picture.

6) The offense is just too predictable and that blame goes right on McD. Call an aggressive game plan already.

Don't judge teams until the season starts.

This is what I told my friends who were bashing Denver, just like the media, before the season started. No one can predict the future, and no one "knows" how a team is going to do that year before one game is even played.. There have been many teams that were one of the worst teams in the league and turned it right around in one year, particularly the Rams who were one of the worst teams in the league in 98 and who won the super bowl in 99. One year difference:

1998: St. Louis Rams 4 12 0 .250 285 378

1999: St. Louis Rams 13 3 0 .813 526 242

Look at the huge difference in the points for and against, IN ONE YEAR.

Don't judge teams until the season starts or you end up looking like complete buffoons like Clayton (who probably didn't even play pee-wee football, Dukes (what does he know about playing for a winning team), and Schlereth (who obviously has been spending more time trying to sell his disgusting green chili than studying the Denver Broncos).

Broncos medical staff should be fired

The Broncos medical staff is an absolute joke and should have been canned right along with Shanny. Here is why:

Cutler's diabetes goes undiagnosed- There is not excuse whatsoever for this debacle. A person loses 30 lbs, and has ALL of the signs of diabetes, and it goes undiagnosed until the end of the year? Routine testing would have caught this illness way before the end of the year. In my line of work, I would have been fired on the spot for being so grossly negligent.

Marshall's injury goes undiagnosed- Even though the medical staff said that nothing showed up on the x-rays, i dont believe that for a minute. If someone has issues with their hip, and is in obvious pain, you make 1000% sure there is nothing wrong with it. A hip injury can be career threatning. Again, no excuse for this example of mal-practice.

If I was Marshall, I would stay away from Denver too.

WR at #12?

First, I think that not signing Olshansky was a biiiig mistake, we need big DE's for the 3-4. The more I've thought about what we could do at #12 the more I think that WR is a real possibility. As we know Marshall just had hip surgery. I consider that a fairly serious operation, and one that will take a long time to heel. He is our big dog at WR and if he isnt 100% come the start of the season (he's already out until July) were in big trouble. I really like Heyward from Maryland. I think that he is gonna be phenomenal and receivers with his speed simply do not come out every year. I also like Crabtree a lot. Drafting either one of these guys would allow us to put Royal in the slot (like Welker) and give Marshall some help on the other side (and provide some insurance). We can go D at #18 (where a few big DE's will still be available). So what do you think?

Dumervil is our best defensive player. He is our best pass rusher. He has absolutely no help on the D line. He is double teamed constantly. I'm reading all these posts saying that "we need to get rid of him", "he wont be around much longer", "he was the biggest dissapointment". Those people who want to get rid of him really need to watch a football game. DE's dont grow on trees you know.

Jets fans were feeling green

I was in NY for the game on sunday and I couldnt have been happier with the way denver played. All the "experts" on TV, as well as many of the fans in parking lot, were questioning why denver should even put their jock straps on since the Jets were going to crush them. After all the smack talk, it was so wonderful to see all the pissed off faces heading for the exits after stokely caught the TD, to my screams of "There's the dagger!"

The play calling in the game on sunday was awesome, the best i've seen from denver in years. We used ALL OF OUR WEAPONS for the first time. The mix of runs and passes, and moving Cutler around, kept the Jets off balance all game. The offensive line was great. I really focused on the O-Line and even when the Jets brought extra guys, they never got to Cutler. Jenkins wasn't pushing anyone around. The D brought it the whole game too. Besides the long run to Jones, the Jets really did nothing. When the D plays well, the offense has less pressure to score everytime and plays a lot better.

After the jets fans headed to the exits I was able to get right down behind the Denver bench. I got some nice pictures and was semi-conversing with the players, particularly Scheffler. In the NFL, you gotta bring it every week, and the Jets/Denver game proved once again: thats why they play the game.

we are 1 to 2 years away from being a powerhouse. This last draft load up on offense then next year with our 10-11 picks load up on defense and sign a stud DT and we'll be set. And play the young guys like crowder and moss for crying out loud. let them learn on the job since they arent gonna learn nothing sitting on the flippin bench. Ekuban and Dingleberryburger just cant get to the qb so get them outta there. What is champ's deal? he doesnt cover the other teams best wr and its starting to piss me off. thats what he is here to do and if he refuses to move around the field, then get rid of him. it sounds to me like his ego is getting a little to big. Bowe was running hog wild around the secondary and champ was no where to be found.

Dre Moore absolutely should have been the pick at 109 and not that Center. DT is much more important to address than a backup offensive center, c'mon shanny. Then they take a RB with Okam still on the board. C'mon shanny. These picks left me scratching my head. Besides that, i was happy with the draft (although i would have taken albert over clady). Our draft would have looked ALOT BETTER with Okam and Moore, not to mention that we would have been stacked at DT. What do you all think

How bad do we miss G. Warren now?

I'll tell you what, our D-Line would look a heck of a lot better with Big Money at DT. I said back when the "mastermind" traded him to oakland that it was one of the worst moves shanny has ever made, and i still feel that way. Shanny traded him because Warren "didn't fit into what we were tyring to do here." So we simply traded our best DT to a division rival because he didnt fit into the scheme, how absurd. And what makes it even worse is that defensive scheme was sent packing at the end of the year. I would give that crappy 5th round pick back to the Raiders in a second to get back Warren. Yet another head scratching move by Shanny.

I'm very dissapointed we brought him back. Yes he is a great role model and influence on the younger players, but lets face facts he's just not that good anymore. I'd rather see a rookie in their and Lynch any day of the week. He is an absolute liability in pass coverage and is not even that good down in the box. Lets see, we keep lynch and give a 7th round tender on Abdullah? Lynch should have been gone 3 years ago for crying out loud.
